Turning kinematics of the scyphomedusa Aurelia aurita
Scyphomedusae are widespread in the oceans and their swimming has provided valuable insights into the hydrodynamics of animal propulsion. Most of this research has focused on symmetrical, linear swimming. However, in nature, medusae typically swim circuitous, nonlinear paths involving frequent turns. Here we describe swimming turns by the scyphomedusa Aurelia aurita during which asymmetric bell margin motions produce rotation around a linearly translating body center. These jellyfish ‘skid’ through turns and the degree of asynchrony between opposite bell margins is an approximate predictor of turn magnitude during a pulsation cycle. The underlying neuromechanical organization of bell contraction contributes substantially to asynchronous bell motions and inserts a stochastic rotational component into the directionality of scyphomedusan swimming. These mechanics are important for natural populations because asynchronous bell contraction patterns are common in situ and result in frequent turns by naturally swimming medusae
Noether Symmetry Analysis of the Klein–Gordon and Wave Equations in Bianchi I Spacetime
We investigate the Noether symmetries of the Klein–Gordon Lagrangian for Bianchi I spacetime. This is accomplished using a set of new Noether symmetry relations for the Klein–Gordon Lagrangian of Bianchi I spacetime, which reduces to the wave equation in a special case. A detailed Noether symmetry analysis of the Klein–Gordon and the wave equations for Bianchi I spacetime is presented, and the corresponding conservation laws are derived

Teaching Building Information Modeling Courses in Construction Programs
Building information modeling has been widely adopted in the construction industry in the last decade. To better prepare students for the construction industry\u27s needs nationwide, many construction programs either have a BIM course in the curriculum or integrate BIM topics in various courses. Construction-related BIM topics include information modeling, design coordination, clash detection, process virtualization, virtual design and construction, and various integration with technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, drones, and laser scanners. Researchers have advanced BIM studies in recent years. However, the implementation of BIM courses still varies widely in construction management programs. These courses may be taught at different levels, and the content varies significantly among instructors. The authors investigated BIM course learning objectives, outcomes, and contents at various universities and concluded common topics that are essential in the course. Findings suggest that BIM can be taught in four approaches to help construction students understand the various applications of BIM in different project phases, including design, construction, and operation and maintenance. Furthermore, the findings provide valuable insights for educators to improve BIM courses to meet the needs of the construction industry. This paper emphasizes the importance of BIM education and provides recommendations for teaching BIM courses in construction management programs
