Roca Vecchia: gli eccezionali depositi ceramici del Saggio IV come testimonianza di pratiche cerimoniali nel corso della tarda età del Ferro
Get PDFEnDespite the small amount of archaeological documentation referable to the Iron Age - which is mainly compromised by the continuous rearrangements that affected the Roca Vecchia site in the classical, hellenistic and medieval periods - the discovery of numerous repositories of local ceramic products as well as Corinthian-Kerkirean pottery (from 8th century BC), attests the reiteration of some particular collective activities, most likely related to worship practices. These ones involved the use of fire in concurrence with convivial activities, libations and ritual banquets, which ended with the burial of the crockery used during the ceremony. The entire area of the protohistoric settlement indeed is characterized by the presence of wells, holes or slight basins in the ground used for the deposition of pottery of different classes, often connected with meal remains.ItNonostante l'esigua documentazione archeologica riferibile all'età del Ferro - compromessa principalmente dai continui rimaneggiamenti che interessarono il sito di Roca Vecchia in età classica, ellenistica e medievale - il rinvenimento di numerosi depositi di prodotti ceramici locali e di ceramica corinzio-corcirese (dall'VIII secolo a.C.), attesta la reiterazione di alcune particolari attività collettive, verosimilmente legate a pratiche cultuali. Queste prevedevano l'uso del fuoco in concomitanza con attività conviviali, libagioni e banchetti rituali, che si concludevano con l'inumazione del vasellame utilizzato durante la cerimonia. L'intera area dell'insediamento protostorico è infatti caratterizzata dalla presenza di pozzi, buche o piccole conche nel terreno utilizzate per la deposizione di ceramica di classi diverse, spesso collegata a resti di pasto
