Lo scavo della fornace di H. Triada fu l’ultima ‘fatica’ militante di Doro Levi
LA FORNACE DA VASAIO TM IB DI HAGHIA TRIADA. L’IMPIANTO
The aim of this paper is to deepen the investigation of the kiln published in 1975 by D. Levi and C. Laviosa, with commendable zeal and documentation. Construction details are now comparable with those of other kilns excavated in Late Minoan Crete
PER UNA RILETTURA «FUNZIONALE» DELL’ALA SUD-OCCIDENTALE DEL PALAZZO DI FESTOS: IL CASO DEI VANI IL-XXVII/XVIII
The purpose of this research is to verify, in a preliminary form, a sector of the South West wing of the first palace of Phaistos, excavated by D. Levi during the 1950s. This part of the building, which has yielded a substantial number of finds, has always been highly problematic for the interpretation of data. This contribution is a proposal to create a connection to research carried out in recent years and concerning structures within and outside the palatial building, which now offers a more comprehensive reading of the context for the Protopalatial period. While waiting for a new, extensive architectural survey we found it necessary to conduct a review of the contexts in a limited number of rooms, with a series of preliminary observations on the nature and function of some architectural features, taking into account the recent shifts in methodological approach. In subsequent contributions, dedicated to the remaining areas, we consider the first results, fitting them into an overview, which requires a further detailed analysis of the data

LA FORNACE DA VASAIO TM IB DI HAGHIA TRIADA. LE CERAMICHE E IL SISTEMA DI PRODUZIONE, DISTRIBUZIONE E CONSUMO
This study provides a complete and updated edition of the pottery recovered during Levi and Laviosa’s excavation of the LM IB kiln at H. Triada and, on the basis of a reassessment of old and new data concerning pottery production in the LM I western Mesara (including Linear A tablet HT 31), proposes a reconstruction, as complete as possible, of the intra- and extra-site system of production, distribution and consumption into which the kiln was inserted
LA FORNACE DA VASAIO TM IB DI HAGHIA TRIADA. UNA RICONSIDERAZIONE DELLA TAVOLETTA HT 31
Of the many studies dedicated to tablet HT 31 the one conducted by Duhoux has certainly solved the largest number of questions, with the exception of a precise identification of the types of vases represented. This paper tackles this issue with a structuralist approach and starts from a comparison with the LM I formal repertoire which was actually used at AyiaTriada. The structural analysis of the tablet underlines the presence of two sections: the first is characterised by the ideogram of the tripod and by ideograms of larger dimensions and by small quantities (maximum a few tents); the second is characterised by smaller ideograms and by large quantities (hundreds and thousands). The starting point for an adequate understanding are the vases of the second section, which are clearly identifiable as conical cups and small bowls, with a ratio of 1:10. The vases of the first section are certainly storage and pouring vases of medium dimension, probably stamnoi, pithoid amphorae, spouted jars, and less probably cylindrical pithos, globular pithos and pithoid jar. It remains in doubt whether the assemblage was in bronze, as suggested by the ideogram of the tripod, or ceramic, as suggested by the large quantities
DAL ‘VASSOIO TRIPODATO’ AL KERNOS: UN SET DI CERAMICHE DA HAGHIA TRIADA E IL SUO CONTRIBUTO ALLA CONOSCENZA DEL RITUALE MINOICO
In 1985, during stratigraphical soundings carried out by V. La Rosa in the north sectorof the Haghia Triada settlement, remains of a house destroyed by fire at the beginningof LM IA were brought to light under the floor of room c of the LM IIIA monumental EdificioOvest. The best preserved sector of the LM IA house was a small rectangular room namedc/2, partially covered by the later structures and 1.65 m in width on its east-west axis in itsbetter preserved southern part. In its southeast corner, 21 vases and 8 stone tools were foundaround and upon a large high slab (0.30 ✕ 0.25 m) placed on the floor, while the deep destructionlayer of the house also yielded four loom weights and fragments of two potter’s wheels
