The Usefulness of Contrapuntal Reading in Practice or Theory

    Get PDF
P(論文)Is Edward Said’s concept of “contrapuntal reading” good enough in practice, but not in theory? In order to solve this problem, we consider the discussion of T.W. Adorno “Beethoven’s Late Style” in Said’s On Late Style. At the same time, we compare it with “On Fidelio” of “Cosi fan tutte at the Limits,” also by Said. Because of this comparison, we consult the playing style of the pianists V. Afanassiev and I. Pogorelich. However, this paper is intended to use the idea of classical music for social epistemology. In order to lead us to understand this, we refer to Slavoj Žižek “Against the Populist Temptation : Ode to Joy and the Turkish March.”departmental bulletin pape

An ICT-Based Approach to English Education

    Get PDF
P(論文)According to Benesse Education and Research Development Center (2008), the hours allocated annually to English education in Japanese schools are: 267 hours in junior high school; 362 hours in high school; and 90 hours in university as a compulsory subject. As their reports suggests, hours spent in university are considerably limited. This paper discusses how a use of ICT can generate influence over students’ motivation to positively engage in their daily out-ofclass learning activities, which in turn will increase hours for their learning of English. An attempt was also made to create periodic updates on students’ grade in progress by electronically notifying them of the accumulated points earned for their grade as part of formative evaluation process to stimulate students’awareness of the involvement in their class and out-of-class learning process.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
P(論文)This study aimed to determine the problems of support for students with developmental disabilities at Osaka International University and to identify solutions through a comparison of current issues. Few students with developmental disabilities seek support commitments voluntarily, therefore it is necessary to establish a support system for students who may require help in the early stages. Furthermore, educational activities need to be provided based on training workshops within the university to create a conducive environment to encourage students with developmental disabilities to seek help. It is also necessary to facilitate cooperation with outside experts for the employment of such students as they need support in the form of employment programs, including for part-time work, through which they can deepen their self-understanding.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)Shigeru Mizuki said that he was 80 percent Goethe and that Goethe was the only person he could respect. Mizuki was a cartoonist of the baby-boom generation whose major creative works were Kitaro in the Cemetery and Sanpei the Kappa, and Goethe is the famous German writer. This article addresses the connection between the greatest German writer and the Japanese yokai cartoonist who captivated the minds of post-war children. The author compares the relationship between Mizuki and Goethe, who became the former’s mental support, with those of Johann Eckermann who wrote about Goethe, and Eishiro Kameo who translated Goethe into Japanese.departmental bulletin pape

The Right to Regain the Legally Reserved Portion and Analogy Apply of Civil Code 158, paragraph 1

P(論文)A testator can freely leave his property as an inheritance using a will, but regardless of the contents of that will, certain heirs have a right to receive part of the estate. For example, even if a parent’s will were to state : “To my son I leave no inheritance whatsoever,” the son will still be able to inherit a part of the estate. This system is termed the the legally secured portion. However, if the inheritor is to regain their legally secured portion, it must be claimed within a legally specified period. This system has been criticized by many lawyers as disadvantageous to the elderly and those suffering from serious diseases and the like. Recently the Supreme Court issued its first ruling on the right to regain the legally secured portions and stop the expiry of this right. Because of a strong interest in this ruling, I studied relevant past judgements and theories.departmental bulletin pape

The Political Thought of Tadao Yanaihara(2) -His Postwar Conception of Democracy and Absolute Pacifism-

    Get PDF
P(論文)This article attempts to analyze the conception of democracy and absolute pacifism in Yanaihara’s political thought. For Yanaihara democracy didn’t mean majority rule or due process ,but meant creation of political subject who bears responsibility for his nation. As to his pacifism he refused the role of balance of power in international relations and went too far into the negation of the right of self defense. Since he was skeptical of the conception “justice” in political arena, he clearly denied to distinguish just war and unjust war. Yanaihara insisted that democracy and absolute pacifism can be fully realized, when nations experience the religious reformation in their souls. In this sense, democracy and absolute pacifism go hand in hand with spiritual revolution occurred by Christianity. It is true that such an approach met with severe criticism, but it’s a really interesesting attempt to consider the public role of religion, if, we don’t confine religion in the private affair.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)Psychological tolerance (PT) is a fundamental concept that explains the readiness to accept unpleasant situations and to tolerate hardships. Unlike resilience, PT includes the idea of socially favorable behaviors that require patience, that young people should be aware of in order to survive in a society. Typical social skill training (SST) is less effective if trainees are not involved due to the lack of basic social skills. PT measures the level of basic social skills for those who cannot endure SSTs. The article discusses the importance of PT and introduces the possibility of future findings.departmental bulletin pape
