No full textSNAP News was a weekly publication founded by Eugene Coleman in 1949 to record the achievements of the African-American community in San Antonio. The publication began as a weekly magazine and newspaper that covered local politics, social events, sports, and news. SNAP was dedicated to covering important news about the civil rights movement, police brutality, segregation, and other racially-motivated crimes. The publication also highlighted many sororities and churches each week, with updates on all of the social life that was happening within the community. It was a well-rounded publication that gives an insightful view into life in the 1950s and ‘60s, as well as into the ‘80s and mid-2000s. The SNAP News collection features a large, but incomplete run of one of San Antonio’s longest running weekly newspapers, spanning from 1954-2013."Focus on current events" (varies).

Milagros y Montopolis
No full text"Milagros y Montopolis by Wayne Miyamoto is based on a series of gestural drawings that use mass, form, rhythm and movement. The artist used a low-resolution digital image to render the pixilated background and a vertical column of an anthropomorphic form as the center of the composition. The loose strokes and multiple colors that make up this central element give a sense of volatility to the figure, rendering it as a whirlwind or a vibrating sound wave. Miyamoto plays with the imagery interlacing subliminal color forms some of which emerge to the surface. There is a luminescent quality to the print, reinforced by the artist’s use of metallic ink. The title of the piece, Milagros y Montopolis, refers to Miyamoto’s experience here in Austin and being witness to the alchemical process that takes place in the printmaking studio." - excerpt from Serieproject.org22.5 x 14.5 i
