Redo transcatheter aortic valve implantation: Our single-center experience and mid-term outcomes
Objectives: In this study, we present our mid-term outcomes on redo transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Patients and methods: Between June 2012 and May 2019, a total of eight TAVI-in-TAVI patients (2 males, 6 females; mean age: 73.8±3.9 years; range, 66 to 79 year) were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were evaluated for comorbidity, characteristics of the first TAVI valve, indications for redo-TAVI, transthoracic echocardiographic parameters, mortality, pacemaker requirement, and valve function during follow-up. Results: Five (62.5%) of the patients required a redo-TAVI procedure due to severe aortic regurgitation, while three (37.5%) required a redo-TAVI procedure due to degeneration of the first TAVI valve. The first TAVI valves of the patients were two Portico™, four CoreValve™ and two Edwards SAPIEN™. In redo-TAVI procedures of the patients, four CoreValve™, two Portico™, and two MyVal™ valves were used. The median time after the first procedure was 62 months. One patient had hypertensive pulmonary edema during the procedure and was intubated, and in-hospital mortality occurred due to infectious causes during intensive care follow-up. There was no in-hospital mortality and no need for pacemaker in other patients. There was no mortality at a median follow-up of 31 months after redo-TAVI procedures. Conclusion: Redo-TAVI procedure is a feasible intervention and can be successfully done in selected patients requiring reintervention due to valve degeneration or severe aortic regurgitation
Investigation of Different Ratio Zn Doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 Photocatalytic Degradation in the Methylene Blue
In this study, CsPb(ClBr)3 perovskite quantum dot (PQD) structure with different Zn doping ratios was produced by the hot injection method. When the absorption range of the obtained materials was examined between 200 and 800 nm, it was observed that the maximum peak value was reached at 400 nm. When we look at TEM images morphologically, it is observed that the particle sizes obtained were in the range of 2–10 nm. Photocatalysis studies were recorded separately for CsPb(Cl/Br)3 and all Zn-doped CsPb0.87Zn0.13ClBr2 and CsPb0.74Zn0.26ClBr2 for pH: 7 and pH: 10 by evaluating the reduction of methylene blue in UV–vis absorption spectrum. It was observed that the effect increased as the Zn doping increased, especially in the reduction of methylene blue obtained at a pH 10 level. The maximum photocatalytic degradation of 93.98%, 94.99%, and 96.99% were achieved for CsPb(Cl/Br)3, CsPb0.87Zn0.13ClBr2, and CsPb0.74Zn0.26ClBr2, respectively. The Zn-doped CsPb(ClBr)3 QDs and their photocatalysis performances offer a crucial perspective for methylene blue degradation
Thornthwaite method based climate classifying and generation of GIS based climate boundary maps: a case of Kozlu District on the Western Black Sea coast of Turkey
It is necessary to know the climatic conditions and classes in order to address a region’s climate-related problems and ensure its sustainability. Kozlu, located on the Black Sea coast in the Black Sea region of Turkey, is a district where underground mining, fishing, sea tourism and agricultural activities are conducted. The district faces challenges due to geo-environmental factors, including landslides, subsidence, and floods, necessitating the identification of climate classes and characteristics to support sustainable development. For this reason, data for the last thirty years from four meteorological stations representing the Kozlu district were obtained. It was associated with the location, and then the Kriging interpolation method was applied. After this, water balances were calculated by applying the Thornthwaite climate classification method, and GIS-based climate boundary maps were generated using the same method. In the climate classification made by the Thornthwaite method, it was observed that the humid climate characteristic was dominant throughout the district. The drought index indicates moderate summer water deficiency in the north and the south of the district. In the south of the district, it is characterized by little or no water deficiency. Considering that the annual precipitation amounts at the stations located in the south of the district are higher than in the other areas, and the time interval in which water deficiency occurs is shorter, the fact that the climate feature of little or no water deficiency is seen moving south in the study area shows that the results are quite compatible with each other. In addition, according to the results of the summer concentration index, the entire study area was observed to be dominated by a marine climate. Climate boundary maps consisting of precipitation efficiency, temperature efficiency, drought and summer concentration index maps will contribute to monitoring climate change in the district
On subinjectivity domains of finitely generated modules
A module M is called FG-injective if every homomorphism from M to a finitely generated module K factors through an injective module, generalizing the injective modules properly. If the subinjectivity domain of M consists of exactly the FG-injective modules, then M is said to be fg-indigent. Properties of FG-injective modules and of fg-indigent modules are studied, and the concept of si-portfolio is considered for finitely generated modules. The collection of all subinjectivity domains of all finitely generated modules is also considered, and the cases where this collection forms a chain or has a single or two elements are investigated.</p
Effect of the synchronized telerehabilitation-based upper extremity training program on hand-arm functions in people with multiple sclerosis
Background: Between 60 % and 75 % of people with MS (PwMS) report having upper extremity dysfunction. Synchronized telerehabilitation offers immediate feedback and personalized treatment beyond standard clinical services. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of an 8-week synchronized telerehabilitation-based upper extremity training program on hand-arm function in PwMS and compare these effects with an asynchronous treatment group. Method: The Synchronized group (n=12) received online upper extremity exercises twice a week from a physiotherapist. The Asynchronous group (n=13) performed the same exercises via instructional videos. All participants were assessed at baseline and after 8 weeks using the Nine-Hole Peg Test (N[sbnd]HPT), JAMAR Hand Dynamometer, and the Arm Function Questionnaire for Multiple Sclerosis (AMSQ). Additionally, quality of life, fatigue, physical activity, participation, and pain were evaluated using various validated scales and questionnaires. Results: The Synchronized group showed significant improvements in the N[sbnd]HPT, JAMAR Hand Dynamometer scores, and the AMSQ after 8 weeks (p0.05). The Asynchronous group also displayed improvements in upper extremity function, but these were less pronounced compared to the synchronized group. Conclusion: The results show that synchronized-based telerehabilitation training performed with a physiotherapist is an effective method on hand-arm function. In addition, synchronized training seems to be effective on fatigue, quality of life and participation in PwMS
Development of one-part geopolymer binder produced from alkali fused boron mine tailings
The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether the boron mine tailings can be used as a raw material in producing one-part geopolymer binder by using the alkali fusion method. The boron mine tailings and alkali activator were calcined at 650 °C for 3h in a furnace. Both sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate were used at different ratios as the alkali activator during the calcination process. The setting times, mechanical properties, sorptivity, and drying shrinkage of the one-part geopolymer mixtures based on alkali-fused boron mine tailings were investigated within the scope of this study. Furthermore, microstructural analyses were performed on one-part geopolymer paste samples to complement the obtained test results. The highest compressive strength value (24.2 MPa) was obtained from specimens activated with sodium hydroxide (4 % Na2O by binder weight), while the highest flexural strength value (4.3 MPa) was obtained from the specimens with 20 % sodium carbonate. New crystalline phases such as merwinite, monticellite, sodium peroxide, and magnesium oxide were identified in the alkali-fused boron mine tailings. Ultimately, the main reaction product contributing to specimens' compressive strength development was identified as the riversideite phase
