Educational Research Literacy: Meanings and Components
Educational research literacy is a specialized literacy that is described as the ability to access, comprehend, and evaluate educational researches and studies, and the ability to plan and conduct research on educational context. With the proliferation of the educational studies, this ability is expected among educators. Nonetheless literature to discuss its meaning and components is limited. This paper proposes the conceptualization of the meaning of educational research literacy and its building blocks. It is argued that educational research literacy is develop around six interrelated components namely: knowledge of research concepts, statistical literacy, information literacy, research engagement, attitudes towards research and critical thinking skill
Fractal Deviation: Implication to non-verval Reasoning and Students\u27 Mathematics Competency
Fractals are geometric shapes with very interesting characteristics that beyond typical Geometry. In this study, it was hypothesized that fractal deviation of students’ handwriting skills is significantly correlated to their non-verbal reasoning and mathematics performance. Fifteen Grade 10 high school students served as participants of the study in which their handwriting skills were analyzed through copying the prototype drawing (FD = 1.2837). The samples of students’ drawing were subjected to fractal dimension analyses to find the fractal deviation. Pearson’s correlation was used to test the significant relationship among variables. After analyzing the result, it was found that fractal deviation of students’ handwriting skill is significantly related to their mathematics competency. Likewise, students who are mathematically inclined have higher fractal deviation index considering their handwriting than those who are not. Also, it was concluded that the higher the non-verbal reasoning skills of the students, the higher their Mathematics competency. Finally, no significant relationship was established between fractal deviation of students’ handwriting skills and their non-verbal reasoning
Development, Validation and Effectiveness of Enhancement Material in Science and Health V
Abstract - The objective of the study is to develop and validate the enhancement material in Science and Health 5 for the pupils of Mariano C. San Juan Elementary School in the school year 2015 – 2016.The subjects of the study were the grade 5 pupils of Mariano C. San Juan Elementary School. A total of forty - four (44) pupils were considered in the study, twenty-two (22) served as the experimental group and twenty-two (22) were in the control group.Thirty (30) public elementary school teachers who are teaching Science were also considered as respondents of the study since they validated the acceptability of the developed enhancement material in Science and Health 5.The topics included were those found by the respondents difficult and based from their National Achievement Test results. The topics were derived on 2010 Philippine Elementary Learning Competencies (PELC) Basic Education Curriculum (BEC). The topics made with the developed modules are The Reproductive System, The Respiratory System and The Urinary System. After the selection of the respondents used in the study, the researcher classified the experimental group and control group. When pretest was validated and item analyzed, the researcher administered the pretest to the two groups of respondents. The experimental group was taught using the developed enhancement material in Science and Health 5 while the control group was taught without using the enhancement material in Science and Health 5. After the conduct of the study, the posttest was given to both groups to determine the developed enhancement material in Science and Health 5. The data were tallied, analyzed and subjected to appropriate statistical treatment. From the findings of the study, it is concluded that the achievement of the experimental group in Science and Health significantly changed as compared to the performance of the control groups. The results described that the developed enhancement material in Science and Health 5 is highly acceptable by the respondents. Furthermore, there is a significant difference on the level of performance of Grade 5 pupils in the control group as revealed by the pretest and posttest results in terms of the Reproductive System, Respiratory System, and The Urinary System since the computed p-value are 0.000 respectively are less than 0.05 level of significance. Also, there is significant difference on the level of performance of kindergarten pupils in the experimental group as revealed by pretest and posttest results since the computed p-value of 0.00 respectively are less than 0.05 level of significance. However, there is no significant difference on the level of performance of Grade 5 pupils in control and experimental groups as revealed by the posttest result in terms of The respiratory System since the computed p-value is 0.0354 which is greater than 0.05 level of significance
Curriculum Implementation and Performance of Mathematics Education Students in One State University in the Philippines
Studies in the past two decades revealed the poor performance of students in Mathematics. In this study, the status of implementation of Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Mathematics Curriculum in One State University in the Philippines was analyzed using the descriptive evaluative research design. Five Mathematics professors were interviewed together with 42 BSEd Mathematics Major students. Document analysis was done on the submitted syllabi of the professors and the modes of assessment that they use for each lesson objective. Policies and Standards set by the Commission on Higher Education were also used to determine the status of compliance of the University in the offering of Bachelor of Secondary Education-Mathematics field of specialization. Based on the result, the university fully complied with the policies on Program Administration, Library, Facilities and Equipment, Laboratory School, and Admission and Retention but partially compliant on faculty qualifications

Career Advancement Opportunities of Migrant Filipino Teachers in Thailand
The study determined the extent of opportunities of career advancement for migrant Filipino teachers in Thailand. Specifically, the following sub-problems were answered. This study was guided by the hypothesis that was formulated that there is no significant relationship between extent of opportunities of the career advancement for Migrant Filipino Teachers in Thailand and the profile variables of respondents.
The descriptive research design was used in the study. Purposive sampling technique was used in determining the respondents from migrant Filipino teachers in Thailand. The research instrument that was used in gathering the data is a questionnaire distributed and retrieved by the researcher. The data gathered were analyzed and interpreted using frequency counts, percentages, mean, Spearman-rho correlation coefficient and Point Biserial and Likelihood Ratio.
Based on the results and findings accumulated, the following conclusions were generated: majority of the migrant Filipino teachers in Thailand are female young adults who are Roman Catholic believers, are teaching in the government schools for few years with a minimum qualification of college degree and specialization in English and sufficient number of seminars attended; migrant Filipino teachers perceive positive career advancement opportunities; and age and sex have moderate effect on the extent of opportunities of the career advancement for migrant Filipino teachers in Thailand.
Based on the above mentioned findings and conclusions, the following recommendations are hereby presented: migrant Filipino teachers in Thailand may establish professional development program or activities thru their organizations or religious affiliations. Partnership with institutions for graduate degree programs may be one of the main objectives of the program to be established. Further, migrant Filipino teachers are encouraged to participate and explore on different programs or activities that may enhance their awareness and motivation for the advancement of their teaching careers.
Moreover, since age and sex have moderate effect on the extent of opportunities of the career advancement for migrant Filipino teachers in Thailand, it is recommended that further studies may be conducted to explore all possibilities which may become basis for developments of policies and guidelines for improved career advancement program.
To further enhance the career advancement opportunities for teachers, a proposed training plan for career advancement for migrant Filipino teachers is recommended
The Role Of Science Experiment Centers In Scientific Gifted Children\u27s Science Education
- Intelligence is the according to a definition; it is an abstract name given to the observed effect on the behavior of harmonious, efficient and effective studies of all devices of the brain. In the determination of gifted individuals, this is reached through tests carried out in childhood. Science Experimental Centers are the names given to the environments that provide education in order to contribute to the development of knowledge, skills and production abilities with active, applied and experiential education and training, especially to increase the interest of children and young generation towards science, scientific thought, developing technologies. The gifted students may encounter the experimental setups and staff who can express themselves in Science Test Centers, whose numbers are increasing day by day. This study focuses on a model where Science Testing Centers can be a part of the education of gifted children
