Mediterranean symbols for a Hispano-Roman city: Artemis/Diana, Pallas-Athena/Minerva and Pegasus on the coinage of Emporiae
No full textThis study analyses the dissemination of icons used on the coins minted by the provincial mint of
Emporiae. To this end, the study delves into aspects that have received little attention in the literature.
The first section explores the different phases that took place in the territory where the Hispano-
Roman city was to emerge. The second section examines the main aspects that shaped the projection
process of these monetary icons, taking into consideration important aspects such as the absence
of the imperial portrait, the closest parallels of these images, and the epigraphic elements used in
their dissemination. A detailed analysis of all the above allows us to conclude that the particular
iconological-monumental selections made by Emporiae had the sole objective of showcasing the city’s
complex nature, as it succeeded in integrating the different Hispanic, Roman, and Mediterranean
identities of the various populations that were involved in the establishment of Emporiae as a
municipium in Hispania Tarraconensis.Este estudio analiza el fenómeno de difusión de los iconos adoptados en las monedas acuñadas por
la ceca provincial de Emporiae. Para ello, esta aportación profundiza en aspectos que han recibido
poca atención en la investigación. El primer apartado explora las diferentes fases que tuvieron lugar
en el territorio donde surgiría la ciudad hispano-romana. La segunda parte examina los principales
aspectos que configuraron el proceso de proyección de estos íconos monetarios, tomando en
consideración aspectos importantes como la ausencia del retrato imperial, los paralelos más estrechos de estas imágenes y los elementos epigráficos utilizados en su difusión. El análisis detallado de todo
ello permite concluir que la particular selección iconológico-monumental elegida por Emporiae tuvo
como único objetivo mostrar el carácter complejo de la ciudad, ya que logró integrar las diferentes
identidades hispánicas, romanas y mediterráneas de las distintas poblaciones que participaron en el

No full textEl presente artículo aborda algunas publicaciones culturales del entorno universitario salmantino de la primera postguerra, donde tuvo gran protagonismo quien entre 1951 y 1956 fuera rector de su universidad: Antonio Tovar. A través de la revisión de las fuentes primarias y partiendo de algunos estudios culturales sobre la época, nos proponemos exponer el papel de las revistas Cátedra (1942-1945), Lazarillo (1943-1944) y Trabajos y Días (1946-1951), donde la recuperación de parte de aquella generación del 98 condenada al ostracismo, participó en el despertar de parte de la comunidad estudiantil.This article deals with some of the cultural publications of the University of Salamanca environment

1951 and 1956) played a leading role. The recovery of a part of the Generation of ‘98, that had been
condemned to ostracism, participated in the awakening of some student community members. We

(1946-1951) had in this movement through a review of the primary sources (the magazines) and

inicio del nuevo proyecto renacentista que dio lugar a una planta que, aun con reminiscencias góticas,
es absolutamente innovadora. A ella permanecieron fieles arquitectos y obispos a lo largo del tiempo,
lo que hizo que fuese un proyecto conocido en España y América motivo por el que a la hora de
construir una catedral muchas de ellas considerasen la seo giennense como inspiración, y eso es algo
que se refleja en sus plantas tal y como pretendemos demostrar en este artículo.The meeting of architects that took place in 1548 was a turning point in the Cathedral of Jaén, since
it was the beginning of the new Renaissance project that gave rise to a floor plan, which, even with
Gothic reminiscences, is innovative. Architects and bishops remained faithful to it over time, which
made it a well-known project not only in Spain, but also in America, which is why when building a
cathedral many of them were inspired by Jaén, something that is reflected in their plans as we intend

No full textLos mapas están compuestos por elementos geográficos y ornamentales. Estos últimos además de
pertenecer a la marginalia decorativa de la cartografía nos transmite un mensaje concreto, cumpliendo
la función para la que había sido creado. A la vez, los tipos y la decoración de cartelas han ido
evolucionando paralelamente al proceso artístico imperante en cada momento histórico. A lo largo
del periodo estudiado las características de estos grabados han sido muy distintos tanto por la belleza
ornamental como por las implicaciones sociales o políticas que han pretendido. Durante esta época
se han seleccionado todos aquellos mapas que tenían representado el territorio andaluz, para así
examinar la transformación de las cartelas en una misma región geográfica.The maps are composed of geographical and ornamental elements. The latter, in addition to belonging
to the decorative marginality of cartography, transmits a specific message, fulfilling the function for
which it was created. At the same time, the types and decoration of cartouche have evolved in parallel
with the artistic process prevailing in each historical moment. Throughout the period studied the
characteristics of these engravings have been very different both for the ornamental beauty and for the
social or political implications they have intended. During this time, all those maps that represented
the Andalusian territory were selected, in order to examine the transformation of the cartouche in the

Interpretable and multimodal fusion methodology to predict severe hypoglycemia in adults with type 1 diabetes
No full textType 1 diabetes (T1D) causes insulin deficiency and exogenous therapy is required for maintaining targeted glucose levels. Hypoglycemia is the most frequent side effect of insulin, being severe hypoglycemia (SH) one of the most critical hazards with a range of life-threatening consequences. Artificial intelligence (AI) and multimodal fusion have boosted predictive performance in different domains. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of early fusion (EF) and late fusion (LF) approaches for predicting SH, to create a methodology capable of achieving robust results in datasets with a low number of samples for predicting SH and to characterize the risk factors involved in the SH onset using explainable AI (XAI). Data from a case-control study comprising adults over 60 years with T1D and with diabetes duration of 20 years were used and three types of modalities were considered: (1) continuous glucose monitoring data (time series); (2) clinical codes (text); and (3) surveys related to fear, unawareness, depression, and cognitive tests (tabular data). The results revealed that EF outperformed models trained with single-modality data by 5.8%, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.779. XAI techniques helped to discover that features related to fear and unawareness are mainly associated with SH. Our study introduced an interpretable and multimodal methodology capable of predicting the occurrence of SH in adults with T1D in the next year. Our interpretable methodology contributes to predicting SH and identifying related key factors, thus preventing SH complications and improving patient's quality of life.221,7497,5Q1Q1SCIE11,
