Antifungal Activity of Ethanol Extract of Stem Bark And Fruit Flesh of Baccaurea Lanceolata Against Fungi Causing Skin Infections
Indonesia has a diversity of medicinal plants that are used by the community to treat various diseases. Indonesian people often experience skin problems caused by fungi. The high number of cases of fungal diseases is due to the high air humidity in the tropics, thus supporting the growth of fungi that cause skin infections. This study examines the phytochemical content and antifungal activity of Baccaurea lanceolata (lempaung) plants. The parts of lempaung used as samples are the stem bark and fruit flesh. Samples were taken in Bioa Sengok Village, Rimbo Pengadang District, Lebong Regency. Antifungal testing was conducted at the Chemistry Education Laboratory and Microbiology Laboratory of Bengkulu University (UNIB) from January to June 2022. Antifungal activity testing uses the disc diffusion method by immersing the disc into the ethanol extract of lempaung. The test fungi used were C. albicans, M. furfur, and T. mentagrophytes. The results of phytochemical tests showed that the stem bark and fruit flesh samples of lempaung contained alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and terpenoids. The antifungal activity test results showed that the samples had inhibition against C. albicans, M. furfur, and T. mentagrophytes
The Role of Socioscientific Issues (SSI) in Natural of Science (NOS) Learning: A Systematic Literature Review
This study analyzes the role of socioscientific issues (SSI) in improving learners' competence in learning the nature of science (NOS) based on articles in SCOPUS-indexed journals. This systematic review used the PRISMA framework to classify the pedagogical aspects of SSI in science education. Of the initial 717 articles, 53 were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results showed that SSI-based NOS learning can develop competencies such as argumentation, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and conceptual understanding. Examples of SSI integration include climate change, biotechnology, biodiversity, waste management, and chemical engineering. Its implementation involves inquiry, problem, and model-based strategies, with methods of discussion, debate, digital resources, and role-play. This review concludes that SSI provides a transformational approach to NOS learning by enhancing learners' cognitive and interpersonal competencies, making it a promising framework for future educational practice
Enhancing Higher-Order Thinking Skills in Elementary Science Learning Using the RADEC Model
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model in improving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in science learning of fifth grade elementary school students in Palembang City. This study used an experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. This study involved 48 fifth grade elementary school students in Palembang City who were divided into experimental groups (n = 24) and control groups (n = 24). Data collection was carried out through a HOTS Science test on the material Magnets, Electricity, and Technology for Life. The form of questions used, namely multiple-choice questions and essay questions, has been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the analysis using the t-test showed that there was a significant effect of the RADEC model on improving students' HOTS (sig. 0.028 <0.05). The average HOTS post-test score of the experimental class was higher than the control class (76.96 > 68.25). The findings of the study indicate that RADEC can be implemented as an alternative learning strategy to improve HOTS in elementary science learning.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) dalam meningkatkan Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) pada pembelajaran IPA siswa kelas V sekolah dasar di Kota Palembang. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain posttest-only control group. Penelitian ini membandingkan kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan model RADEC dan di kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model ekspositori. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes HOTS IPA tentang Magnet, Listrik, dan Teknologi untuk Kehidupan. Bentuk soal yang digunakan, yaitu soal pilihan ganda dan uraian, yang telah di uji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil analisis menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan model RADEC terhadap peningkatan HOTS siswa (sig. 0,028 < 0,05). Rata-rata nilai HOTS pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol (76,96 > 68,25). Model RADEC terbukti dapat meningkatkan siswa untuk lebih aktif, berpikir kritis, kreatif, dan analitis dalam keterampilan Higher Order Thinking Skills. Selain itu, model ini efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan abad 21, termasuk kemampuan 4C (critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration) yang. Guru dapat menggunakan model RADEC di dalam pembelajaran, karena sintaksnya yang fleksibel dan interaktif, RADEC menjadi alternatif pembelajaran inovatif yang mampu meningkatkan kualitas hasil belajar.

