Development of Tetracycline by AgO Nanoparticles and Studying its Activity on Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria : Pengembangan Tetrasiklin dengan Nanopartikel AgO dan Mempelajari Aktivitasnya pada Bakteri yang Resisten terhadap Antibiotik

    No full text
General background: Antibiotic resistance in bacteria has become a critical global health issue, necessitating the development of new strategies to enhance antibiotic efficacy. Specific background: Nanoparticles, particularly silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), have emerged as potential enhancers of antibiotics due to their unique properties and interactions with bacterial cells. Knowledge gap: However, the combination of nanoparticles with existing antibiotics, such as tetracycline, and their impact on bacterial inhibition and safety has not been fully explored. Aims: This study aims to investigate the antibacterial activity of silver oxide nanoparticles (AgO NPs) combined with tetracycline (TCS) and evaluate their effectiveness against resistant bacterial strains. Results: AgO NPs were synthesized using a photodeposition method, yielding nanoparticles with an average diameter of 2.24 nm. The AgO NPs + TCS combination demonstrated superior antibacterial activity, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 16 μg/mL against Staphylococci and 32 μg/mL against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, significantly outperforming standard tetracycline. Hemolysis assays confirmed the safety of the synthesized compound at all concentrations. Novelty: Silver oxide nanoparticles and tetracycline exhibit a unique synergistic interaction, enhancing antimicrobial effects by increasing bacterial membrane permeability, facilitating greater antibiotic infiltration. Implications: These findings suggest that AgO NPs combined with tetracycline offer a promising solution to overcome bacterial resistance, providing a potent and safe alternative to conventional antibiotic treatments. Highlights:   AgO NPs and tetracycline show enhanced antibacterial effects. More effective than standard tetracycline against resistant bacteria. Safe with no toxicity observed in hemolysis tests.   Keywords: Antibiotic resistance, silver nanoparticles, tetracycline, photodeposition, antibacterial activit

Evaluation of Serum Vitamin D3, PTH, Calcium and Iron Levels in Patients with H. pylori Infection: Evaluasi Kadar Vitamin D3, PTH, Kalsium dan Zat Besi Serum pada Pasien dengan Infeksi H. pylori

    No full text
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a gram negative bacterium, the prevalence of which is associated with chronic gastric infection and nutritional abnormalities. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the relationship between H. pylori infection and serum vitamin D3, PTH, calcium and iron levels in adults. The cross-sectional study was carried out at Al-Nasiriyah teaching hospital 20 patient with H. pylori infection and 20 healthy individuals. Blood samples were also examined for the presence of vitamin D3, PTH, calcium and iron content. It is shown that H. pylori-positive patients had significantly decreased serum vitamin D3, calcium and iron concentration, and increased PTH level comparing with control group. These results provide preliminary evidence to indicate that H. pylori infection may cause disorders in vitamin D3, calcium, iron metabolism that maybe associated with the impaired nutrient utilization that has clinical significance such as osteoporosis and anemia. More studies should be done to discover the causes of these depots and their effects on individuals with H. pylori Highlights:   H. pylori causes chronic gastric infections and nutritional issues. Infection reduces vitamin D3, calcium, iron; increases PTH levels. Linked to osteoporosis, anemia; further studies recommended.   Keywords: H. pylori, Serum vitamin D3, Parathyroid hormone, Calcium levels, Iro

In this research, the (Box-Jenkins) methodology and annual artificial neural networks in predicting theoretical and practical levels were identified and clarified by constructing time series models and artificial networks to predict the mortality rate of Iraq and the data represented by the mortality rate for the time period (1980-2028). It was obtained from the Central Statistical Organization where the data were analyzed using time series according to the Box-Jenkins method and artificial neural networks using the program (Eviws.v9, SPSS, Zaitun.TS) and the most important conclusions and recommendations were reached, the most important of which proved the time series model using residues and values The ARMA model has its advantage over the neural network model for predicting Iraqi mortality. So we recommend using this form. Highights: Utilized Box-Jenkins and neural networks for mortality prediction (1980–2028). Data analyzed using EViews, SPSS, Zaitun.TS, with ARMA outperforming neural networks. Recommended ARMA model for accurate Iraqi mortality rate forecasting. No full text
One of the most frequent surgical operations on children in Australasia is tonsillectomy. For a non-surgical audience, this study attempts to give a current evaluation of the procedure's indications (and the evidence basis for each of these indications), together with a discussion of the surgical technique, perioperative care, and risks. Recurrent pharyngotonsillitis and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are the main causes of tonsillectomy; tonsillectomy is typically done in combination with adenoidectomy for both conditions. Tonsillectomy has been shown to enhance quality of life, child behavior, and objective measurements of OSA in sleep studies. It is less clear how surgery affects cognitive function. Highlights:   Common pediatric surgery: Tonsillectomy for recurrent pharyngotonsillitis & obstructive sleep apnea. Benefits: Improves quality of life, behavior, and OSA measurements. Uncertainty: Cognitive effects of surgery remain unclear.   Keywords: Tonsillectomy, Children, Revie
