18-60 Yaş Grubu Kadınlarda Beslenme Alışkanlığını Etkileyen Etmenler ve Fiziksel Aktivite ile Beslenme Alışkanlığı Arasındaki İlişki
Amaç: Mersin ili Mut ilçesinde bir aile sağlığı merkezine bağlı 18-60 yaş grubu kadınlarda beslenme alışkanlığını etkileyen etmenler ve fiziksel aktivite ile beslenme alışkanlığı arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesidir.Gereç ve Yöntem: Kesitsel tipte yapılan bu araştırma Mersin ili Mut ilçesinde bir aile sağlığı merkezinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmada Tanımlayıcı Veri Kayıt Formu, Beslenme Alışkanlıkları Ölçeği ve Uluslararası Fiziksel Aktivite Anketi (Kısa Form) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri yüz yüze görüşme yöntemiyle toplanmıştır.Bulgular: Araştırmaya 830 kadın katılmıştır. Lisenin altında öğrenimi olan, öğünlerini yardımcısı ya da komşusu pişiren kadınların şişmanlığa karşı önyargıları daha yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Çalışmayan, öğünlerini yardımcısı ya da komşusu pişiren kadınların şişmanlığın getirdiği olumlu olumsuz düşünceler puanı daha yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Bedenini zayıf olarak algılayan, yeterli ve dengeli beslendiğini belirten, günde üçten az ana öğün tüketen, diyetisyene hiç başvurmadığını belirten kadınların şişmanlığa karşı kendilik algısı daha yüksektir (p<0.01). Evli olan, yeterli ve dengeli beslendiğini belirten, öğün saatinin düzenli olduğunu belirten, öğünlerini kendi hazırlayan kadınların yemek yeme davranışı puanı daha yüksektir (p<0.05). Kadınların fiziksel aktivite düzeyi ile beslenme alışkanlıkları arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunmamıştır (p>0.05).Sonuç: Araştırmada kadınların bazı sosyodemografik özellikleri, beden ağırlığı algısı, yeterli ve dengeli beslenme algısı, düzenli öğün saati algısı ve diyetisyene başvuru düzeyi ile Beslenme Alışkanlıkları Ölçeği’nin alt boyutları arasında ilişki bulunmuştur. Kadınların fiziksel aktivite düzeyi ile beslenme alışkanlıkları arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunmamıştır. Topluma yönelik özellikle öğrenim düzeyi düşük ve çalışmayan kadınlara yeterli, dengeli ve sağlıklı beslenmenin önemi konusunda eğitimlerin yapılması önerilir.</p
The Impact of Grand Multiparity on Perinatal and Neonatal Results in Females Over 35 Years of Age
BACKGROUND/AIMS: The purpose of this current research was to evaluate the perinatal and neonatal outcomes among >35-year-old grand multiparous, multiparous, and primiparous pregnant females. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, a total of 156 patients who underwent pregnancy follow-up and gave birth in the obstetrics clinic between January 2018 and January 2024 were included. The participants were divided into 3 groups based on primiparous (single birth), multiparous (2-4 births), and grand multiparous (5 or more births). The age, parity, type of birth, presence of perineal tears, blood transfusion history, presence of gestational hypertension, and gestational diabetes during pregnancy were scanned retrospectively from the hospital database of the females analyzed in the research. RESULTS: The mean body mass index of grand multiparous pregnant females was 27.4 +/- 3.1 kg/m(2), which was considerably larger than that of the other groups (p=0.032). The gravida number of grand multiparous pregnant females was 6 (5.7) and the parity number was 6 (5.5), which were found to be higher than in the other groups (p=0.012, p=0.008, respectively). The rate of perineal laceration was considerably higher in the primiparous pregnant group than in the other groups (p=0.021). When compared with regard to pregnancy and birth-complications, estimated blood loss volume and >1000 cc bleeding rates were shown to be considerably larger in primiparous-pregnancies than in other pregnancies (p=0.012, p=0.046, respectively). Neonatal intensive care unit need was observed tobe significantly greater in the primiparous pregnant groups than in the other groups (p=0.024). CONCLUSION: In this current research we showed that grand multiparity (GM) has complication rates similar to other groups and is not a risk factor alone. Advanced maternal age may also be associated with difficulties associated with GM. Pregnancy monitoring and birth should be performed more frequently and carefully to reduce risks in this patient group
Picropodophyllin, an IGF‑1 receptor inhibitor, enhances oxaliplatin efficacy in chemoresistant colorectal cancer HCT116 cells by reducing metastatic potential
The insulin‑like growth factor receptor (IGF‑1R) axis drives cellular growth, survival and chemoresistance in colorectal cancer (CRC) by promoting proliferative signaling, anti‑apoptotic effects and epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT). Targeting the IGF‑1R pathway is there‑ fore a promising strategy, not only for overcoming drug resistance, but also for reducing migration and metastatic behavior related to EMT. The present study aimed to evaluate the potential of picropodophyllin (PPP), a selective IGF‑1R inhibitor, to enhance the effects of oxaliplatin (OX) in HCT116 and OX‑resistant HCT116‑R cells. Cell viability was evaluated using a resazurin‑based assay following 48‑h combination treatment with OX at its IC50 concentrations (HCT116 cells, 53 µM and HCT116‑R cells, 324 µM) and PPP (1 µM). Migration was assessed using wound healing assays, with images captured and analyzed at 0 and 48 h. Additionally, immunofluorescence staining was performed to assess E‑cadherin and vimentin expression, evaluating epithelial and mesenchymal characteristics. In HCT116‑R cells, the combination of OX (53 µM) and PPP signifi‑ cantly reduced cell viability by 0.65‑fold compared with OX alone (P=0.0286). Wound healing assays demonstrated that combining PPP with OX (53 and 324 µM) significantly decreased migration, with 0.34‑fold and 0.22‑fold reduc‑ tions, respectively (P<0.05). Immunofluorescence staining revealed that this combination also significantly increased E‑cadherin expression, by 1.37‑ and 1.63‑fold, respectively (P<0.05), indicating the role of PPP in enhancing epithelial characteristics and reducing EMT‑related drug resistance. These findings highlight the potential for combining PPP with OX to enhance the cytotoxic and anti‑metastatic effects of OX in chemo‑resistant CRC cells, thus offering a prom‑ ising strategy for overcoming drug resistance and improving patient outcomes in CRC treatment

