Increasing Crude Oil Production by Intermit Operation in Mae Soon Oil Field Fang Basin, Thailand
This study conducted an experiment to increase crude oil production by applying 8 days intermit operation to FA-MS-07-08 well, located in Mae soon oil field, Fang basin. The principle of intermit operation [1] is to reduce the operating hours of the sucker rod pumping unit from 24 hours per day to 12 hours per day which is resulted in having enough time for production fluids (crude oil and water) segregation and also for oil recovering from the deeper part of the reservoir. The study methodology included (1) required data collecting, e.g. production history data, drilling data and reservoir data [11] of Mae Soon oil field, the well bore data when start and stop the sucker rod pump, (2) production fluid samples collected from tested well analyzing and testing in laboratory, and (3) economic returns evaluating. After applying intermit operation to the tested well, it had been found that the intermit operation could reduce the electricity power cost of sucker rod pumping unit about 5,680 Baht per month. This operation could increase oil production rate about 73 percent compared to the normal operation, and could also give incomes from selling crude oil about 552,320 Baht per month.
GADMS: Gathering Aggregated Data using Mobile Sink in Wireless Sensor Networks
WSNs consist of resource constrained sensor nodes that monitor the physical environment and transmit their data to the Sink through multi-hop communication. Mobile sinks are used to reduce the number of hops the data travels and thereby reducing the overall energy consumption. In this paper we propose Gathering Aggregated Data using Mobile Sink in Wireless Sensor Networks (GADMS) protocol that allows the mobile sink to collect data from WSNs where path of the mobile sink is not predetermined. The mobile sink halts at a point in the network and broadcasts an aggregate query. The average path length of a data packet is a constant and hence it can withstand node failures. The performance analysis shows that GADMS incurs less energy consumption and improved packet delivery ratio in comparison to SinkTrail.
A Framework for an E-government Based on Service Oriented Artichitecture
Electronic government is use of information and communication technologies in government to provide public services, to improve managerial effectiveness and to promote democratic values; as well as a regulatory framework that facilitates information intensive initiatives and fosters the knowledge society. To develop framework for an e-government may dynamically change in e-Government system requirements and the need for a highly autonomous approach for government agencies. The public Agency Professional Survey is based on service oriented architecture that will be used to gather the benefits experienced by departments that are currently involved in the e-Government initiatives. The expected findings may include the outcome of the implementation of e-Government initiatives in terms of operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness towards the online public services delivery channel. The study e-Government Based on Service Oriented Architecture will be helpful in implementation framework of e-Government in Governments
Securing the IP Multimedia Subsystem with IPsec and HTTP Digest
Modern Telecommunication networks were combined from two communications: cellular networks and the Internet. The Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the key element in the Modern Telecommunication networks architecture that makes it possible to provide wide range cellular access to all the services that the Internet provides. So, IMS is a great achievement in the communication world with advantage to maintain single communication platform for all but the big challenge is to maintain an adequate security level in this different network environment. IMS is based principally on IP protocol. Therefore, it inherits the security issues of IP networks. The IMS architecture is open, distributed and it has the advantage of being flexible in its implementation and deployment. This generates a variety of communication interfaces, which can make the system very vulnerable to attack. Add to that, the services offered on the IMS network must be provided by ensuring confidentiality and respect the privacy of users. Therefore, it is necessary to secure the IMS network at every level of its architecture including the final customer or subscriber device. Solutions like firewalls, anti-spy ware and antivirus systems failed to counter the emerging threats because they only target specific types of threats. Adaptive Vibration Control for Cable-Bridge Coupled Uncertain Nonlinear System
Considering buffeting loading on the structure, technique of adaptive vibration control for long-span cable-bridge structure is developed. Model of vibration control for uncertain nonlinear systems of long-span cable-bridge structure is established; buffeting loading systems of long-span bridge structure is created by weighted amplitude wave superposition method. In order to depress buffeting loading influence of the wind-induce vibration for the structure and improve the robust performance of the vibration control, based on the semi-active vibration control devices and using adaptive control approach, an adaptive vibration controller and adaptive control laws for the uncertain parameters are designed. Numerical simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique
Performance Analysis of BAU Android Application using Firebase Analytics, ADT and Dalvik Tools
Smartphones have now become an integral part of our life. We carry our smartphone with us almost every time and use it to browse the internet, use social network, educational and other apps for different purposes. The apps in these smartphones are also getting smarter and useful in different aspects. These apps have made our life simpler by providing information at our fingertips. According to various statistics, the number of smartphone users in 2013 was 1.31 billion around the world. In 2016, it has exceeded 2 billion. Besides, 80% of the time spent on mobile devices is spent using apps, 20% in browser. This demonstrates the importance of mobile apps compared to traditional websites. In this paper, the performance analysis of an educational institute’s android application has been conducted to gain useful insights and understand the advantages of android application for any organization. The results clearly demonstrate the usefulness of mobile apps in terms of speed, reliability, security, portability and user engagement.
