Exploring the Impact of Digital Platforms on Teaching Practices: Insights into Competence Development and Openness to Active Methodologies
This research examines the impact of digital transformation on teaching practices and evaluates educators’ training requirements within the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu), focusing specifically on its implementation in the Canary Islands’ educational system. Through a quantitative study involving 546 teachers from primary and secondary institutions during the 2023/2024 academic year (confidence level: 95%, margin of error: 4.15%), we analyzed the relationship between digital competence development and educational innovation. Results indicate significant gaps in four key areas: digital content creation, innovative teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, and feedback mechanisms. The findings reveal a direct correlation between insufficient educational funding and limited professional development opportunities in digital competencies. This study identifies critical areas requiring immediate attention, including increased budgetary allocation for technological infrastructure, systematic professional development programs aligned with DigCompEdu standards, and the restructuring of current innovation approaches in educational institutions. This research contributes to the understanding of how educational systems can effectively adapt to digital transformation while highlighting the crucial role of both financial investment and structured training programs in fostering successful educational innovation, ultimately emphasizing that adapting education systems to digital realities is essential for ensuring future success in an increasingly digitalized educational landscape.0,788Q19,
Thriving Through Motivational Intelligence: An Intervention Programme Based on Life Capital, Mindset and Vision
This article reports on the findings of a research study which has approached language learning motivation (LLM) following Ushioda's (2009) person-in-context relational view of L2 motivation, Consoli's life capital (2021, 2022), Dweck's mindset (2017) and Dörnyei's vision system (2009). Our study provides insights into how LLM research is key to bolstering broader societal transformations and positive social impacts through a two-day intervention programme during which undergraduate L2 learners of English were introduced to the concepts of life capital, mindset, and vision through a series of motivational activities. The qualitative analyses of the data, divided into three steps, pre-, during, and post-intervention programme, allowed us to track the student's motivation and to highlight the critical role of such motivational courses. As a result, the authors introduce the notion of motivational intelligence, defined as a set of motivational skills which enable individuals to self-regulate their life-long growth process considering the potential of their life capital, and which, building on Sternberg's (2022) attitudes of intelligence, may act as catalysts that help individuals to refine their attitudes toward language learning and effectively deploy their intelligence for personal and societal advancement.261,8883,0Q1Q1SSCI11,0ERIH PLU

La ecografía se ha consolidado como una herramienta esencial en la práctica clínica diaria ya que aumenta la eficiencia diagnóstica y reduce la incertidumbre. Su desarrollo ha permitido avances significativos en la atención urgente al proporcionar información en tiempo real que facilita la toma de decisiones en situaciones críticas.
En los últimos años, la tecnología ha evolucionado significativamente, facilitando la aparición de dispositivos más compactos y accesibles que optimizan la portabilidad sin comprometer la calidad de imagen. Este avance ha permitido incorporar la ecografía en la práctica diaria de las consultas médicas con mayor facilidad, mejorando la capacidad de diagnóstico y la seguridad en la atención al paciente.
En las últimas Jornadas de Urgencias y Ecografía de la semFYC, celebradas los días 6, 7 y 8 de febrero en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, se abordó el impacto de la ecografía en la atención urgente a la población dentro de la medicina de familia. Se discutió su papel en la optimización del diagnóstico y tratamiento en situaciones de urgencia, así como la necesidad de seguir impulsando su formación y accesibilidad en todos los niveles asistenciales.64

Integrating visitor reviews and nature-based solutions to explore geoconservation on urban beaches with erosive trends. Case Study of Martianez Beach (Tenerife, Canary Islands)
Coastal urban development significantly impacts natural processes, causing ecosystem loss, erosion and flooding. For this reason there is an increasing need for studies that integrate solutions based on the nature of agreement and social perception, especially that of the users of the environment. The aims of the present work are to understand the historical evolution of the beach, analyze its current conditions, and offer applicable management proposals to balance tourism demands with geoconservation principles for sustainable coastal management. In this sense the Martianez beach in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) exemplifies these challenges, as the beach has faced continuous transformations over several decades due to urbanization and management interventions. The methodology of this research included granulometric analyses of sediment collected between 2023 and 2024, a review of historical sources, aerial photographs and orthophotos, a wave dynamics study, and use of a digital shoreline analysis system. Additionally, visitors' reviews on Google Maps were analyzed. The historical evolution of Martianez beach revealed significant transformations over time. Sedimentological patterns are not homogeneous on the beach, with significant differences detected that could be related to beach transformations or beach regeneration. The digital shoreline analysis system (DSAS) showed significant variability in shoreline changes. High shoreline change envelope (SCE) values (10.34 m to 32.41 m) indicate regions of substantial erosion or accretion. Negative net shoreline movement (NSM) values (-23.73 m to-5.75 m) reflect a general trend of shoreline retreat. The range of end point rate (EPR) values (-18.45 m to-0.64 m per year) shows that the southern sector is experiencing more rapid erosion than the northern sector. Based on visitors' reviews, it was found that while the beach offers a scenic and natural landscape and convenient amenities, positive aspects such as its black sand and excellent surfing conditions are counterbalanced by significant drawbacks highlighted in negative reviews. Concerns regarding safety due to rocky outcrops, strong currents, and inadequate rental amenities detract from the overall appeal of the beach. Kinematic response of flexible suction caissons for offshore wind turbines to vertically incident shear waves
This paper presents the translational and rotational kinematic interaction factors of flexible suction caissons considering structural and soil properties relevant to the seismic analysis of offshore wind turbines. Kinematic stresses developed along the foundation skirt are also presented and analyzed. The parametric analysis performed considers four height-to-diameter ratios between 0.5 and 2, three skirt thickness-to-diameter ratios between 0.5% and 2.0%, and four different relevant skirt-soil stiffness ratios for sand soils. The foundations are as- summed to be founded in homogenous and non-homogeneous soils, and they are considered to be subjected to vertically-incident shear waves. The kinematic response of the foundations is computed through an advanced boundary element - finite element coupled numerical model. It is found that the kinematic interaction factors are fundamentally independent of the skirt-soil stiffness ratio. It is also found that the general pattern of the kinematic interaction factors is analogous to that of piles, and that significant filtering of the seismic input motions can be observed. Results are presented in ready-to-use dimensionless plots. Regarding kinematic stresses, shell-like or beam-like behaviour is observed depending on height-to-diameter ratio of the skirt.191191,2144,6Q1Q1SCIE11,
