Healthy Housing 2016: Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Energy and Environment of Residential Buildings, 20-24 November, 2016
Get PDFThis conference series was initiated in Sendai, Japan in 2000 and has played a significant role in the development of Energy and Environment of Residential Buildings. It is well attended by researchers and academics from Asia, Europe and North America.
In 2016 the conference moves to Brisbane, Australia, hosted by Queensland University of Technology and has adopted the overarching theme of Healthy Housing. The conference offers an exciting program that will not only facilitate research exchange between academics, but will supports and facilitatse dialogue with industry (housing providers) and government (housing regulators).
These procedings collect the papers for the 2016 conference covering the topics:
– Sustainable design and construction
– Indoor environment
– Neighbourhood planning
– Modelling, simulation and post-occupancy evaluation
– Building information and management

Background to the Digital Yarning (2016) project
Get PDFDigital Yarning created in 20216 was a digital collection and program co-created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australian students at Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC), Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC).
Students share identity through digital vision, sound, and creative genres, collaborating with Dr Bridgette McKelvey, BYETC teachers, Indigenous Australian Elders, artists and guest faciltators. Their collective narrative was published at BYETC, BYDC, QUT and the Indigenous Knowledge Centre, kuril dhagun, State Library of Queensland.
Digital Yarning was funded by BYETC and a Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Engagement and Innovation Grant, coordinated by Prof Kerry Mallan. The program provided placement opportunities for QUT students as part of the Vacation Research Experience Scheme (VRES). Aims included capacity-building, improving aspiration, understanding, access and partnership in education within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
