Research showcase on mental health in aged care (Webinar Series on Ageing)
This talk explores three groundbreaking research studies on psychological and social programs for improving mental health and wellbeing of older adults. One study is focussed on a novel program for introducing psychological treatment to older adults on in-home care packages. Another study examines the impact of befriending on reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms in residential aged care. A third study examines the effect of cognitive behaviour therapy on reducing depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms and suicidal ideation in residential aged care
Personality Disorders in Older Adults (Webinar Series on Ageing)
This webinar considers common personality disorder presentations across acute, community and residential settings for older adults. There are complexities in managing older adults with personality disorders and their carer networks, including families, friends and staff. This webinar provides an opportunity to consider case studies and assessment considerations which include assessing risk, chronic behaviours and carer burden/burnout. The webinar also explores short, medium and longer term treatment strategies for older adults with personality disorders
