Get PDFこの論文は近世後期の蝦夷地におけるコンブ業を概観するものである。具体的には、近世後期のコンブ輸出の拡大、蝦夷地におけるコンブ生産の拡大、アイヌや和人の労働者の移住、彼らが働く労働環境の変化を関係づける試みである。
江戸幕府は1698（元禄11）年に海産物の乾物（俵物と諸色）を中国向けの貿易品として指定し、海産物の貿易体制が公式に成立した。これ以降、コンブは重要な輸出商品になり、主産地である蝦夷地においてコンブ漁業の漁場が拡大した。蝦夷地におけるコンブの産地は、18世紀の末に現在の釧路地方に達し、19世紀前半には現在の根室地方に達した。
コンブ漁業の拡大は労働者としての和人やアイヌの移住を伴った。アイヌの移住は和人の漁場経営者（場所請負商人ら）の強制によるものもあった。コンブ貿易の拡大が蝦夷地におけるコンブ漁業の拡大をもたらし、それが各地のアイヌの生活に深刻な影響を及ぼしたのである。departmental bulletin pape
A comparative study of health sport behaviors in virtual marathons by level of engagement Case study: "Virtual Fun Run in Thailand -Walking, Running in the land”
Get PDFIn this paper, it conducted a comparative study of different levels of involvement in the marathon, using the case of a marathon with the unique characteristic of having more than 50.0% of participants with low interest in the marathon. The purpose of this study was to analyze the behavior of low-involvement marathoners and to provide a marketing resource. As a case study, it focused on the “Virtual Fun Run in Thailand”, a virtual
marathon organized by the Japanese Association in Thailand. The marathon has three unique characteristics:1. It is free of charge, 2. It is possible to participate as a team of several people, 3. It attracts participants who are not normally interested in marathon running. The format of the race was virtual. There were two courses, 50 km and 100 km, and the goal was to complete the virtual course individually or in groups over a period of one month. The following four findings were obtained.1. the attrition rate was lower for group participants than for individual participants,2. Distances of 50 km and 100 km in one month had an impact on opportunities for health improvement, but did not lead to increased opportunities for exercise, 3. Designing a plan based on insight into the "satisfaction" of the target audience will lead to paid participation, 4. Those who have experienced virtual marathons are more likely to choose virtual marathons in the future. A Study on Cognition of Information in Pictograms of Public Signs
Get PDFピクトグラムは視覚的類像性によって対象を指示する特性を有する図記号であり、社会の様々な場面で活用されているが、本論では、ピクトグラムが特定の情報伝達を行うために公共サイン中で用いられる場合を対象とし、いかにして案内や誘導等の情報が伝達され得るかを検証した。
検証にあたっては、ピクトグラムが伝達する情報内容が、もともと図案の中に内在するわけではなく、認知主体が図案の中に自らの行為の可能性を認識し、その行為の可能性に基づいて情報を認識するとの前提に立ち、間主観的身体性、身体経験に基づく動態性、情報内容の合目的性という観点から考察を進めた。
さらに、公共サイン以外のピクトグラムとの比較を行ったうえで、公共サインにおいては、認知主体が自らの経験に基づいて動作を行う自己像をピクトグラムに投影し、それを他者の視点で認識することにより、動態的な行為の可能性を認知していることを指摘した。departmental bulletin pape
EU Language Policy and Brexit: Status of English after the Withdrawal of the UK
Get PDFThis study aims to analyze Brexit from the perspective of language policy studies. Brexit has transformed the linguistic landscape of the European Union (EU) since the largest Englishdominating state withdrew from the organization. After the withdrawal of the UK, no member state has English as its designated official language; other English-speaking countries such as Ireland and Malta have Irish and Maltese as their official languages, respectively. Following the UK referendum in 2016, a rumor spread that English will be removed from the EU’s list of official languages. However, English has been used as the so-called lingua franca in almost all EU institutions. It is unrealistic and impossible to eliminate English from the list of official languages.
To analyze this inherent conflict, I describe the history of the EU language regime? complete equality of official languages of member-states?and highlight the skepticism toward the language regime. This study concludes that (1) Brexit reveals the ad hoc characteristic of the EU’s language regime (equality of all official languages); (2) The withdrawal of the UK, which seemed to be the“ withdrawal of English,” has undoubtedly advanced the acceptance of English.departmental bulletin pape
The Current Condition and Issues of Medical Tourism in Thailand ：A Study on the Marketing Management Process

analysis, the paper discusses how the marketing management process is being developed. Massage for example, has been practiced in Thailand since about 700
years ago. It has established its own positioning in the field of wellness services. The service is also actively offered in private hospitals. Furthermore, it was revealed that the country is promoting medical tourism as a national strategy, with a cross-section of ministries and agencies, and national marketing and promotion activities. The tourism industry in Thailand accounts for about 12-14% of the gross domestic product, of which medical tourism expenditure accounts for 1%, and tourism expenditure is higher than that of non-medical tourists. Since 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has restricted tourism activities around the world. In the future, the research must examine the current situation and issues of the tourism industry and marketing of advanced medical tourism in Thailand.departmental bulletin pape
Arc, a New Transit Fare Payment System in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region
Get PDFカナダ国アルバータ州の州都エドモントン市は世界で初めてLRT を導入した公共交通先進地として有名である。本稿では、2021 年秋にエドモントン都市圏の公共交通に新たに導入された運賃収受システムである「Arc」を概観し、カナダの他都市圏および日本との比較を行った。
その結果、カナダの他都市圏では従来の紙乗車券や磁気乗車券の置き換えとしてIC カード乗車券が導入されているのに対して、エドモントンではArc の導入を機に運賃上限制度(fare caps)を採り入れたことが特徴であることが明らかになった。
エドモントンでArc が普及するためには「Arc を利用した方が得である」ような運賃制度の設計が必要不可欠である。その点において、fare caps は一定の効果が見込めるが、利便性が高い乗車券をArc 上でいかに代替するかがETS にとっての課題となる。departmental bulletin pape

Japanese University Students’ Exposure to and Attitudes toward Singular They
Get PDFSingular they (ST) is the use of they as an epicene pronoun; that is, a pronoun with a singular, genderless antecedent. ST is a well-established part of the English lexicon and is the epicene pronoun of choice by native English speakers in many contexts. However, its use and acceptance among L2 English speakers varies more widely, influenced by factors such as the amount of exposure to natural English, the socio-linguistics of the L1 language and culture, and the relative emphasis placed by the L1 culture on accuracy and rules.
This exploratory study examines the exposure to and attitudes toward ST by 55 Japanese university students of low-intermediate English proficiency. Results indicate that although participants believed ST to be useful, they also held negative perceptions of it, which seemed to stem mainly from lack of exposure and from grammatical beliefs that conflicted with ST. Despite this, 74% said they wanted to try using ST more. These results point to a need in Japanese EFL classrooms and textbooks to incorporate ST instruction.departmental bulletin pape
