    Dentin Hypersensitivity: A Literature Review

    Dentin hypersensitivity is characterized by brief, intense pain triggered by external stimuli that affect exposed dentin with open tubules. The condition is primarily caused by two factors: the exposure and loss of dentin and the opening of dentin tubules, which allows sensory signals from the pulp to be transmitted in response to stimulation of the dentin surface. A precise diagnosis is crucial before initiating treatment and begins with a thorough patient medical history and clinical examination. Various treatment options have been developed to manage sensitivity, focusing primarily on nerve desensitization and the closure of open dentinal tubules. Developing a better understanding of the causes and mechanisms of dentin hypersensitivity is essential for effective prevention and treatment strategies for patients suffering from this condition.     The advancement of technology that continues to develop today can help accelerate and simplify human work. Technological progress facilitates communication without limitations of space and time. Easy internet access makes it easier to obtain various types of information. However, the vast amount of information available online can also lead to the spread of hoaxes and misinformation. This makes digital literacy crucial for the public to distinguish between valid and invalid information. Social media, as an easily accessible form of information technology, can serve as an educational medium for promoting digital literacy. Social media as a model for digital literacy can also be applied in science education by providing students with worksheets and asking them to review information found on social media related to specific science topics. This approach not only strengthens students’ digital literacy skills but also deepens their understanding of scientific concepts by connecting them with real-world issues and current information trends. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data derived from previous research conducted over the past ten years. The results show that digital literacy is essential for communities in utilizing technology effectively. A high level of digital literacy enables individuals to differentiate between accurate and inaccurate information. The opportunities for using social media in digital literacy education include enhanced collaborative communication, engagement and accessibility, empowerment, lifelong learning, and the promotion of innovative educational practices. The challenges, however, include limited access and resource constraints, barriers to digital literacy, privacy and security concerns, and ethical and professional considerations.     Integrating Sandur Madura as a Cultural Context in Science Education: An Ethnographic Study on Migration and Acculturation in West Kalimantan

    Immigration by Madurese natives in West Java was carried out due to economic and geographical factors and supported by an independent, dynamic, and courageous nature. This economic factor is indicated by the still high poverty rate in East Java and the high level of competition in getting jobs. Migration is an option for Madurese people to find sources of life that are starting to be limited; one of the migration destinations is in West Kalimantan. Many Madurese people migrate to West Kalimantan because they already have relatives there and have opportunities to improve their economy. This migration certainly affects the culture of the community, where Madura has a culture that must be maintained by its people even though they are outside the Madura area; the goal is to preserve and maintain the culture. Sandur is one of the Madurese cultures in the form of a theatre performance that integrates music, dance, and acrobatic silat movements. Education is one of the keys to preserving Madurese culture for immigrant communities in West Kalimantan. The method used is a qualitative ethnographic approach through observation and structured in-depth interviews to understand the dynamics and interactions of the Madurese ethnic group with local ethnic groups. The results of the study show that the Sandur performing arts not only function as entertainment, but also as a means of social education that conveys moral and ethical values, a bridge of acculturation. The process of enculturation and acculturation creates cultural harmony that enriches the identities of both parties, marked by the modernization of Sandur in its performances to adapt to local culture in West Kalimantan. The existence of a curriculum that supports Sandur culture can support students' sense of pride and active participation so that students will have awareness and participate in preserving Sandur culture.     Secondary Metabolites and Antioxidant Properties of Lichens from Sicike-Cike Nature Park, North Sumatra

