K-pop and J-pop Influences to University Students in Malang, East Java – Indonesia : A Comparative Public Diplomacy Studies
Full text linkThis paper discussing the comparison of Korean Pop Culture and Japan Pop Culture to the youth in Malang.One of the important of this research is about public diplomacy using pop culture which creating many fans and lovers. The main purpose of the research is to show how the globalization in culture has influencing the youth in developing country like Indonesia. Malang is one of the city that have many K-Pop lovers and J-Pop lovers. This research is qualitative and using depth interview to get information from the participant as the member of the pop lovers. The result shows that both Korea and Japan's government have role on their public diplomacy by using this pop culture. They are often held the events like competition on music, dance and another shape of pop culture. J-pop has more focus on the animation (anime), cartoon (manga) and costume-player (cosplay). Whereas K-pop has more focus on the drama movie and music. From observation to the pop lovers, the J-pop lovers is more creative because they have a challenge, especially for cosplay to create their own costume to the competition. But for K-pop, they are more focused to learn and imitate the dance style of the Korean artist. But, both of them have significant influence to the options for the university students in Department of International Relations, University of Muhammadiyah Malang to choose Japanese and Koreans as their subject as the third language after Bahasa Indonesia and English
Review of Sister Province between East Java Province-Indonesia and Prefecture Osaka-Japan
Full text linkThe cooperation between East Java province of Indonesia and Osaka Prefecture of Japan is one of the oldest sub-national or local government’s international cooperation in both countries. The cooperation has been growing both in scope of fields and areas. From East Java perspective, the cooperation should to be more intensive on investment and workers capabilities, while Osaka views that the increasing of human resources is important point. Both of local government agree that their cooperation is important as the back-bond of Indonesia-Japan bilateral relations, and the focus on trade and economy should to be expand. Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is one of the priority of them now. But, they also face the challenges in the infrastructure and clear information provided. The involvement of local government under provincial/prefectural level and non-government actors including universities and NGO is needed and synergized with the cooperation
The Free Press in Indonesia as Human Security?: A Preliminary Analysis
Full text linkThis paper discusses human security in the context of media threat towards the society in Indonesia. Specifically this paper seeks to explain the development of media liberalization in Indonesia and the impact on civil rights in obtaining the truth information and the quest for true and reliable information. The increasing number of top businessmen owning media companies, following political and economic liberalization has been one of the most important phenomena over the past few years. The acquisition of media companies by businessman and politicians will influence indirectly the content of news reports. Finally, some radical groups have taken advantage of the free press policy to infiltrate Indonesian moderate Muslim society. Overall, media have failed to show their responsibility and seem to be far from the ethics because they are owned by businessmen, politicians and interest groups
Masyarakat Sipil Transnasional dan Demokratisasi di Indonesia
Full text linkDemokrasi dan Masyarakat Sipil secara teoritik maupun praktik menjadi konsep-konsep yang populer di Dunia. Sedangkan Transnasional(isme) menjadi populer ketika hubungan internasional secara teoritik maupun praktik mengakomodasinya seiring kesadaran para akademisi dan praktisi tentang fenomena semakin kaburnya batas teritorial secara fisik maupun non-fisik negara bangsa yang juga populer dengan sebutan globalisasi. Indonesia adalah salah satu negara bangsa yang dikenal dengan penerapan demokrasi dalam sistem politik dan pemerintahannya bahkan klaim tersebut dilakukan sejak kemerdekaan dan pembentukannya. Dalam demokrasi di Indonesia, keberadaan dan peran masyarakat sipil juga diakui bukan saja sabagai syarat dan penanda terjadinya demokratisasi. Lebih dari itu juga berperan secara aktif untuk percepatan dalam mewujudkan demokrasi yang lebih baik. Makalah ini menganalisis tentang pencapaian demokrasi di Indonesia, masyarakat sipil transnasional Indonesia; dan mengajukan gagasan tentang memajukan demokrasi di Indonesia. Dengan mengoperasionalisasikan teori dan konsep defisit demokrasi, demokrasi transnasional, masyarakat sipil transnasional, analisis dilakukan dengan menerapkan konsep-konsep dan teori-teori tersebut secara kritis dan pendekatan kualitatif kritis untuk memahami pencapaian demokrasi, posisi dan peran masyarakat sipil transnasional dalam demokratisasi di Indonesia. Selain itu juga menggunakan unit analisis masyarakat sipil dengan level analisis global, dan dengan fokus pada kasus demokratisasi di Indonesia sebagai konteks analisis
Strategi Organisasi Perempuan Anti Trafficking Apne Aap dalam Penanggulangan Isu Perdagangan Manusia Di India
Full text linkoai:ojs.ajis.fisip.unand.ac.id:article/31This research attempts to analyze strategy and effort undertaken by an anti-trafficking NGO called Apne Aap on addressing human trafficking issue in India. The most crucial thing in this analyzing is to figure out the meaning contained behind those strategy and effort. This research puts three main concepts; strategy of Korten NGO generation, human trafficking, and women interests. The observed knowledge is produced by applying feminist methodology. The finding of this research shows that the strategies of Apne Aap tend to address the problem in society particularly the beneficiaries Apne Aap. The meaning found is the fundamental change ideologically for women group in India. It is not merely on how the number of human trafficking decline, moreover the verily fundamental change is on how woman can maximize whole potential on herself thus it can generate high independency and self-confidence to express her group and personal interests. This will also allow them to be free from any oppression and discrimination, including human trafficking

Tonggak sejarah yang menandai menguatnya kesadaran bangsa dan negara Indonesia dalam memandang diaspora ditunjukkan dengan terselenggaranya Congress of Indonesian Diaspora (CID) pada Juli 2012 di Los Angeles Amerika Serikat. Artikel ini berusaha menelaah lebih mendalam tentang konsep diaspora Indonesia berikut kebijakan pengelolaannya untuk kepentingan ekonomi, politik, sosial dan budaya Indonesia dengan cerminan kebijakan Cina dan India yang telah berhasil melaksanakannya. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa CID adalah pintu gerbang sekaligus momentum yang dapat digunakan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat Indonesia yang berserakan di berbagai belahan dunia
