No full text
This chapter provides an overview of the topography of the neuraxis, its vascularization, and the ventricular system in the human brain. It explores the new perspectives offered by the use of high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (hMRI) and with the auxilium of relevant dissections of the human brain performed through various methods including the Klingler's one. Overall, this chapter serves as a valuable resource for students, researchers, and healthcare professionals seeking a comprehensive understanding of the neuraxis, and it lays a foundation for further exploration into the complexities of the human brain and its intricate network of structures and functions. Lastly, this chapter may be absolutely necessary to understand the anatomy of the brain region described in the chapters of this book.</p

OBJECTIVES:The domain of emergency medicine (EM) is not only rapidly evolving but also witnessing a significant surge in research publications, particularly in T & uuml;rkiye. In this context, this study aimed to investigate the publication outcomes of abstracts presented at national EM conferences and evaluate the quality of these publications, thereby contributing to the understanding of the evolving landscape of EM research in T & uuml;rkiye.METHODS:To ensure the accuracy and reliability of our findings, we meticulously examined abstracts presented at the annual conferences organized by the EM Association of T & uuml;rkiye and Emergency Physicians Association of T & uuml;rkiye from January 2015 to December 2021. We screened public databases such as Web of Science, SCOPUS, PubMed, Google Scholar, and ULAKBIM to identify any subsequent publications of these abstracts. The data on publication dates, and journal impact factors were thoroughly analyzed.RESULTS:The study included 10,055 abstracts, comprising 3794 (37.7%) oral presentations and 6261 (62.3%) poster presentations. Of these, 829 abstracts (8.2%) were later published as full publications in journals indexed in at least one major database. Among the published articles, 36 (4.3%) appeared in Q1 journals, while 346 (41.6%) were published in journals without quartile rankings. The median duration until publication was observed to be 12 months.CONCLUSION:The publication rate for abstracts presented at EM conferences was 8%, with most articles published within 2 years. Oral presentations had a higher publication rate than poster presentations, indicating higher quality. The authors' affiliations and the studies' designs emerged as pivotal factors influencing the success of publication

An unusual predation event by the Anatolian Rock Lizard, Anatololacerta anatolica (Werner, 1900) on the dwarf snake, Eirenis modestus (Martin, 1838)

The members of the Lacertidae are rarely known to prey on snakes or snake-like reptiles. This study presents the first record of snake predation by Anatololacerta anatolica. The stomach content of a female specimen was found to contain a snake of the Eirenis modestus. This study provides some of the first direct data on the feeding biology of A. anatolica. It also contributes to the trophic diversity of the Lacertidae family by highlighting the potential feeding flexibility of the species.</p