    This study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical composition and antioxidant activity of five lichen species Cladonia portentosa, Cladonia rapii, Letharia vulpina, Parmotrema hypotropum, and Usnea trichodea collected from Sicike-Cike Nature Park, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Methanol extracts were prepared from dried and powdered lichen samples. Qualitative phytochemical screening using specific reagents identified the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, terpenoids/steroids, and glycosides in varying levels among the species. Antioxidant activity was assessed using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method, with IC50 values ranging from 42.3244 µg/mL to 86.7479 µg/mL. Parmotrema hypotropum demonstrated the strongest antioxidant activity (IC50 = 42.3244 µg/mL), categorized as moderate based on literature benchmarks. The strong activity is likely due to the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. In contrast, Usnea trichodea showed the weakest activity. These results suggest that certain lichens, especially Parmotrema hypotropum, may serve as promising sources of natural antioxidants. The findings support potential applications in pharmaceutical formulations and natural cosmetic products, particularly those targeting oxidative stress. Future studies should focus on isolating dominant compounds such as usnic acid or flavonoid derivatives and further exploring their bioactivity profiles

    Development of Interactive Learning Multimedia Based on Android Integrated with STEM Heat Material to Improve Students' Computational Thinking

    This study aims to produce an interactive learning multimedia application product based on Android integrated with STEM heat material that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' computational thinking skills. This research and development was carried out using a 4D model consisting of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. This study uses a mixed methods concurrent embedded model consisting of five stages of data collection, namely qualitative data collection followed by quantitative data collection followed by providing interventions in the form of qualitative data collection followed by quantitative data collection and finally qualitative data collection. The trial design used was a non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The subjects of the study were 64 junior high school students, 32 in the experimental class and 32 in the control class. The results of the study showed that the resulting product was stated as: very valid (94%) by material experts, (95%) by media experts; very practical to use in learning by students (91%), with a very high level of learning implementation, namely (94.57%); effective in improving students' computational thinking with high n-gain (0.77) and effect size with criteria of (91%). Based on the results of research and data analysis, it shows that the developed product can be used in learning heat material to improve students' computational thinking abilities.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk aplikasi multimedia pembelajaran interaktif berbasis android terintegrasi STEM materi kalor yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan computational thinking siswa.  Penelitian dan pengembangan ini dilakukan dengan model 4D yang terdiri dari pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), pengembangan (develop), dan penyebaran (disseminate).  Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed methods model concurrent embedded yang terdiri dari lima tahap pengumpulan data, yaitu pengumpulan data kualitatif dilanjutkan dengan pengumpulan data kuantitatif dilanjutkan dengan pemberian intervensi berupa pengumpulan data kualitatif dilanjutkan pengumpulan data kuantitatif dan terakhir pengumpulan data kualitatif.  Desain uji coba yang digunakan adalah non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik SMP berjumlah 64 orang, 32 orang kelas eksperimen dan 32 orang kelas kontrol.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produk yang dihasilkan dinyatakan 1) sangat valid (94%) oleh ahli materi, (95%) oleh ahli media; 2) sangat praktis digunakan dalam pembelajaran oleh peserta didik sebesar (91%), dengan tingkat keterlaksanaan pembelajaran sangat tinggi yaitu (94.57%); 3) efektif dalam meningkatkan computational thinking siswa dengan n-gain tinggi (0.77) dan effect size dengan kriteria sebesar (91%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data menunjukkan bahwa produk yang dikembangkan ini dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran materi kalor untuk meningkatkan kemampuan computational thinking siswa

    Sosialisasi Pencegahan Pernikahan Usia Anak di SMP 1 Satap Lenek Duren Kecamatan Lenek

