EnThe paper focuses on a small sample of fitonyms in the Neapolitan dialect formed with the diminutive suffixes –ìllo and –élla: cetrulìllo, melìllo, sciurìllo, turzìllo; ammennulélla, cerzolélla, frunnélla, scarolélla; these phytonymic lexemes are documented in the textual and lexicographical sources of the Dizionario Etimologico e Storico del Napoletano (Etymological and Historical Dictionary of Neapolitan), which covers a period from the 14th to the 21st century. The first part of the article reflects on the productivity of the two diminutive suffixes in Neapolitan and other central-southern Italo-Romance dialects. The central part of the study focuses on the semantics of the diminutive phytonyms considered, which document a series of new meanings belonging to the botanical domain but also to other domains, not present in the respective bases

EnThe Author, a long-time collaborator of Fr. From Streets to Screens: Seriality and Political Communication in Iran's "Women, Life, Freedom" Movement

    Get PDF
The proposed research investigates the role of seriality in the digital political communication of Iranian protest movements, with particular focus on the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising. Building on scholarship on media seriality and political storytelling, the article examines how protesters employed recurring hashtags, episodic video updates, and viral formats across platforms such as Twitter/X, Instagram, and TikTok to produce an alternative narrative structure that opposed state-controlled discourse. The analysis conceptualises these practices as a form of "episodic dissent," where individual posts function as discrete narrative units while simultaneously contributing to a continuous storyline of resistance. The paper will argue that seriality served three principal functions: first, it established temporal continuity, allowing dispersed acts of protest to be framed as unfolding episodes within a larger struggle; second, it fostered participatory engagement by inviting users to reproduce and adapt recurring formats; and third, it generated a cumulative archive that strengthened transnational solidarity and countered the erasure produced by censorship. By situating Iranian digital activism within the logic of serial communication, the article contributes to broader debates on the relationship between media form and political practice, demonstrating how seriality operates as both a narrative strategy and a mode of collective resistance under authoritarian conditions

The Return of Islamic Rhetoric: Hamas and Conflict Framing in the Gaza War 2023-2024

The speeches of Abū 'Ubayda, the spokesperson for Hamas' military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, are one of the key aspects of the 2023–2024 war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. Abū 'Ubayda came to be viewed as the "voice of the umma" and the Palestinian people, receiving extensive media coverage, including Al-Jazeera. This article analyzes his speeches as a discursive phenomenon in terms of rhetoric (performative vs. informative), structure (opening, middle, and closing), and meaning (framing the war as a religious conflict). Here, it is argued that Abū 'Ubayda's primary objective was to use the performative rhetoric of framing, asserting, and support-calling to portray the conflict as a religious war of al-Aqsa's liberation while omitting local realities and specifics on the ground. The reintroduction of religious rhetoric to the Arab-Muslim public discourse and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is likely to make positions more entrenched and uncompromising

EnThe mythical narrative of the god Pan exemplifies the dynamic nature of ancient Greek myths, conceived as living organisms in constant evolution, open to revisions and reinterpretations. In particular, the god's death and rebirth acquire, in the modern age, a symbolic significance reflecting the enduring legacy of classical culture and its models. This paper explores the transformations of the myth, tracing its development from ancient sources to its reinterpretations in twentieth-century Italian poetry, with a special focus on Pascoli and D'Annunzio

Media Education: rileggerne il ruolo nell’era post-mediale

    Get PDF
Parole chiave: Media Education, Intelligenza Artificiale, Multiculturalismo, IA Education, Cittadinanza Abstract: Media Education is grounded in the principle of fostering a critical understanding of media, to which learners should be guided through specifically designed educational processes. Without departing from its original meaning, however, it is necessary to reconsider Media Education within the post-media society from both an epistemological and a pedagogical perspective. Educational pathways in Media Education can no longer dispense with the integration of multicultural elements and AI Education, since contemporary society itself demands such an approach. This contribution, therefore, focusing on lower secondary school, aims to redefine the concept of Media Education in postmodern society. It does so by examining the operational strategies through which multicultural and AI Education components can be integrated into media-related educational practices, with the ultimate goal of fostering in students a renewed conception of citizenship. Keywords: Media Education, Artificial Intelligence, Multiculturalism, AI Education, Citizenshi