Oluklarından Sızan Çoğulluk: Protez Hafıza Alanı Olarak Otobiyografik Grafik Roman
Hafızaya olan merak, moderniteden çok önceden beri vardır. Ancak, içinde bulunduğumuz dönemde belleğe dair ilginin ivmelenmesinde, modernitenin yarattığı unutkanlıkla, yapay belleğin imkânları arasındaki gerilimin özgün payı söz konusudur. Beraberinde, farklı bakış açıları içeren dönemler arasında, ortak aktarımları da görmek mümkündür. Bu kapsamda imge, duyumsama ve toplumsallaştırma bağlamlarıyla kurulan, Aristoteles’in anamnesis’inden, Landsberg’in protez hafızasına uzanan bellek patikası, çalışmanın da yerleştiği arka planı oluşturmaktadır. Devamındaki çizgi roman/grafik roman formu ise, bu çalışmayla patikanın sonundaki protez hafızaya, dizinsel olmayan, ikonografik yapısı ve gündeliği taşıyan otobiyografi biçimiyle, paradigma değiştirici olarak eklenmeye adaydır. Çünkü gündelik/sıradan olanla kurulan öznel anlatı, gerçekliğe zeval getirmek yerine, onu tanıklık/müzakere kapsamını genişlettiği protez bağlantılarını kurmaya açık hale getirir. Çalışma odağında yer alan otobiyografik grafik roman, gerçeği estetize etmeyen fakat gerçekçi biçiminden de sıyırarak aktaran anlatım biçimiyle, hafıza anlatılarının görsel metaforu olarak kendini sunar. Bu kapsamda, çok modlu söylem analizi ile incelenen 2000 sonrası üretilmiş beş otobiyografik grafik roman, doğrudan deneyimlenmeyen fakat aktarımlarla üstlenilebilen protez hafızanın imkânlarını, toplumsal cinsiyet merkezindeki kadın+ hikâyeleri örnekleriyle doğrulamaya çalışır.Interest in memory has been present long before modern times. However, the tension between forgetfulness induced by modernity and the opportunities for artificial memory has significantly contributed to the growing interest in memory today. Moreover, it is possible to observe common themes across different periods from various perspectives. In this context, the memory path from Aristotle's concept of anamnesis to Landsberg's notion of prosthetic memory, framed by the contexts of image, sensation, and socialization, forms the foundation of this study. The following comics and graphic novels are proposed for inclusion in the prosthetic memory framework as paradigm shifters, due to their non-indexical, iconographic structures and autobiographical narratives which portray the everyday. Rather than undermine reality, the subjective narratives rooted in the ordinary create opportunities for prosthetic connections, thus broadening the scope of testimony and negotiation. The autobiographical graphic novel, which is the focus of this study, serves as a visual metaphor for memory narratives. Its narrative style avoids aestheticizing reality and instead conveys it by stripping it of traditional realistic representations. In this context, five autobiographical graphic novels produced after 2000 are analyzed through multimodal discourse analysis. The goal is to explore the potential of prosthetic memory—memories that are not directly experienced but can be imagined through narration—using examples centered on women's stories about gender.</p
Climate land use and other drivers' impacts on island ecosystem services: A global review
Islands are diversity hotspots and vulnerable to environmental degradation, climate variations, land use changes and societal crises. These factors can exhibit interactive impacts on ecosystem services. The study reviewed a large number of papers on the climate change-islands-ecosystem services topic worldwide. Potential inclusion of land use changes and other drivers of impacts on ecosystem services were sequentially also recorded. The study sought to investigate the impacts of climate change, land use change, and other non-climatic driver changes on island ecosystem services. Explanatory variables examined were divided into two categories: environmental variables and methodological ones. Environmental variables include sea zone geographic location, ecosystem, ecosystem services, climate, land use, other driver variables, Methodological variables include consideration of policy interventions, uncertainty assessment, cumulative effects of climate change, synergistic effects of climate change with land use change and other anthropogenic and environmental drivers, and the diversity of variables used in the analysis. Machine learning and statistical methods were used to analyze their effects on island ecosystem services. Negative climate change impacts on ecosystem services are better quantified by land use change or other non-climatic driver variables than by climate variables. The synergy of land use together with climate changes is modulating the impact outcome and critical for a better impact assessment. Analyzed together, there is little evidence of more pronounced effects for a specific sea zone, ecosystem, or ecosystem service. Climate change impacts may be underestimated due to the use of a single climate variable deployed in most studies. Policy interventions exhibit low classification accuracy in quantifying impacts indicating insufficient efficacy or integration in the studies
