    Taila Bindu Pareeksha as a Non-Invasive Prognostic Tool - A Study in Critical Ill Patients

    Background: Modern medicine employs numerous disease-specific prognostic scales to evaluate patient outcomes. While effective, these tools are often invasive, costly, and limited to pathologies. Ayurveda emphasizes the need for a universal, non-invasive prognostic marker applicable across diverse clinical conditions. Taila Bindu Pareeksha, a classical urine-based technique, offers such potential through the analysis of oil spread dynamics. Objective: This pilot study aimed to assess the prognostic utility of Taila Bindu Pareeksha in critically ill patients, validate its reliability, and compare its diagnostic characteristics with healthy individuals to identify distinguishing patterns. Methods: Thirty-two critically ill patients were enrolled and their morning urine samples were analysed using Taila Bindu Pareeksha alongside standard physical and chemical urinalysis. A healthy control was examined using identical parameters in ratio of diseased subjects. Results: Healthy individuals showed stable urine characteristics and consistent oil spread patterns, while critically ill patients exhibited notable deviations in both biochemical markers and Taila Bindu dynamics. Conclusion: Taila Bindu Pareeksha offers a reproducible, non-invasive Ayurvedic approach for universal prognostic assessment across clinical conditions

    Ayurveda, the holistic healing system, emphasizes the balance of doshas and dhatus for optimal health. Rasa Pradoshaja Vikara refers to disorders caused by imbalances in Rasa dhatu, the vital fluid responsible for nourishment and circulation. Hypothyroidism, often linked to Rasa dhatu dysfunction, is characterized by symptoms like lethargy, weight gain, and hormonal irregularities. Ayurveda approaches hypothyroidism through personalized treatments, including herbal drugs, panchakarma, and dietary adjustments to enhance digestion and metabolism. To establish an association between the features of Rasa Pradoshaja Vikara with hypothyroidism, and to critically discuss the therapeutic approaches outlined for Rasa Pradoshaja Vikara. Critical reviewing the concepts regarding the correlation of Rasa Pradoshaja Vikara with hypothyroidism and discuss about the treatment mentioned in the context of Rasa Pradoshaja Vikara is done referring to classic Ayurvedic textbooks, different articles, research journals and various online databases. The analysis of data revealed a significant overlap between the two conditions and demonstrated that Ayurvedic approaches targeting Rasa Dhatu Dushti can be effectively integrated with modern therapies to enhance the overall management and outcomes of hypothyroidism

    Background: Today’s world’s mortality rate depends on the infectious diseases and accounts for about 50% of all deaths. Deadly diseases of this century were mainly caused by bacterial infections. Biologically important plants were discovered by evaluation of ethnopharmacological data and they are locally populated with immediate therapeutic action. The recognition of any of the Dravya is through its Karma (Action). The Karma is mainly explained with the help of Rasa Panchaka in science of Ayurveda. Krimighna Karma is one such Karma which is responsible for the destruction of the Krimi. The plant Dugdhika is widely used in traditional medicine to cure various diseases, especially gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory disorders and skin disorders. Aim: To evaluate the Krimighna Karma of Dugdhika Patra Swarasa against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Materials and Methods: In this study, Dugdhika Patra (Euphorbia hirta Linn.) Swarasa was evaluated for its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria using well diffusion method. Observations and Results: The zone of inhibition was observed through agar well diffusion method. Swarasa had shown maximum Zone of inhibition (9mm) for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria when dispensed directly and moderate zone of inhibition (6mm) with diluted concentration after 24 hours of incubation period when compared to control group but not as that of standard group. These findings established the potential of Dugdhika Patra Swarasa has effective antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus. However, further studies are needed to evaluate the active compounds and probable medicinal benefits in humans by clinical trials

    Introduction: Ayurveda (Science of life) considers lifestyle and cosmetic aspects. Feet are the most often neglected and affected part of the body which forms most important part of the body Padadari (Crack heels) is condition which occurs due to excessive walking, wearing improper footwear/barefoot walkers and dirt, is characterized with appearance of dryness of feet, cracks, flaring patches, itchy skin, pain in palms and soles. Its prevalence is experienced everywhere and common in rural, cannot be considered as minor and neglected. It is considered under Kshudra Roga (minor ailments). Can be compared with Cracked heels/Heel fissures. Methods: in present study patients of Padadari (Crack heel) were treated with topical application of Sarjarasa Malahara (Sarjarasa Ointment). Results: Pharmacodynamics of ingredients were effective in management of Crack Fissures.  Discussion: Sarjarasa Malahara (Ointment) was used as remedy for Padadari. Response to treatment was recorded on assessment parameters at respective intervals and therapeutic effect was evaluated through symptomatic relief. Conclusion: Improvement was observed in parameters on completion of treatment

