Connecticut General Assembly Legislative Internship
During the 2024 Legislative Session, I was fortunate to be a part of the Connecticut General Assembly (CGA) Legislative Internship Program. As part of the program, I was assigned to intern for Senator Christine Cohen, the Co-Chair of the Transportation Committee. The internship program was structured around consistent academic assignments throughout the session, with objectives to familiarize interns with state research and database resources, guide us through tracking a bill\u27s journey to becoming law, expose us to different careers in state government, teach us how to write impactful testimony, refine our summarization skills, and ultimately, enable us to convey messages in a concise and professional manner. When I applied for and subsequently accepted the internship program offer, I went in with the goal of understanding from the ground level how state legislatures function, how legislators work to address the various needs of their constituents, and to see transportation legislation passed to improve the lives of Connecticut residents. The program’s immaculate administration of academic assignments, educational sessions/training, and day-to-day practical tasks and opportunities within the Connecticut General Assembly Legislative Internship Program made it a truly valuable experience and helped me meet and surpass my goals for the internship
Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Program
I pursued certifications in Adult, Child, and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED through the American Red Cross to advance my role at Cape Cod Hospital and enable me to transition from urgent care into the ER. While I appreciated my work in urgent care, I wanted more direct involvement in patient care, and these certifications were a necessary step. With them, I was able to take on the role of Clinical Patient Access Representative, allowing me to triage patients, identify urgent situations, and perform life-saving measures while waiting for clinical staff. The training, though largely a review of my existing EMT skills, gave me the formal qualifications to take on more responsibility and actively contribute in the fast-paced ER environment. It also opened the door for potential future opportunities, such as connecting with the hospital’s psychology department or exploring clinical work further