Cyber Security Challenges to Mobile Banking in SACCOs in Kenya
Development of mobile technology has enabled mobile devices to be adopted in daily activities. Financial institutions are adopting mobile devices for banking purposes to enable their clients to bank from anywhere at any time. Although, the adoption of mobile technology enabled convenience to the users, it has brought about a great security challenge. This paper reviews the cyber security challenges to mobile banking and ways which SACCOs minimize the impact. Findings indicate that some mitigation strategies to cyber threats to mobile banking are in place though they seem not to address the major challenges
Analyzing Cost Estimation Model to Optimize COCOMO II for Enterprise Level Software
The stimulus to carry out this research is to find out the best ERP cost estimation model while implementing ERP in the context of Pakistan. For this purpose study has utilized qualitative and quantitative approach. Initially the comparison of existing several cost estimation model has been done through literature review. On the basis of substantive literature review, one ERP cost estimation mode has been chosen i.e. COCOMO. In second phase, in order to validate this model in the context of Pakistan, the study has adapted a questionnaire from relevant study and survey has been done of the IT companies operating in Pakistan which are also involved in ERP implementation. Sample has been collected from 27 companies and data analysis is done in a statistical software (SPSS). On the basis of results obtained from the SPSS and with the support of literature findings has been extracted. Findings indicate that COCOMO II is the best model to estimate the ERP implementation cost in the context of Pakistan. Moreover it is recommended to validate his model in the other countries. Findings would be beneficial for the future studies and contributes in the knowledge of scientific community. Moreover, results of this study can be helpful for other companies in Pakistan who are involved in ERP implementation process and looking for best model to estimate cost of ERP implementation
An Alternative Model to Overcoming Two Phase Commit Blocking Problem
In distributed transactions, the atomicity requirement of the atomic commitment protocol should be preserved. The two phased commit protocol algorithm is widely used to ensure that transactions in distributed environment are atomic. However, a main drawback was attributed to the algorithm, which is a blocking problem. The system will get in stuck when participating sites or the coordinator itself crashes. To address this problem a number of algorithms related to 2PC protocol were proposed such as back up coordinator and a technique whereby the algorithm passes through 3PC during failure. However, both algorithms face limitations such as multiple site and backup coordinator failures. Therefore, we proposed an alternative model to overcoming the blocking problem in combined form. The algorithm was simulated using Britonix transaction manager (BTM) using Eclipse IDE and MYSQL. In this paper, we assessed the performance of the alternative model and found that this algorithm handled site and coordinator failures in distributed transactions using hybridization (combination of two algorithms) with minimal communication messages
An Algorithm for Ranking Web Pages Based on Links and Ant Colony Algorithm
With the exponential web growth, techniques of recommender systems and pages ranking algorithms have gained importance over time. Web mining which is considered as a subset of data mining, is being emphasized in three categories: web mining based on application, web mining based on content and web mining based on structure. Pages ranking algorithms operates mainly based on structure-based web mining. In the current study it has been tried to maximize accuracy of pages ranking with combining function and structure-based techniques. Improvement of Page Rank algorithm is performed using user profiles and important attributes to page ranking algorithm (number of inbound and outbound links to pages). Due to the problem broadness, the use of meta-heuristic algorithms (such as ant colony algorithm) has been highlighted in the current study and the fitness function is set so that the increase of iterations will increase the accuracy of PageRank algorithms. The results of the study explain accuracy of the proposed method compared to other methods