Acharyas have mentioned a variety of oral medications and Sthanika Chikitsa that corrects the Dosha Dushti and imparts Bala to the Sthana that provide significant relief to the symptoms. In the present case study, a 34-year-old patient presented with premenstrual symptoms and severe dysmenorrhea and pain in the vaginal and vulval region. She was treated with oral medications and two cycles of Yoni Abhyanga Sweda and Veshavara Dharana after which her symptoms significantly reduced

    In Vitro Comparative Analysis of Paranti (Ixora coccinea Linn) Roots and Leaves against Bacteria causing Diarrhea

    Paranti (Ixora coccinea Linn) is used in several regions of India, especially in rural communities, by traditional medicine practitioners to treat diarrhoea. However, no scientific data is available to justify the traditional potentials of the plant species in gastrointestinal disorders. This study evaluates the In vitro antibacterial activities on diarrhoea causing organisms. In vitro antidiarrheal activity of the decoction of leaves and roots of Paranti (Ixora coccinea Linn), was evaluated against Salmonella para typhi A, and Shigella flexneri by Agar Dilution Method and Time Kill Assay. The Agar Dilution Method showed no antibacterial activity of Paranti (Ixora coccinea Linn) root and leaf decoction against Shigella flexneri and Salmonella para typhi A at volumes ranging from 0.5 ml to 5 ml. In the Time Kill Assay, both root and leaf decoction exhibited moderate antibacterial activity against both bacteria at all time points, except for a lack of activity at 8 hours for the leaves against Salmonella para typhi A. These results suggest high antibacterial effectiveness, particularly in a time-dependent context, against bacteria causing diarrhoea. Thus In vitro antibacterial activities which support its use in traditional herbal medicine practice

    Background: Mukhadushika, commonly known as Acne Vulgaris, is a skin condition that significantly affects individuals during adolescence and early adulthood. This clinical study evaluates the effect of Kustumburadi Lepa in the management of Mukhadushika, focusing on various symptoms such as pain (Ruja), hardness (Ghana), burning sensation (Daha), itching (Kandu), and the overall lesion count.[1] Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of Kustumburadi Lepa in reducing the clinical symptoms of Mukhadushika. Methods: A single subject, a 21-year-old female student, was treated with Kustumburadi Lepa for 21 days. Clinical evaluations were conducted before and after treatment for symptom improvement. Results: Significant improvement was observed in the reduction of symptoms such as pain, hardness, and burning sensation. The patient showed a decrease in the overall grade of acne lesions from grade 3 to grade 1, along with complete resolution of associated symptoms. Conclusion: Kustumburadi Lepa proves to be an effective treatment for Mukhadushika, offering substantial relief from clinical symptoms with minimal side effects

    Clinical efficacy of Vrahat Dadimashtak Choorna in Sangrahani w.s.r. to IBS: A Critical Review

    The purpose of this review article is to have a comparative review of Sangrahani with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) with respect to modern medical science and to evaluate the efficacy of Vrahat Dadimashtak Choorna in treating Sangrahani w.s.r. to IBS.  At present time Sangrahani is correlated with IBS based on symptoms like alternate episodes of constipation and diarrhea (Mahurbadham mahurdravam), Stool accompanied by the passage of a large amount of mucus (Mala Niskasana with Shabda and Manda Vedena), fatigue (Durbalata Sadan Alasya). According to Ayurvedic literature, the potency and efficacy of Ayurvedic classical preparations depend upon the Rasa Panchaka, Desh (region), Kal (time), Ritu (season), their preparation method, and route of administration. This article mentions the efficacy of Vrahat Dadimashtak Choorna in treating Sangrahani w.s.r. to IBS. As per Acharya Sharangdhar, Vrahat Dadimashtak Choorna is also very useful for the treatment of other disorders like Atisaar (diarrhea), Gulma (abdominal tumor/abdominal lump), Mandagni (Improper digestion), Kasa (cough). All the contents of Vrahat Dadimashtak Choorna have been evaluated according to the research done by various research scholars.     Assessing the efficacy of Nagarjunabhra Rasa with 21 Bhavna in the management of First-Degree AV Block and Bradycardia: A Comprehensive Case Study

    First-degree AV block features a P-R interval over 0.2 seconds, often indicating early AV nodal disease. While it can be benign, especially in individuals with high vagal tone, fibrotic changes are common in older adults. A case study involving a patient with first-degree AV block and a 2.34-second sinus pause treated with Nagarjunabhra Rasa (Arjuna bark’s decoction) showed promising results. Administered as one 125 mg tablet twice daily for three months, the treatment normalized heart rate and eliminated sinus pauses without adverse effects. This suggests the formulation\u27s potential efficacy, warranting further study in larger populations
