    Get PDF
Decision making is a significant and rational process in any business organization that deploys so many resources to work on selecting the optimal alternative and build a heuristic framework. In the last decade, Tire sector in Egypt witnessed many changes due to market dynamics and economic challenges, that require being adaptive in the decision-making process. The purpose of this study first is to define the different decision-making styles adopted by the decision makers in our case. The population of the study focuses on decision makers of a local family business. Secondly, is to measure the correlation between the dominant decision-making styles and the age groups, Job stress and Leadership styles. The selected model is based on Simon's concept of "bounded rationality" which has provided the conceptual foundation for much behavioral decision research, (Einhorn & Hogarth, 1981). Using certain tools such as GDMS, Job stress and Multi-factor Leadership Questionnaires. Study applied quantitative online survey then analyzed using scale reliability, test-re-test reliability, Cronbach’s alpha, descriptive, chi-square, and normality tests using SPSS. Results revealed that Rational-dependent, and intuitive decision-making styles are affected by different levels of perceived job stress also, the three leadership styles Transformational, Transactional, and Laissez-faire

    Get PDF
The research objective is to examine the challenges faced by newspapers in Kosovo from 1999 to 2020. By using qualitative methods, the study aims to identify the factors that have led to the discontinuation of daily printed newspapers in Kosovo. The main drivers of this trend have been identified as the speed at which news can reach readers through electronic media, as well as the financial burden of unsold newspapers on the editorial offices, rather than on distribution networks. The findings of the study indicate that, as of March 2020, Kosovo has been left without daily newspapers due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as the government implemented measures that resulted in the temporary closure of business that newspapers. This has led to the accelerated closure of four daily print newspapers in Kosovo, which now only continue to publish in an electronic format. The pressure caused by these circumstances ultimately led to the discontinuation of printing and the shift to electronic version, which have a much lower financial cost

VIX to S&P 500 Correlation Over the Weekend: Are Market Makers Using S&P 500 Weekend Returns to Price VIX on Monday Morning?

    Get PDF
This paper studied the correlation between the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) weekend returns and the VIX changes. Two distinct patterns are found: (1) VIX is dropping intraday and rising overnight; (2) a negative SPY weekend return correlates with VIX weekend change. We found the negative correlation is statistically significant (P=0.000). This proves that option market makers are using SPY Friday overnight returns to adjust the implied volatility the next morning. This may lead to a profitable options model that sells high IV options closing on Friday and buys them back next Monday, especially before the earnings announcement

    Get PDF
We implement traditional machine learning and deep learning methods for global tweets from 2017-2022 to build a high-frequency measure of the public’s sentiment index on inflation and analyze its correlation with other online data sources such as google trend and market-oriented inflation index. We use manually labeled trigrams to test the prediction performance of several machine learning models (logistic regression, random forest etc.) and choose Bert model for final demonstration. Then, we sum daily tweets’ sentiment scores gained from Bert model to obtain the predicted inflation sentiment index, and we further analyze the regional and pre/post covid patterns of these inflation indexes. Lastly, we take other empirical inflation-related data as references and prove that twitter-based inflation sentiment analysis method has an outstanding capability to predict inflation. The results suggest that Twitter combined with deep learning methods can be a novel and timely method to utilize existing abundant data sources on inflation expectations and provide daily indicators of consumers’ perception on inflation

    Get PDF
Social Networking Services (SNS) exert a substantial influence in the digital realm. For marketers and entrepreneurs, comprehending the nuances of potential consumer interaction with SNS is pivotal to craft optimal communication strategies. Consequently, deciphering the determinants that either encourage or hinder individual SNS usage behaviors becomes imperative, as it fosters deeper insights into users' continuance intentions and facilitates the building of robust relationships. Drawing upon the Media System Dependency (MSD) theory, this research addresses two main questions: 1) How do individuals' MSD relations, encompassing Understanding Dependency (UD), Orientation Dependency (OD), and Play Dependency (PD), satisfaction (ST) within the SNS context? 2) Does satisfaction subsequently enhance their continuance intention (CI) towards the SNS? To address these queries, we scrutinized data amassed from 393 online Weibo users in China. Participants, all of whom possessed prior Weibo experience, were invited to partake in a comprehensive survey. The proposed hypotheses were rigorously examined using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The analysis revealed that the three delineated MSD relations significantly bolstered participants' ST, which in turn robustly influenced their CI. This study's findings shed invaluable light on the nexus between MSD relations and SNS engagement, offering meaningful implications for both academics and SNS practitioners. Future research endeavors are encouraged to expand upon these insights and further fortify our understanding of the topic

Hedging Interest Rate Options with Reinforcement Learning: an investigation of a heavy-tailed distribution

    Get PDF
Purpose: The study intends to model an interest rate index option using a heavy-tailed distribution. The goal is to calculate the interest rate path-dependent option prices that are consistent with market data and to develop a reinforcement learning strategy to discretely hedge the position considering transaction costs. Methodology: This paper presents a mathematical framework to calculate the price of interest rate path-dependent options. The research adapted a Fourier cosine series formula to employ the characteristic function of the present value of the forward index, which is modeled as a variance-gamma process and uses deep Q-learning to hedge such options. Findings: There is market evidence that the implied volatility curve is not flat. The study demonstrated that the variance-gamma process generates an increasing volatility smile, which is consistent with market observations. Additionally, hedging results show that the path-dependent options generated from the variance-gamma process can be efficiently hedged with advanced Q-learning techniques. Research limitations/implications: The study comprised only the variance-gamma process. Other probability distributions, such as the Normal Inverse Gaussian model, should be investigated. Practical implications: This study reveals which type of probability distribution should be present in a pricing engine to be consistent with implied volatilities. The approach provided here can assist managers in evaluating and comprehending market pricing behavior as well as achieving discrete hedging with costs. Originality: The paper addressed the merging of a fast pricing method for the interest rate options with a heavy-tailed distribution and the discrete interest rate derivatives hedging with reinforcement learning

    Get PDF
Studying the past interactions between Germany and Albania in the field of media is an important topic, as it is crucial for understanding the current challenges and finding solutions to promote cooperation and communication between two countries in the future. The purpose of the research is to compare the historical development of the mass media in Germany and Albania, as well as to consider the models of interaction between these countries in the field of media. During the research, the following methods of theoretical knowledge were used: analysis, comparison, synthesis, and generalization. As a result of the study, several conclusions were drawn, in particular, regarding the role and position of the mass media in Germany and Albania in different historical periods. Thus, it was found that the development of mass media began in the 19th century, under the influence of the industrial revolution. Albanian media during this period was not as independent as German media, because Albania was part of the Ottoman Empire. In the 20th century, interaction and assimilation of German and Albanian mass media began to take place, in particular, due to the activities of the communist regime and the process of liberalisation. In today’s world, the Albanian mass media have several problems, as they are dependent on private entrepreneurs and are also quite centralised. The study of the media interactions of Germany and Albania is valuable for historians and political scientists who seek to increase knowledge of their history, facilitate communication and cooperation between the two media systems. It is especially valid in identifying the model or standard towards which the Albanian media system should develop in its path towards self-regulation
