A case study of Aamina Changwe in counselling and therapy
This article presents a comprehensive case study of Amina Changwe, a 27-year-old woman facing significant psychological challenges stemming from her tragic childhood experiences, including the loss of her parents and potential abuse. The study employs a counseling framework to explore Amina's complex emotional landscape, focusing on issues of isolation, low self-esteem, and the impact of societal perceptions on her self-worth. Through a detailed examination of the counselor-client relationship, including concepts of transference and counter-transference, the article identifies the root causes of Amina's struggles. It also discusses therapeutic interventions and the importance of specialized counseling to facilitate Amina's healing process. Ultimately, the article emphasizes the significance of empathy, authenticity, and a tailored therapeutic approach in addressing the multifaceted issues faced by individuals in distress
Beyond human labelling: an automatic topic identification framework for big web data
Nowadays, the global amount of written texts grows faster and faster. Since 2011 the number of posts per minute on Facebook increased from 650K to 3M. These unstructured data represent the source of an enormous amount of information that should be extracted by using automatic engines. This can be mainly accomplished by means of Natural Language Processing (NLP), which is a field of Artificial Intelligence devoted to analyzing and understanding human language as it is spoken and written. One common task of NLP is topic identification, related to the recognition of a text's topic(s). Two popular methods for modeling latent topics are latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) and correlated topic model (CTM). Both of them assume that each word composing a document is associated with a latent topic, but they differ in the prior distribution assigned to topics, thus showing different pros and cons.In this work, LDA and CTM are tested and compared in a big data context by analyzing a large set of short documents automatically downloaded from the web by means of a modern crawler. In addition, under the assumption that each document is associated with a single topic, two new methods for the automatic classification of documents according to their real topic are proposed and tested relying on LDA and CTM as (latent) topic model engines. Finally, under the more realistic hypothesis of multiple topics within a document, the two new methods together with some combinations of the two are tested as multi-class classification tools
Notai letterati nel Mezzogiorno tardo-medievale e nella prima età umanistica. Appunti da un’indagine in corso
The perusal of some recent repertories and databases, relative to the entire span of the Middle Ages, leaves little room for imagination: while in Northern and Central Italy, one comes across a surprising number of authors of Latin works of the most varied genres (historiography, poetry, philosophy, treatises), professionally qualified as notaries, in our Mezzogiorno, the cases so far found of notaries who are also writers of works in Latin - more or less ambitious from a literary point of view - are very few indeed. Nicola de Martoni and Angelo Crassullo are particularly significant among them
El papel de la literatura de viajes en español en la promoción de la competencia comunicativa intercultural en el aula ELE: El caso de Umbría
This study explores the intersection of general premises, approaches in Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE), and travel literature in Umbria, proposing didactic strategies for educational contexts. It emphasizes the relevance of travel literature as a multidisciplinary tool that enriches the understanding of geographical, historical, and cultural narratives. By analyzing different travel travelogues, the article investigates how these texts can be exploited as valuable resources not only for teaching geography but a foreign language too, providing insights into environmental changes and cultural interactions over time. The findings suggest that integrating travel literature to promote language acquisition not only enhances learners’ linguistic skills but also fosters their intercultural competence. Finally, the study advocates for a didactic framework that exploits travel narratives to develop engaging and meaningful learning experiences in ELE classrooms
Il latino della storia, la storia del latino
EnThe birth of literature creates a divergence between the sermo cotidianus (which preserves the richness and freedom of a linguistic diasystem open to Italic languages, as well as Greek and Etruscan) and the new literary language that must establish selective rules, initially modeled on Latinitas and then, according to an even stricter criterion, on Urbanitas, the language proper to Rome and its noble élite.
