PARAMETER SETTING OF A DYNAMIC EQUATION FOR A PRODUCTION PROCESS WITH PHASE TRANSITION
In the previous studies, we have been analyzing the production process evaluation by utilizing the potential function. We proposed appropriate parameters for a dynamic equation to constrain the phase transition reported in a previous study. The parameters were based on a long experience in production. The rate of return was calculated from the estimates of production orders from September 2014 to September 2016. The parameters of the dynamic equation were empirically obtained from the rate of return data. We confirmed the validity of the parameter setting by applying it to a real production process. There is no research specifying the parameters of the dynamic equation defined by a free energy of Ginzburg-Landau (GL) based on real data. We also report the change in entropy with regard to volatility. Finally, we reported the entropy of three states: a stable state, a state with an assumed phase transition, and a state with a phase transition.journal articl
Mathematical Model of Plant Leaf Area Growth
In this paper, we introduce a mathematical model of plant growth, from the seedling to shipping of the adult plant. Our model has three parts. The first analyzes plant growth, the second models the fertilizer supply system, and the third identifies an optimal control strategy by matching the control system to the growth density. The mathematical model was defined using bilinear partial differential equations, but these were replaced by a strictly linear model.departmental bulletin pape

National Culture Competencies and Foreign Subsidiary Staffing: A Typology of Boundary Spanners
Traditional categorization of foreign subsidiaries' (top) managers has been dominated by the PCN-HCN (parent country national - host country national, i.e. "expatriate" versus "local") nationality-based dichotomy. This dichotomy was complemented by the TCN(third country national). Then, in 1997, appeared the SIE(self-initiated expatriate), as opposed to the OE(organizational expatriate). Here, the new categorization criteria was the initiator of the relocation: organization or individual. In this paper we propose a categorization based on a specific set of skills: national culture competencies. We believe that this typology is more relevant to understand cultural boundary spanners and their roles, motivations and performance at multiple hierarchical levels within the subsidiary (as opposed to looking only at top managers).departmental bulletin pape
<Research Note>Personal Experiences and Collective Memories: an Essay on Robert Lepage's <887>
departmental bulletin pape
English language education in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines: A Survey of Trends, Issues and Challenges
English has dominated the fields of arts, law, commerce, science, technology and education. Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, co-members in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Plus Three, are not an exception to this global trend. These nations have made English entrenched in their education systems. What trends, issues and challenges make their English language education complex and complicated? What resolutions have been worked out to address them? More importantly, how can these three nations address these challenges in a more concerted effort? This study aims to shed light on these questions through a survey of classroom teachers representative of each country.departmental bulletin pape
Externality of Defense Expenditure in the United States: A New Analytical Technique to Overcome Multicollinearity
This study estimates a three-sector Feder–Ram model using US annual data for 1965–2014 to confirm the externality of defense expenditure in the United States. Although the model is often used in the literature to scrutinize whether this effect exists, a flaw intrinsic to this model is the appearance of multicollinearity. In this study, I introduced novel techniques, namely: the standardization and estimation of a simple slope, to estimate the model. The results are as follows. First, I prove that the multicollinearity problem can be resolved by standardization. Second, externality, which is judged to conventionally exist, is not found. Third, increases in defense expenditure bring about positive but limited economic growth when the ratio of private to defense expenditure in the previous year ranges from 5.09 to 6.82%. By re-estimating the model, this study contributes to developing the Feder–Ram model within the related literature.journal articl
AN OPTIMAL PRODUCTION CAPACITY CONTROL INCLUDING OUTSIDE SUPPLIERS
This study is part of an ongoing report on an analysis of production processes using a lead-time function. We present a strategy for determining the optimal production capacity using a quadratic form evaluation function in the production process. A mathematical model of production process is introduced by a stochastic differential equations with a lognormal type. In general, a production capacity is proportional to the rate of return. To determine the optimal production capacity, we calculated the optimal solution by introducing the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. We determine the optimum parameters of the quadratic form evaluation function on the basis of the optimal capacity solution. We reported that an optimal production capacity is highly dependent on a volatility in workers. Further, we present the actual throughput data for a production flow process with high productivity (using a synchronous method) and in the absence of a production flow process (using an asynchronous method). The production efficiency of the synchronous process becomes clear from the actual data. For further verification, we confirmed the benefit of using the synchronization process to attempt to perform dynamic simulation.journal articl
INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATION BETWEEN PRODUCTION DENSITY AND LEAD-TIME VIA STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS
We modeled the mathematical modeling of the production process using the diffusion equation in the deterministic system in previous paper. We have also proposed some modeling and system evaluation by considering the production process as stochastic system. Based on these results, we report on the stochastic model of the production density distribution. The relationship between production density and lead time (throughput) has not yet been clearly established. As a results, we clarify the effect of fluctuations of lead time on production density by utilizing stochastic analysis.journal articl
Study of Programming Education for Elementary School Students
departmental bulletin pape
