Movement Data of the Random Positioning Machine for Different Motion Modes

    No full text
The Random Positioning Machine (RPM 2.0, Airbus Netherlands B.V., Leiden, the Netherlands) gives the option to record the dimensionless position of its experimental platform for every approx. 1.1 s in a text file (referred to as movement data). Movement data has been recorded for approx. 24 h for 5 different motion modes: 0 g; 0.4 g; Clinostat 80 deg/sec; Clinostat 100 deg/sec; Clinostat 120 deg/sec. Data has been generated at the University of Adelaide (Volker Hessel Research Group, School of Chemical Engineering & Andy Thomas Centre for Space Resources) and collaboratively analysed as per the jointly-awarded PhD program with the University of Nottingham

VR piece in collaboration with OpenEndedGroup

Point Line Piano is an interactive VR project merging drawing and music, creating a vibrant, multisensory environment. Users draw points and lines in VR, activating musical notes and creating complex visuals. The project aims to stimulate multi-sensory creativity and foster a connection with abstraction. It transforms creativity by integrating composing, performing, and viewing into one experience, allowing everyone to be a composer, performer, and viewer. It supports inclusive music-making, welcoming diverse participants, and plans to become more accessible in the future

Reporting of concomitant and rescue topical therapies in atopic dermatitis randomised controlled trials evaluating a systemic treatment: a scoping review

    No full text
The landscape of atopic dermatitis (AD) treatment has witnessed an exponential increase in randomised controlled trials (RCTs) exploring systemic medications. These trials often incorporate topical therapies either as permitted concomitant treatments or as rescue medications. Variable use of these topicals post-randomisation introduces potential bias as they may nullify or exaggerate treatment responses differentially. The objective was to determine the proportion of RCTs that clearly report the allowance or prohibition of concomitant and rescue topical treatments. Secondary outcomes involved examining the reporting of specific parameters for these topicals. We included AD systemic medication RCTs included in the living systematic review of Drucker et al (updated in March 2023). Inclusion criteria were published RCTs evaluating systemic immunomodulatory treatments in eczema. Only anti-inflammatory topical therapies were included as concomitant or rescue topical therapies in this review, emollients were not considered

    Mycorrhizia

    No full text
Exercices d’étrangeté III Mycorrhizia is an explorative work at the convergence of music, technology, and visual art. Its central feature is a digitally generated score projected onto the floor between musicians, utilising a cloth patterned with a custom mycelium-dye procedure as the projection surface. This visual backdrop symbolises interconnectedness, with musicians wearing vests made from the same cloth. The score’s projection metaphorically simulates the exchange of bio-chemical information in mycelial networks using icons derived from mycelium images. These icons move around the space, triggering specific musical gestures and shaping the overall musical form, offering a new approach to ensemble composition where communication and coordination among musicians evolve dynamically. In addition to the main movements, the work incorporates interlude movements featuring large-scale cellular automata simulations of mycelial growth, influencing musicians’ improvisation through comprovisation scores. This unpredictability adds spontaneity to the performance, enhancing the immersive experience for both performers and audiences. The potential for the score to become interactive introduces further possibilities, with the mycelial network responding to musical behaviors as if they were external influences, offering avenues for novel forms of interconnected musical growth

BRIGhTMIND baseline analysis: functional connectivity correlates of cognitive impairment in treatment-resistant major depression

BRIGhTMIND was a randomised controlled trial comparing two types of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for treatment-resistant depression: standard repetitive TMS directed to the “F3” site (F3-rTMS) and connectivity-guided intermittent theta-burst stimulation (cgiTBS). In the trial, participants underwent clinical assessment, at which measures including the HDRS-17 observer-rated and PHQ-9 self-rated measures of depression, and the THINC-it battery of cognitive tests were obtained. They then had baseline brain imaging, which included 3-Tesla T1-weighted structural MRI and resting-state functional MRI. Within two weeks, they were randomised and began one of the two types of treatment, which lasted 20 sessions spanning across 4-6 weeks. The current protocol describes use of the baseline data from BRIGhTMIND to test specific hypotheses on the relationships between cognitive difficulties in MDD (measured with THINC-it) and brain activity (measured with resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging, rsfMRI). It examines cognition and brain connectivity measured at baseline (prior to beginning TMS treatment). The findings of these analyses will guide future hypotheses around relationships between change in cognition and change in brain connectivity. 127 drilling cycles from a prototype drilling end-effector (based on a Fanuc 0i-F CNC) on an industrial robot (Fanuc M800-iA). These were made for the purpose of training an anomaly detection algorithm for aerospace drilling. 109 normal cycles. 18 induced anomalies including tool breakage, incorrect cutting parameters, and workpiece defects. The normal condition uses a 4.8mm drill bit at 2000rpm and 150mmpm to drill a hole in 6mm thickness aluminium (Al 6082

Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus AZ0019 requires nitrogen fixing capabilities for optimal plant growth promotion

    No full text
The nitrogen fixing diazotroph Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus is a plant growth promoting bacterium able to colonise a wide range of host plants and is marketed commercially as a biofertiliser. The aims of this study were to investigate if biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) competency affects the growth promotion of inoculated tomato plants and to describe the colonisation mechanism of this bacterium in dicot systems
