Trends of significant wave height in the Mediterranean Sea

    No full text
The dataset includes information on the trends of significant wave heights (Hs) over the whole Mediterranean Sea. The research analysed 30 years of Hs numerical hindcast carried out by the University of Genoa to identify the trends of annual maxima Hs, 98th percentile Hs and annual mean of Hs. The research method involves the use of an estimator of the linear slope of the trend (b) and an index obtained by the Mann-Kendall test (pMK). However, unlike what usually is done in the traditional use of this test, no value of pMK is rejected based on an arbitrary threshold. The research showed that there is a strong anti correlation between b and pMK, i.e. not only low values of pMK are correlated with high b, but also higher values of pMK are well correlated with low b (weaker trends). This results give confidence in using both parameters together. The results in the datasets are: latitude and longitude of the computation point, the associated trend slope value (b), and value of pMK
