SCHOOL LEADERS MATTER: THE ROLE OF SCHOOL PRINCIPALS IN IMPLEMENTING UDL IN K-12 SCHOOLS
The aim of this article is to fill the gap of scientific evidence on the role of school principals in implementing UDL in K-12 schools. The case study research was conducted, and field notes were taken from one district in Lithuania, which has been implementing UDL in its schools since 2019. The data for this research was gathered using in-depth semi-structured interviews involving 5 participants. Based on an inductive thematic analysis, six themes emerged: initiating UDL as an organisational change; planning and ensuring the development of staff competencies related to didactic decisions; initiating changes in teachers’ attitudes; motivating teachers to take leadership at the classroom level; promoting the sharing of experiences among teachers (successes and failures); and establishing and maintaining an organisational culture. The discussion explores the implications of the findings for the successful and effective application of UDL in K-12 schools.
FITNESS LEVEL OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS ENGAGED IN SPORTS
School physical education is effective means of providing children with the knowledge for lifelong physical activity. The research was aimed to examine the influence of different sports activities (badminton, basketball, football) on fitness level of boys aged 10-11. 72 boys aged 10-11 were engaged in the research. Evaluation of children’s fitness level involved anthropometric parameters of body length (cm); body mass (kg); hand dynamometry (kg). Cardiovascular and respiratory systems were also assessed: heart rate (HR, bpm) – method of palpation; blood pressure – systolic (SBP, mm Hg) and diastolic (DBP, mm Hg) – method of Korotkoff sounds; vital capacity of lungs (VC, L) – spirometer measuring. The Ruffier index, life index, strength index, the Robinson index and the Quetelet index were considered as well. Summing the points of five parameters, fitness levels were defined as low, below average, average, above average, and high. Comparative analysis of ball games influence on children’s fitness level revealed the highest growth rate among badminton players, though their initial and final parameters were the lowest ones. Research findings made it possible to conclude that extramural engagement in ball games throughout school year had beneficial effect on fitness levels of boys aged 10-11

THE IMPORTANCE OF MARKETING ACTIVITIES FOR THE FUNCTIONING OF THE UNIVERSITY
At a time when the number of universities is growing, taking care of the image of a university is increasingly important. Traditional methods of promotion are no longer sufficient, because nowadays the choice of a university starts not with a visit to the university, but with checking its educational offerings on the Internet. This is why, in the digital age, universities need to adapt their marketing strategy to the new realities in order to reach prospective students and stand out from the competition. Many universities are actively taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the development of information technology, appreciating the importance of branding and adapting their course. This paper attempts to identify which \u27communication pathway\u27 is most frequently used by prospective university/faculty students. The aim of the study is to determine the effectiveness of promotional activities that influence prospective students\u27 choice of university/department. The issues raised seem to be important due to the fact that radical changes in the education market have been taking place for several years now. On the one hand, there is a large supply of higher education institutions, both domestic and foreign, and on the other hand, there is a progressive demographic decline
ANALYSIS OF SYMBOLIC AI AND CONNECTIONIST AI APPROACHES
This research project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of two prominent paradigms within artificial intelligence: Symbolic AI (also known as classical AI or GOFAI - Good Old-Fashioned AI) and Connectionist AI (also known as neural network-based AI). Both approaches have played significant roles in the development of AI systems, but they differ in their underlying principles, methodologies, and applications. By comparing and contrasting these two approaches, this study seeks to provide insights into their strengths, weaknesses, and suitability for different types of AI tasks
THE CHALLENGES FOR EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN THE INCLUSION OF STUDENTS WITH LANGUAGE AND LEARNING DISABILITIES
Living in an era of transformation, changes in the educational system are inevitable. Schools are an educational, cultural and social environment that needs to be high quality, modern and inclusive. A positive experience within the process of inclusion is important not only for pupils entering a comprehensive school, but also for their parents, current pupils and teaching staff of all fields. Included pupils are pupils with language and learning disabilities who need an individual approach, a well-thought-out learning strategy, support and an understanding attitude. The aim of this paper is to theoretically identify the challenges that teachers face in the process of inclusion of pupils with language and learning disabilities. The paper analyses the theory of inclusive education, addresses the aspect of support provision for pupils and draws conclusions. Schools have been entrusted with the nationally important task of creating a cohesive, supportive and nurturing learning environment and compassionate and understanding relationships that help people grow up to be self-confident and ambitious. Only time will allow us to assess whether it was the right strategic decision to include all pupils with language and learning disabilities in comprehensive schools. Despite the challenges of special education transformation, schools have a vision for development and the will to work
FRAMING AND NARRATIVES AS ASSISTANTS IN ADVANCING A SCIENCE-ORIENTED MINDSET. THE EXAMPLE OF THE POLICE IN THE BALTICS
Country-specific knowledge offered by police science is a necessary precondition for successful policing. However, cursory data on police science in the Baltic countries raises many questions about the real use of scientific knowledge opportunities in these countries. The paper elaborates on a framework to advance a science-oriented mindset in the police. Principles of narratives and framing were used to overcome a possible conflict between scientists and practitioners, and bridge all the parties related to policing. In this framework, scientists should take the lead. External, internal, and strategic factors, as Alisson’s three key management functions, were used to specify factors of the framework in the research. The framing process that holds a focusing function allows the use of discovered narratives and presents a variety of possible future directions. Creating a metanarrative with beginning, middle, and end grasps all the agents and ties into future developments

DEVELOPMENT OF WRITING SKILLS OF STUDENTS WITH MILD OR MODERATE MENTAL DISORDERS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
The acquisition of writing skills is influenced by several factors related to a student’s physical and mental development, the environment in which they grow up and learn, as well as the attitudes of others. If any of these factors are disrupted or absent, individual work and various methods employed by special education teachers should be applied to support students with mild or moderate mental disorders in primary school classes in developing their writing skills. The research was conducted with the aim of theoretically and practically analysing the possibilities for developing the writing skills of primary school students with mild or moderate mental disorders in an educational institution that implements a program for students with these conditions. In the course of the study, findings on the acquisition of writing skills for students with mild or moderate mental disorders were analysed. The study investigated the characteristics of students with mild or moderate mental disorders in the pedagogical process and the necessary prerequisites for literacy development. It analysed literature and identified the difficulties students with mental disorders face in acquiring writing skills. Additionally, methods and techniques to support the development of these skills were deliberated, and a methodological tool for writing skill development was created. The research is based on document analysis, the evaluation of results from the use of developed methodological materials, and the analysis of interviews with teachers of five primary school students with mild or moderate mental disorders attending X Primary School, which implements special education programs. As a result of the research, it was concluded that in the modern era, less and less time is devoted to various basic skills. One such skill that the digital age has begun to replace is writing. Students lag behind in writing skills. This requires increased attention from preschool age. Special attention should be paid to the learning of writing skills for children who have mental disorders and prerequisites for the promotion of writing skills must be developed in all subjects, as well as learning should be done in a differentiated manner
