    Get PDF
This article presents and discusses the results of a nationwide survey conducted in Austria among young professionals (n = 742), focusing on their self-assessment of the importance of mentoring support, mentoring style, and mentoring collaboration during the induction phase. The quantitative analysis includes frequency distributions and p-values based on the Mann–Whitney U test, with a particular focus on gender differences. The data is based on feedback from teachers (n = 742) in their first year of service. Notably, male career starters report particularly high satisfaction with mentoring support. They also place greater value on informal discussions and feel that their actions are more closely monitored compared to their female counterparts. However, in many aspects of mentoring style and collaboration, no statistically significant gender differences were found

How Unofficial Media Use Shapes Perceptions of Political Transparency: The Mediating Effect of Subjective Well-Being and the Moderating Role of Official Media Use Among Chinese Youth

    Get PDF
This study examines the impact of unofficial media use on perceived government transparency in Chinese youth, focusing on the mediating role of subjective well-being and the moderating influence of official media use. Based on a cross-sectional survey of 405 participants aged 18-35 in Guangzhou, China, the results indicated that frequent use of unofficial media significantly reduced perceptions of political transparency, consistent with the media depression theory. In addition, subjective well-being played a critical mediating role in this relationship, while official media use mitigated the negative impact of unofficial media use. These results provide valuable insights into the role of the media in the political context and inform strategies for enhancing government transparency

A Grounded Theory Study of Audience Emotional Experience in Chinese Web-based Craftsmanship Documentaries

    Get PDF
Amid globalization and modernization, maintaining national identity and folk culture has become a pressing issue. While web-based craftsmanship documentaries are rapidly emerging in the digital media environment, their role in shaping cultural identity remains underexplored. Using a procedural grounded theory approach, this study investigates nine viewers through semi-structured interviews, adopting theoretical sampling and constant comparison. Findings reveal five main emotional responses—empathy, enjoyment, pride, concern, and dissatisfaction—forming a progressive mechanism of emotion–cognition and reflection–cultural identity. These emotions not only reflect viewers’ complex perceptions of craftsmen and their skills but also resonate with personal memories and cultural experiences, fostering re-identification with tradition and reconstruction of cultural belonging. The study highlights documentaries as cultural learning devices that trigger emotions and activate memory to promote cultural identity reconstruction, enriching debates on media, culture, and identity. This framework extends cinematic emotion research by integrating cultural identity into the process of emotional generation and cognitive processing, offering a renewed perspective on digital documentary audiences

The Role of Digital Literacy in Mitigating the Effects of Social Media Usage on Academic Performance: A Study of TikTok Users in Higher Education Institutions in China

    Get PDF
Digital literacy improvement is considered supportive to optimize the use of social media platforms in a positive way. The influence of platforms such as TikTok is considered significant for influencing the academic performance level of a student pursuing his/her higher education. However, lack of proper knowledge about digital literacy improvement is still affecting the academic performance of the users in China. Relevant questions and objectives are developed to reach the purpose of the research study. The integration of the “Uses and Gratification Theory” further helps in exploring the interrelationship between the variables selected in the study that is followed by formation of the hypotheses. A detailed analysis of existing literature has facilitated the identification of the gap that shows lack of research on potential effects of TikTok on academic outcomes. Primary data collection has been used in this study for conducting the survey process among 410 students from the institutions of China. The quantitative data analysis has been used for examining the collected information through IBM SPSS. The results highlight that all the variables selected for the research have a significant impact on the Academic Performance of the students in higher education institutions in China apart from frequency of usage. Its direct impact on Academic Performance has not been established by the findings from the analysis. The study helps in identifying the need for more extensive research or doing qualitative data based research for exploring more ideas about the factors associated with digital literacy improvement by practical strategies

The Impact of TikTok Social Media Influencers on Consumer Behavior: A Systematic Literature Review

    Get PDF
Research on TikTok social media influencers and consumer behavior has expanded rapidly in recent years. However, the existing literature remains fragmented, regionally concentrated, and theoretically inconsistent. Given TikTok’s growing influence in shaping consumer decision-making, this study conducts a systematic literature review to critically synthesize current knowledge and address gaps in research topics, theoretical models, key variables, and conceptual frameworks. Guided by the PRISMA methodology, this review analyzes 32 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2019 and March 2025. Using the Antecedents–Decisions–Outcomes (ADO) framework, the study develops a structured model illustrating how influencer characteristics affect consumer decisions and behavioral outcomes on TikTok.The findings reveal a diverse range of antecedents—including credibility, emotional appeal, platform engagement, and parasocial relationships—that influence decision-related variables such as attitude, trust, and impulsivity. These decisions subsequently lead to outcomes such as purchase intention, actual purchases, impulsive buying, travel intentions, and long-term engagement or brand loyalty. While established theories such as the Source Credibility Model and the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) are widely employed, newer frameworks are emerging to better suit TikTok’s dynamic and participatory environment. The proposed model offers strategic insights for marketers and brands aiming to improve campaign effectiveness, strengthen consumer trust, and drive meaningful engagement through TikTok influencer marketing

