    Mitogenome of Xya pfaendleri (Orthoptera: Caelifera): Its comparative description and phylogenetic position within Tridactylidea

    We report the comparative examination of the complete mitochondrial genome of the pygmy mole cricket Xya pfaendleri (Orthoptera: Caelifera: Tridactylidae). The mitogenome consists of 13 protein-coding regions, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one control region, following the gene order of the ancestral pancrustacean mitogenome. The length of the mitogenome in Xya pfaendleri is 15352 bp. The start and stop codons of the protein-coding genes exhibit the general pattern observed in orthopterans. The data indicate that the pattern of gene overlapping/intergenic sequences exhibits a significant phylogenetic signal. A phylogenetic tree inferred using 12 mitogenomes (seven belonging to Tridactylidea, three to Acrididea, and two to Ensifera) confirms the sister group relationship of Acrididea and Tridactylidea. The relationship among the families of Tridactylidea is Cylindrachetidae + (Ripipterygidae + Tridactylidae). The mitogenome sequences of Xya and Tridactylus constitute a single clade, sharing a last common ancestor 94 million years ago, and rendering the first genus paraphyletic. The present preliminary data suggest that we still have much to learn about the evolution and diversity of Tridactylidea

    Exploring Iconic Foods of Hatay Cuisine as a Cultural Identity

    Since food is important to define and embody the gastronomic characteristics of a place, it is considered as part of the cultural capital that represents the expression of a country, society and history. Therefore, the symbolic foods of the region form the basis of the culinary culture. Iconic foods culturally encompass historical depth, skills, knowledge, eating habits, and other traditions. Although it varies from culture to culture, foods that reflect the values of the countries or regions are seen as a symbol of cultural identity. In this context the main purpose of the current research is to determine what is the iconic foods in Hatay cuisine, where the variety of food is very high. For this purpose study is an exploratory research. The data related to the research were collected between April 30 - May 15 2023 by means of a questionnaire. In total, 412 questionnaires were obtained from public of Hatay. The results of the this study shows the potential of 55 the iconic dishes in Hatay cuisine. Origins of these foods and their cultural values shows that the of iconic dishes in Hatay cuisine is a symbol of cultural identity

    Determining the reliability of diagnosis and treatment using artificial intelligence software with panoramic radiographs

    Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of an artificial intelligence (AI) program in identifying dental conditions using panoramic radiographs (PRs), as well as to assess the appropriateness of its treatment recommendations. Materials and Methods: PRs from 100 patients (representing 4497 teeth) with known clinical examination findings were randomly selected from a university database. Three dentomaxillofacial radiologists and the Diagnocat AI software evaluated these PRs. The evaluations were focused on various dental conditions and treatments, including canal filling, caries, cast post and core, dental calculus, fillings, furcation lesions, implants, lack of interproximal tooth contact, open margins, overhangs, periapical lesions, periodontal bone loss, short fillings, voids in root fillings, overfillings, pontics, root fragments, impacted teeth, artificial crowns, missing teeth, and healthy teeth. Results: The AI demonstrated almost perfect agreement (exceeding 0.81) in most of the assessments when compared to the ground truth. The sensitivity was very high (above 0.8) for the evaluation of healthy teeth, artificial crowns, dental calculus, missing teeth, fillings, lack of interproximal contact, periodontal bone loss, and implants. However, the sensitivity was low for the assessment of caries, periapical lesions, pontic voids in the root canal, and overhangs. Conclusion: Despite the limitations of this study, the synthesized data suggest that AI-based decision support systems can serve as a valuable tool in detecting dental conditions, when used with PR for clinical dental applications