Optimization of Tetrigona apicalis Propolis Extract using Glycerol Solvent with Shaking Ultrasound Assisted Extraction Method
Tetrigona apicalis were known as lebah penyengat and its can be produce propolis were extracted by metode shaking ultrasound-assisted extraction (SUAE), which produces perfect extraction, higher yield and active content, and a shorter time. The purpose of this research were fined the optimum conditions for extracted its by using the SUAE method in glycerol solvent. It were done to raw propolis with size reduced, then solvent was added and macerated using shaker. It was processed with a sonicator, than filtered. The solvent used 70% glycerol, and the results of the propolis extract are processed using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The optimal conditions of its process from the yield response shown were a stirring time of 28.76 minutes and an ultrasonic process time of 23.94 minutes with a yield of 4.238%. Based on statistical analysis using Minitab Version 19 software, stirring time and ultrasonic processing time are factors that have a significant influence on the yield of propolis extract produced. The model used is a quadratic model with R2 0.9191. A quadratic equation model was obtained which states the relationship between propolis extract yield and the varied factors X = 0.865 + 0.0091A – 0.0186B – 0.000006A2 + 0.00370.B2 + 0.00215A
The Effect of Self Hypnosis on Anxiety of Pregnant Women in the Third Trimester at TPMB Sahabat Ibu, Malang Regency
Pregnancy represents a profound physiological and psychological transition, often accompanied by significant discomfort, particularly during the third trimester. This discomfort, in turn, frequently triggers heightened levels of anxiety among expectant mothers. Pregnancy-related anxiety is a pervasive psychological condition, as highlighted by data from the WHO in 2015, which indicated that approximately 10% of pregnant women and 13% of postpartum women worldwide experience mental health disorders, including trauma and depression. Elevated anxiety during pregnancy poses considerable risks to both maternal and fetal health. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of self-hypnosis in reducing anxiety levels among third-trimester pregnant women. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was applied, involving 40 pregnant women experiencing anxiety. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a significant reduction in anxiety levels following the self-hypnosis intervention (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). These findings highlight self-hypnosis as an effective, non-invasive, and accessible therapeutic approach for improving maternal psychological well-being, with potential benefits for both maternal and fetal health
Design and Development of Website and Android-Based Aceh Biodiversity Applications
Aceh is an exceptional region in Indonesia characterized by significant biodiversity and abundant natural wealth. Despite these numerous benefits, there is limited information regarding the potential of biodiversity in this region. Therefore, this research aimed to design and develop Website and Android-based applications to facilitate access to information regarding biodiversity in Aceh. In the development process, the Waterfall method was used, and the applications consisted of two main components, namely the back-end and the front-end. The users were divided into three categories, including contributors, verificators, and admins. After the development was complete, functionality testing was conducted using the black box method, and usability was examined using the Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ). The results of functionality testing showed that both applications operate efficiently, thereby providing users with a satisfying experience when accessing information about Aceh biodiversity. The usability score was approximately 7 for Website-based and 6 for Android-based applications, showing a high level of usability
Effectiveness of Selected Medicinal Plants in Reducing Blood Pressure in Pregnant Women with Hypertension in Banten Province (2024)
Hypertension in pregnancy is a major cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Amaranthus Caudatus, Cocos Nucifera L, Punica Granatum L, Sechium Edule, Solanum Lycopersicum, Brassica Oleracea L, Moringa Oleifera, Apium Graveolens L, Persea Americana, and Cucumis Melo L in reducing blood pressure in prehypertensive pregnant women in Banten Province. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group approach and total sampling technique was used. The results showed a significant reduction in blood pressure (p<0.05), with Punica Granatum L and Sechium Edule demonstrating a significant difference in effectiveness (p=0.000). This study confirms that non-pharmacological management can be an alternative for lowering blood pressure in prehypertensive pregnant women
Earth Science Education Research in the Philippines: Insights from Published Scholarly Work (2013–2022)
Addressing many of today’s global challenges requires solid understanding of the different geologic processes that operate in and shape our planet. As such, Earth science has been included in the national science standards of many countries, including the Philippines. To describe the status of scholarly work in this discipline, one can draw insights from the systematic analyses of published research outputs, such as journal articles. This paper presents the state of research on Earth science education in the Philippines from 2013 to 2022. Google Scholar searches and a survey of locally published journals yielded 28 open-access research papers for analysis. Inclusion criteria were based on previous bibliometric studies conducted in other subfields of science education. Data collection was accomplished from January to November 2024. Most research studies focus on learning conceptions and adopt a quasi-experimental research design. The most frequently investigated demographic group are high school students and sample sizes vary from 30 to more than 500. Researcher-made tests and questionnaires were widely used as data collection tools, while inferential statistical methods were commonly utilized in data analysis. Implications to Earth science education research and recommendations to expand the scope of similar studies in the future are also discussed
Assessing Dipterocarp Diversity at Soraya Research Station, Leuser Ecosystem
The Soraya research station is a lowland tropical forest and is included in the management area of the Leuser Ecosystem. This research station has a very high potential for biodiversity. This study aimed to determine the number and types of members of the Dipterocarpaceae tribe and to calculate the quantitative parameters of the plant community. Data collection in this study was carried out using the squared plot method placed randomly at the research location. The analysis used is the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, relative density, relative frequency, relative dominance, and Importance Value Index. The results show that ten species of Dipterocarpaceae belong to various levels of growth, namely seedlings, saplings, poles, and trees. Species of the Dipterocarpaceae spread over 40 plots. Shorea multiflora (Burck) Symington is a species that shows a widespread level and high degree of dominance at the study site. Analysis of plant species diversity using the Shannon-Wiener Index shows that both forest types, primary and secondary, are classified into the high species diversity index
The Effect of Using the MARBEL Indonesian Culture Educational Game in Flipped Classroom Learning on the Science and Science Learning Outcomes
The purpose of this study is to ascertain how the Marbel Indonesian Culture Educational Game, when used in a flipped classroom, affects the scientific learning outcomes and science curriculum of fourth-grade students at SDN Kajen. This study employs quasi-experimental quantitative methodologies. Thirty-two grade 4 respondents from SDN Kajen participated in this study. Both test and non-test methods are used in data collection. The findings of this study demonstrate that student learning outcomes are impacted when the Indonesian Cultural Marbel educational game is used in Flipped Classroom instruction. The significance values for pair 1 (0.001 < 0.05) and pair 2 (0.001 < 0.005) demonstrate this. Additionally, the use of the instructional game Indonesian Cultural Marbel in Flipped Classroom Learning improves student learning results by 41.5%. The Marbel Budaya Indonesia educational game is therefore considered less effective in boosting the efficacy of Flipped Classroom learning because its N-Gain value of 0.415 places it in the less effective group