    Pernikahan usia anak di Provinsi NTB mencapai 51% pada tahun 2017, menjadikannya tertinggi kedua di Indonesia. Faktor budaya, rendahnya pendidikan, dan minimnya peran orang tua serta tokoh masyarakat berkontribusi terhadap tingginya angka pernikahan usia anak, khususnya di desa Lenek Duren. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, perlu dilalukan sosialisasi mengenai pecegahan pernikahan usia anak, dengan narasumber dari LPSDM Lombok Timur, melibatkan siswa SMP 1 Satap Lenek Duren, guru, dan staf desa.     Caulerpa racemosa (anggur laut) merupakan rumput laut dengan potensi manfaat kesehatan yang masih belum banyak dikenal. Masyarakat pesisir rentan terhadap penyakit kulit akibat paparan sinar matahari serta penyakit metabolik akibat rendahnya asupan gizi. Edukasi mengenai manfaat anggur laut berpotensi menjadi upaya promotif dan preventif yang relevan. Kurangnya pengetahuan Masyarakat mengenai zat aktif anggur laut yang menyebabkan anggur laut hanya dimanfaatkan sebagai komoditas, bukan sebagai sumber pangan fungsional. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan melalui penyuluhan dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD) kepada masyarakat di Pantai Ekas. Penyuluhan berlangsung selama satu hari dan diikuti oleh 15 peserta. Kegiatan diawali dengan tanya jawab untuk menggali pengetahuan awal, dilanjutkan dengan penyampaian materi dan evaluasi pemahaman individu.     Penumpukkan logam berat Kadmium (Cd) pada makhluk hidup merupakan pengetahuan yang penting untuk dipahami oleh siswa sejak dari pendidikan dasar sampai perguruan tinggi termasuk siswa Madrasah Tsanawiah Yasim Nata Kabupaten Bima. Penyelenggaraan kegiatan dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berkaitan dengan adanya masalah yang dirasakan oleh  mitra yaitu tentang bagaimana upaya yang seharusnya dilakukan agar dapat meningkatkan konsep keilmuan tentang logam berat Kadmium (Cd), dan keterampilan yang bagaimanakah yang perlu dimiliki dari awal oleh siswa Madrasah Tsanawiah Yasim Nata  Kabupaten Bima agar model akumulasi Cd dalam tubuh organisme dapat dimengerti dan dipahami dengan benar. Tujuan dari kegiatan pelatihan tentang model akumulasi logam berat Cd yaitu agar pemahaman dan pengetahuan siswa dapat meningkatkan. Tujuan lain yaitu untuk meningkatkan sikap terampil dan wawasan pengetahuan agar terhindar dari paparan langsung dengan Cd dalam rutinitas sehari-hari, sehingga siswa Mts Yasim Nata Kabupaten Bima tidak terkena dampak dari akumulasi loam berat Cd. Pelaksanaan pelatihan ini dapat bermanfaat terhadap meningkatnya pengetahuan, pemahaman dan ketrampilan siswa terhadap model akumulasi logam Cd. Pelatihan ini juga bermanfaat bagi siswa dalam menemukan supaya terhindar dari paparan langsung dengan logam Cd dalam rutinitas harian kehidupan. Kesimpulan dari pelatihan ini yaitu munculnya peningkatan pengertian, tambahan ilmu pengetahuan dan keterampilan khususnya yang berhubungan dengan akumulasi logan  berat Cd dalam tubuh organisme di MTs Yasim Nata Kabpaten  Bima yang pada akhirnya dapat mengerti dengan baik tentang model akumulasi logam berat Cd dan cara menghindari diri dari kontaminasi logam Kadmium pada tubuh organisme dalam kehidupan sehari-har

    Permasalahan konsumsi energi listrik yang tidak efisien menjadi tantangan penting dalam dunia teknik dan pendidikan. Mahasiswa sebagai calon teknisi dan tenaga ahli perlu dibekali keterampilan dalam menerapkan prinsip efisiensi energi secara praktis, salah satunya melalui instalasi listrik yang tepat guna. Melalui kegiatan pelatihan oleh laboratorium-KBK sistem tenaga Jurusan Teknik Elektro bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas mahasiswa dalam memahami dan menerapkan sistem pencahayaan yang efisien melalui edukasi teoritis dan praktik pengukuran intensitas cahaya (lux) berdasarkan standar. Kegiatan dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan, praktik lapangan, pengukuran lux, dan simulasi instalasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman konseptual dan keterampilan teknis mahasiswa. Hasil pengukuran intensitas pencahayaan yang telah dilakukan pada ruang laboratorium sistem tenaga peserta melakukan simulasi untuk mengetahui distribusi pencahayaan. Menggunakan Software DIALux-evo memberikan hasil nilai distribusi lux pada setiap area tampak atas dan visualisasi secara 3D.     Global Volunteering Exchange: Upaya Konservasi Mangrove Berbasis Masyarakat di Pantai Cemara, Desa Lembar Selatan, Lombok Barat

