The Odonata of the Brooks Peninsula, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Get PDFCollection records of Odonata from the Brooks Peninsula, a little-known region on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, are presented. Get PDFDamage by the Douglas-fir cone moth, <i>Barbara colfaxiana</i> (Kearfott), in year N was significantly related to the size of the cone crop the preceding vear (N-1) in the interior of British Columbia but not at the coast. Damage by the Douglas-fir cone gall midge, <i>Contarinia oregonensis</i> Foote, at the coast was also significantly related to cone crop size the preceding year. Fluctuations in cone crop size appear to limit populations of these cone insects

The identities of <i>I. duzeei</i> Provancher (N.S.-Ont.) and <i>I. interruptus</i> Gillette & Baker (N.S.-Colo.) are discussed, and these species are removed from synonymy
Distribution of the apple maggot Rhagoletis pomonella (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Oregon
Get PDFData from a four-year (1981-1984) distributional study suggest that, in Oregon, the apple maggot <i>Rhagoletis pomonella</i> (Walsh) is established in the interior valleys (especially the Willamette Valley) along the Columbia River Gorge and at isolated locations along the Oregon coast. An analysis of the general distribution pattern and some earlier records suggests that the apple maggot may have been in Oregon for nearly four decades