Mongolian Journalism Education: Changes, Challenges and Opportunities

    Get PDF
This study investigates the decline in enrollment in journalism education programs in Mongolia and explores the factors shaping students’ professional perceptions and career expectations. Drawing on statistical data and survey responses collected from journalism students in 2020 and 2023, the study identifies key reasons for declining interest in the field, including the profession’s diminishing public image, low salaries, unfavorable working conditions, and growing societal pressure and harassment. The findings further reveal that although many students initially chose journalism based on personal interest, their perceptions often shifted during their studies, leading nearly half to consider alternative career paths. A regression analysis indicates that academic level, evaluation of the profession, and societal perception significantly influence students’ likelihood of working as journalists. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for structural reforms in journalism education and the media sector, including improved ethical standards, stronger industry academia collaboration, and labor protections to sustain journalism as a viable and respected profession in Mongolia

Political Economy of Climate-Resilient Agriculture Policy Failures in Sub-Saharan Africa: Unpacking the Governance Gap

    Get PDF
Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) faces existential threats from climate change, with its agriculture sector, the backbone of most economies and livelihoods, disproportionately vulnerable. Despite widespread recognition of the need for climate-resilient agriculture (CRA) policies and numerous initiatives, implementation failures remain pervasive. This paper argues that these failures are fundamentally rooted in the complex political economy of the region. Utilising a political economy framework, it analyses how power dynamics, institutional weaknesses, competing interests, rent-seeking, colonial legacies, and donor influence systematically undermine the formulation and execution of effective CRA policies. The analysis highlights the misalignment between formal policy objectives and the incentives and capacities of key actors, including political elites, bureaucracies, smallholders, traditional authorities, and international donors. The findings illustrate common pitfalls. The paper concludes that addressing CRA policy failures requires confronting these deep-seated political economy constraints through context-specific governance reforms, enhanced accountability mechanisms, and more politically informed donor engagement

STEM-Oriented Foreign Language Teaching: An Experimental Study of Engineering Students in Turkmenistan

    Get PDF
The aim of the research is to analyse the role of the STEM approach in the formation of students’ foreign language competence and determine its impact on the development of professionally oriented language skills and motivation. The methodology is based on a quasi-experimental design using mixed data collection methods (testing, questionnaires, observation). The participants were 64 business informatic students, divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental programme combined English language learning with STEM components, including project tasks, digital tools, authentic materials, and elements of research. Statistical analysis of the results allowed for an objective assessment of the approach effectiveness and displayed the influence of STEM integration on learning outcomes. The main results showed that students in the experimental group demonstrated a significant increase in lexical competence, communication skills and internal motivation. A positive correlation was found between the increase in language knowledge and motivation, which indicated the interconnection between cognitive and affective factors in learning. The conclusions emphasised that the STEM approach was an effective means of improving the quality of English language teaching for special purpose, promoting the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge, the development of critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, and cultivating key competencies for the 21st century in order to ensure modernisation of foreign language teaching in higher education

The Application of Digital Technology Solutions and Their Impact on Learning Effectiveness: A Pedagogical Challenge

    Get PDF
The integration of digital technologies in education is widely recognized as a pedagogical necessity, yet teachers’ readiness and perceptions remain critical in shaping their effective use. This research paper aims to understand teachers’ perceptions of learning technology and the challenges they encounter in applying it to the classroom. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted with 96 teachers in Kosovo, using adapted instruments from Horn et al. (1998) and Edison and Geissler (2003). Data were collected through a six-item online questionnaire measured on a four-point Likert scale and analyzed using independent-samples t-tests, ANOVA, and descriptive statistics. The findings reveal that gender does not significantly influence teachers’ comfort with learning new technologies or their satisfaction with technological skills. However, age-related differences were evident: teachers aged 41–49 reported the highest competence and motivation, whereas those aged 55 and above demonstrated lower confidence and readiness. Furthermore, teachers with master’s degrees expressed greater confidence in integrating digital tools compared to those with only bachelor’s qualifications. These results underscore the importance of differentiated professional development, particularly targeted at older teachers, to build confidence and reduce technology-related anxiety. By highlighting the intersections of age, education, and technological readiness, the study contributes to the understanding of how contextual factors influence digital transformation in education
