Therapeutic Potential of Makhana Churna and Sharkarayukta Dugdha: An Ayurvedic Perspective
The foundation of lifelong health is established during the intrauterine period, where proper fetal growth and development are crucial determinants of future well-being. Ayurveda, the ancient science of life, emphasizes the critical importance of Garbha Vriddhi (fetal development) and prescribes specific dietary and lifestyle guidelines under Garbhini Paricharya (antenatal care) to ensure healthy offspring. Rasayana (rejuvenative) and Brimhana (nourishing) therapies form the cornerstone of intrauterine health maintenance. Among the various Rasayana Dravyas mentioned in Ayurvedic texts, Makhana (Euryale ferox Salisb.), known for its Madhura Rasa, Guru and Snigdha Guna, holds significant importance for promoting Dhatu Poshan (tissue nourishment) and enhancing vitality. Sharkarayukta Dugdha, a classical combination of sweetened milk, is recommended for pregnant women to nourish the fetus, enhance maternal Ojas, and ensure smooth parturition. The synergistic use of Makhana Churna (powdered Makhana) with Sharkarayukta Dugdha provides an excellent dietary intervention aimed at improving intrauterine nutrition, preventing low birth weight, and supporting healthy tissue development. Modern scientific studies have also highlighted Makhana’s high protein, calcium, antioxidant, and micronutrient content, making it beneficial for maternal health and fetal growth. Similarly, milk’s easily digestible proteins and Sharkara’s energy-enhancing properties contribute to meeting the increased metabolic demands of pregnancy. This article critically explores the Ayurvedic rationale and modern nutritional relevance of using Makhana Churna with Sharkarayukta Dugdha during pregnancy, aiming to present a holistic approach for promoting optimal intrauterine development, enhancing maternal health, and preventing fetal growth disorders through natural, time-tested interventions

Ayurvedic management of Alzheimer’s Disease - A Case Study
The prevalence of age-related cognitive decline is becoming an important public health concern as there is premature ageing due to various environmental and lifestyle changes. Alzheimer’s disease is now recognized as the most common disorder of dementia. Dementia is a syndrome – usually of a chronic or progressive nature – in which there is deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected from normal ageing. Features of Smrti Vibhrama and characteristics of Pranavruta Vyana are being observed as Alzheimer’s dementia. There is still no effective cure for dementia in contemporary medicine. So, developing an Ayurvedic protocol to treat dementia is a necessity. This is the case of a 66 -year-old male patient presented with loss of interest in daily activities, fatigue, reduced appetite and increased sleep for duration of 2 years. Diagnosis was done based on the criteria of Mini-mental status Examination Scale. The management was a combination of modalities including Shirodhara, Nasya, Dhoompana and internal medications. The treatment modalities were found to be effective in the cognitive and depressive symptoms as well as improving the social behaviour in dementia patient

Role of Pathya Apathya in the management of Surgical Disorders - A Review Article
In the science of Ayurveda, the management of Shalya Vikāras (surgical disorders) is not limited to surgical intervention alone, but also emphasizes a comprehensive approach that includes Āhāra (diet), Vihāra (lifestyle), and Manasika Bhāva (mental state). The principles of Pāthya (wholesome regimen) and Apāthya (unwholesome regimen) hold significant importance in the pre-operative (Pūrvakarma), operative (Pradhānakarma), and post-operative (Pascātkarma) phases of Shalyakarma. Classical texts like Suśruta Saṁhitā and Caraka Saṁhitā strongly emphasize that even a well-performed surgery may not yield desired results if Pāthya-Apāthya is neglected. Proper observance of Pāthya aids in Agnidīpana (enhancing digestive fire), Dhātu Pushti (nourishment of tissues), Vraṇa Ropaṇa (wound healing), and in the prevention of Upadravas (complications). Conversely, indulgence in Apāthya can lead to Agnimāndya, Āma Sanchaya, and delayed recovery. Modern evidence also supports that nutrition and lifestyle influence surgical outcomes, wound healing, and immunity. Thus, the inclusion of Pāthya-Apāthya in the management protocol of surgical disorders ensures a holistic, cost-effective, and patient-centric approach. This article explores the Saṁhitā-based references, clinical relevance, and modern correlations of Pāthya-Apāthya in the effective management of Surgical Disorders
