    Get PDF
EnIt is not easy to be able to somehow reconstruct the original characteristics of the Grecanic ethnic population due to the lack of adequate documentary sources preserved in the many possible archives. Only the fleeting testimonies found in the ancient parishes of Galatina, Copertino and Gallipoli were fundamental, concerning the formulas used in the celebration of birth certificates and those concerning marriage, present in the first book of Melpignano, drawn up before the dictates of the Council of Trent (1545-1563), and from this imposed on the entire Christian world. Through their comparison, the possible differences between the Greek and Latin ethnic groups emerged. In the extreme necessity on the part of the Catholic Church of having to fight the various heresies developed throughout Europe under the pressure of the millenarian instances born at the end of the fifteenth century, Salento Greece, where the language, habits and customs of Byzantine origin still resist, is forced to suffer the inexorable process of 'normalization' to the remaining Latin area. In a context of enormous tax burdens on each community, the fact of being 'Greek' priests and therefore adding the possibility of being married with children, thus taking advantage of ecclesiastical immunities, generates hatred and conflict in one's social context, as is witnessed in the decisions and decrees of the Royal Chamber of Sommaria, a court sitting in Naples, competent to resolve disputes arising locally.

I videogiochi come estensioni contemporanee delle teorie mediologiche di McLuhan = Video games as contemporary extensions of McLuhan's media theories

    No full text
This article explores the relationship between video games and Marshall McLuhan's mediologic theories. In particular, this study examines how video games can be seen as contemporary extensions of his ideas on media, technology, and society. Through an analysis of McLuhan's concepts, such as "hot" and "cool" media, the article argues that video games embody the principles of "cool" media, requiring active participation and engagement on the part of users. The article also discusses how video games reflect and shape cultural values, norms, and identities, and how they can be seen as a form of "global village" where players from different parts of the world interact and share experiences. The article concludes that video games offer a unique platform for social interaction, learning, and self-expression, and that they have the potential to transform the way we think about media, culture, and societ

Towards a Definition of Climate Migration

Within the present contribution, the origin and development of the debate on defining and estimating migrations driven by environmental and climatic causes will be traced. The analysis of this discourse allows an understanding of the perspective through which the figure of the climate migrant has been constructed. Simultaneously, by revisiting this debate, an examination is intended to explore how this type of human mobility urges a reconsideration of traditionally employed categories for describing and classifying migrations

Imagining the Future of Europe: Is Transnational Left Populism the Way Forward?

    Get PDF
The European Union is facing a 'poly-crisis'. As a result, reflections on the future of Europe have intensified (one example is the Conference on the Future of Europe). In discussing visions of Europe, scholars generally pit cosmopolitanism against communitarianism, or pro-Europeanism against Euro-scepticism. Visions of Europe's future are however more complex and irreducibly plural. The article examines the ideational landscape of the EU by, first, mapping a plurality of prominent, frequently used discourses on European integration. Second, we examine a tendency towards reproducing the status quo in dealing with the poly-crisis. Despite the rich ideational plurality, dominant forces in the EU tend not to be inclined to significantly reform the EU. The third part of the paper examines one exception, in the form of left transnational populism, which proposes a critical, but constructive, alternative understanding of integration. The analysis of this left populist composite, critical Europeanist discourse, focusses on the most developed, even if marginal, transnational left populist project, DiEM25. The article concludes by indicating both the relevance of the critical Europeanist discourse and the formidable, practical obstacles the project face

EnIn the light of a historiographical panorama in which the theme of administrative elections is still underdeveloped (especially for the Republican period), the contribution focuses on the analysis of administrative election results in the province of Brindisi from the first democratic elections for the renewal of the provincial council (1951) to the last convocation according to the law March 25, 1993 n. 81, which introduced the direct election of the president of the Province (2009). The objective is to read, in the relationship between the participatory dimension and the quantitative and geographical distribution of preferences, the processes of consensus building and the dynamics of entrenchment of political forces in a decision-making space, that of the provincial body, which was long considered strategic in the control of the territory
