Can Translation be a Useful Tool in Preparing Speaking Tasks for EFL Students?
Get PDFIn response to the emphasis on fostering productive skills described in Courses of Study
for junior and senior high schools in their foreign language sections in Japan (MEXT, 2017,
2018), this paper aims at discussing the effectiveness of translation in preparation for speaking
tasks in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context especially in Japan, where a foreign
language (L2) is learned as a school subject, through the past theoretical and empirical
research. Even though translation often entails negative connotations and beliefs, it has started
to be considered as having pedagogical advantages (Cook, 2010, 2018). Yet, there are few
studies that have investigated its practical use for L2 learning. Since an increasing number of
studies have verified effects of using students’ first language (L1) in the L2 classroom, which
helps discuss positive aspects of translation use (Hall & Cook, 2012), this paper includes studies
on L1 use to understand its functions and purposes as well as those of the translation use,
after overviewing the research on planned speaking tasks. In conclusion, it is suggested that
allowing EFL students to use translation when they prepare for speaking tasks can give them

Japanese Olympic athletes cheering team in Antwerp Olympic Games; the old photographs
of 1917 and 1920 showing Japanese Olympic athlete (Kanekichi Saito and others) ; The 30th
anniversary commemorative book and medal related to the Keio University Tennis Club,
which grew up the Olympic silver medalist Ichiya Kumagai; the handwritten autograph of
Philip Noel-Baker, who won the silver medal at 1500m Athletics Men. It was very important
to identify the names of the Olympic athletes in the old photographs and to determine

Information Utilization for Human-centered ～ A study on the difference between 情報 and information ～
Get PDF情報の利活用は”情報収集により収集した情報を分析し、現状の問題点を指摘し、解決策
を創出する”といった問題解決型のイメージで語られることが多い。情報収集から始まる一
連の情報処理が問題解決を容易にすることから、情報の価値が認識される。情報社会は情報
が新しい価値を創造する社会として語られてきたが、この価値創造型の視点で情報の価値
を説明する例は少ない。一方、日本語の”情報”は一般に認知されるようになって約50年し
か経っていない。それに対し”information”は語源のinformatioから約700年の歴史がある。
理解の深さと広がり、体系化の度合いが日本語の情報と大きく異なると考えられる。そこで、
日本語の“情報”と、英語の“information”をとりまく環境や使用実態の相違点に注目して、今

Get PDF情報の利活用は”情報収集をベースに、収集した情報を分析し、問題の解決策を創出する”
といった問題解決型のイメージで語られることが多い。一連の情報処理において、情報が問
題解決を容易にすることから、情報の価値が認識される。一方、情報社会は情報が新しい価
値を創造する社会として語られてきたが、この価値創造型の視点で情報の価値を説明する
例は少ない。情報とinformationという言葉の歴史的／社会的背景の違い、および日本語と
英語における情報の利活用の特質など情報の利活用をとりまく社会的環境については既に
報告した。情報は行動や意思決定などの行為に関連して利活用される。行為は意志的行為
と身体的行為（行動）に分けて扱うことができることから、行為の段階ごとに情報の利活用
を分析すれば、人にとっての情報の価値についての考察が容易になると考えた。人の行為と

PROPAGATING THE FLUID MODEL OF PRODUCTION PROCESSES WITH TIME DELAY
Get PDFProcess delay may largely reduce the production revenues of a business, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises. In our previous report, the production process was treated as a propagating fluid, and its delay was assumed as a lead time delay. As a new our perspective, the downstream process is delayed by restraining the propagation of the upstream process . Moreover, we present that the propagation model with delay is equivalent to an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) process in mathematical finance.To obtain the parameters of the delay time and process stages, the stationary transition distribution is solved by analyzing the Fokker-Plank equation in numerical simulations.The types of production flow systems corresponding to different transition distributions are also analyzed.journal articl
A New Information Culture Brought by Information and Communication Technology ~Changes in Lifestyle and Social Style Estimated from Information Behavior of University Students~
Get PDF情報通信技術によりもたらされた新しい情報文化と考えられる“生活様式あるいは行動様式”、“情報処理様式”、“社会様式”について学生の意識調査を行った。その結果、1）情報を使った価値の創造が十分でない情報文化、2）考えない情報文化、3)そのまま使用できる情報を選択する情報文化、4) 利便性を追求する情報文化、5）外出しない情報文化、6) 時空間の拡大を伴うコミュニケーションが可能な情報文化、7)ネットワークでつながっているが十分なコミュニケーションが成立しにくい情報文化などの傾向が認められた。
個人が情報を利活用できる知識基盤社会を実現するためには、1)著作権、プライバシー、個人情報の保護、ＩＤパスワードの管理、情報の信頼性など情報コンテンツを利活用するための自主学習力、2）情報を使って価値を創造する力と、選択行動で快適な日常生活を送る力を両立させる力が必要になると考えられた。departmental bulletin pape
A Case Study of Work Style Reform: SCSK Corporation

本稿では、それらをロジックや理屈ではなく、どのようにしたらできるのかという点を、インタビュイーである元SCSK 株式会社幹部の実体験を通じて得られた知見から議論を展開していく。
同社には、「生産性向上」「企業価値向上」「ワークライフバランス向上」の効果のサイクルというのがある。このサイクルを回すために４つの施策を実施している。第一に健康の推進、第二に残業削減と休暇取得、第三にダイバーシティ、第四にテレワークである。
同社は施策推進のために３つの切り口を考えている。それは、経営トップの熱意ともいえるトップメッセージ、誰もが身近な課題と感じるための見える化、社員のモチベーションをあげるためのインセンティブである。本稿では、この３つの切り口を踏まえて、４つの施策に関して議論してきたこと
