The concept of zero-energy building and energy-efficient building is becoming the goal of building design. Sustainable construction, which includes proper methods, materials, technologies, can ensure environmentally friendly use of natural resources and mitigation of global warming. Construction is an industry that does not stand still and almost all the time we see the construction of new buildings, the renovation of existing buildings, etc., but do these buildings meet modern standards? The authors will perform the necessary calculations to find out to what extent a real construction object meets modern requirements and how the energy efficiency of this object could be further improved

Criminals are coming up with new ways to obtain money illegally. Often these crimes are transnational in nature, making it difficult for victims to return the money lost. Funds are transferred to payment systems such as cryptocurrencies, which makes it very difficult to track their progress. REMOTE WORK ADAPTATION AS A RESULT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN LATVIA
Get PDFThe author researches the situation of remote work in Latvia both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as compares such work arrangements in context with global tendencies. The study analyses how COVID 19 global pandemic effects telework adaptation of employees in the private and public sectors. The goal of this publication is to research the introduction of telework in Latvia under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research reveals that remote and telework is not a novelty on a global scale but has been largely regarded as the white-collar employee privilege, however, in Latvia this work model have been rarely used in the pre-pandemic time with an exception of the IT sector. Moreover, such arrangements in Latvia have been previously overlooked due to lack of digitalization among the company\u27s processes, reluctance to implement innovative management solutions, deficient legislation, as well as low level of trust in employees by management. According to professionals of the field, the lately gained popularity of telework arrangement will be kept for 20%-30% of the employees in Latvia after lifting the physical distancing rules

TESTIMONY OF THE ACCUSED PERSON AND ITS CHECKING IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS
Get PDFOn July 6, 2020, the law “Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law” entered into force, which significantly changed the attitude of the legislator towards the right of the accused to testify. The aim of the study is to examine the testimony of the accused and their examination, paying special attention to the examination of the testimony of the accused in court. The object of the research is the testimony of the accused person and their examination in the criminal proceedings. Tasks of the research: 1) to find out the status of the testimony of the accused from the point of view of proof; 2) to analyze the regulation of the testimony of the accused and the legal consequences after the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law of 6 July 2020; 3) to summarize the practice of the Supreme Court in 2020-2022; 4) to develop conclusions and proposals for solving the identified problems. Hypothesis of the research: the problem of the accused\u27s testimony became relevant after the contradictory amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law, which entered into force on July 6, 2020, the uniform application of which is not ensured in practice

Get PDF40% percent of crops are lost every year due to plant diseases. It is physically difficult for people to detect plant diseases in large-scale fields, especially at an early stage. The paper deals with the YoloV5 neural network training using different technologies. The neural network is trained to classify plant species and their diseases using photographs. The open access dataset PlantDoc was used for training. PlantDoc provides 2,569 images of 13 plant species and 27 classes for image classification and object detection. For the purity of the experiment, training was performed 10 times without changing the parameters. As a result of each training, we had obtained testing data on which we could draw conclusions

Get PDFThe study of the process of laser welding of various aluminum-steel joints is necessary to promote the possibility of realization of new products and designs in instrumentation and mechanical engineering. Laser welding, due to its many advantages, is considered a very promising process of joining different materials, although its application in industry is still limited. Welding aluminum with steel using laser sources is a challenging task mainly due to the formation of brittle intermetallic joints (IMC) at the joint interface. This paper aims to give a brief overview of some new research on laser welding of aluminum to steel, as well as to point out some of our initial laboratory research in this direction.[1