    This international mangrove conservation program implemented a Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR) approach at Cemara Beach, West Lombok, addressing 57% mangrove loss over the past decade. The collaboration between Universitas Mataram (Indonesia) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia) engaged 35 participants (20 students, 13 lecturers, and 2 local farmers) in rehabilitating 0.5 hectares of degraded coastal area through strategic planting of 200 Rhizophora mucronata seedlings. The three-phase methodology included: (1) Pre-activity ecological surveys and stakeholder coordination, (2) Implementation combining theoretical training (mangrove ecology, planting techniques) and hands-on planting sessions with 1.5m spacing optimization, and (3) Post-activity evaluation through participant questionnaires and focus group discussions. Key innovations included experiential learning modules and the development of an Implementation Agreement for sustained institutional collaboration. Results demonstrated 82% seedling survival after 3 months, with 92% participant competency improvement in mangrove management. The program successfully integrated local knowledge (via "Relawan Mangrove" farmers' group) with academic expertise, creating a replicable model for coastal rehabilitation. Challenges identified included the need for extended training duration (recommended 50% longer) and enhanced safety protocols for future iterations. Strategic impacts aligned with SDGs 14 (Life Below Water) and 17 (Partnerships), establishing a transnational conservation network while enhancing community resilience. The initiative's success is documented through: (1) peer-reviewed publications in Jurnal Pengabdian Magister Pendidikan IPA, (2) institutional social media dissemination, and (3) formalized monitoring frameworks for long-term ecological assessment.Program konservasi mangrove internasional ini menerapkan pendekatan Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR) di Pantai Cemara, Lombok Barat, sebagai respons terhadap penurunan luasan hutan mangrove sebesar 57% dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir. Kolaborasi antara Universitas Mataram (Indonesia) dan Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia) melibatkan 35 peserta (20 mahasiswa, 13 dosen, dan 2 petani lokal) dalam rehabilitasi wilayah pesisir terdegradasi seluas 0,5 hektar melalui penanaman strategis 200 bibit Rhizophora mucronata. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri atas tiga tahap: (1) Pra-kegiatan berupa survei ekologis dan koordinasi pemangku kepentingan, (2) Implementasi yang menggabungkan pelatihan teori (ekologi mangrove, teknik penanaman) dengan praktik lapangan (penanaman dengan jarak optimal 1,5 m), serta (3) Evaluasi pasca-kegiatan melalui kuesioner peserta dan diskusi kelompok terfokus. Inovasi kunci mencakup modul pembelajaran eksperiensial dan penyusunan Implementation Agreement untuk kolaborasi kelembagaan berkelanjutan. Hasil monitoring menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan hidup bibit mencapai 82% setelah 3 bulan, dengan peningkatan kompetensi peserta sebesar 92% dalam pengelolaan mangrove. Program ini berhasil mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal (melalui kelompok tani "Relawan Mangrove") dengan keahlian akademik, menciptakan model rehabilitasi pesisir yang dapat direplikasi. Tantangan yang teridentifikasi termasuk perlunya perpanjangan durasi pelatihan (disarankan +50%) dan penyempurnaan protokol keselamatan untuk kegiatan mendatang. Dampak strategis program selaras dengan TPB/SDGs ke-14 (Ekosistem Laut) dan ke-17 (Kemitraan), membangun jaringan konservasi lintas negara sekaligus meningkatkan ketahanan masyarakat. Keberhasilan ini terdokumentasi melalui: (1) publikasi ilmiah di Jurnal Pengabdian Magister Pendidikan IPA, (2) diseminasi media sosial institusi, dan (3) kerangka pemantauan terstruktur untuk evaluasi ekologis jangka panjang
