University of Nevada Psych Lab Intern
This summer internship was driven by a desire to explore potential career paths, particularly between healthcare and research. In order to get a firsthand experience, I scoped out opportunities in university research labs at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), and the University of California, Riverside (UCR). After a period of networking and preparation, I accepted an opportunity at Dr. Fang Jiang’s psychology lab at UNR, where I immersed myself in the research environment alongside graduate students. This internship contributed to develop further my skills in communication, organization, and leadership, and better understand the demands of graduate-level research. I led study protocols, conducted literature reviews, and gained valuable insights into the research process. This opportunity reinforced my interest in research while providing essential skills for my future career decisions
Medical Assistant experience in Spain
This paper examines my summer experience taking a medical assistant course and interning in a hospital, focusing on the insights gained as a pre-med student. Motivated by recommendations from peers, I enrolled in the US Career Institute\u27s online, self-paced course to acquire practical skills in patient care, medical terminology, and clinical procedures. This foundational knowledge was further reinforced during my internship in a Spanish hospital, where I engaged closely with healthcare professionals in various departments, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The reflection highlights the essential skills developed throughout this journey—time management, communication, critical thinking, and empathy—and discusses how my liberal arts education has equipped me to approach medical challenges holistically. The experience solidified my passion for medicine, clarified my aspirations in critical care, and shaped my future learning objectives, including further clinical training and certifications. Ultimately, the combination of coursework and hands-on practice has profoundly impacted my understanding of healthcare dynamics and my commitment to becoming a compassionate physician

Winery and Cellar Internship at Weingüter Kühling-Gillot & Battenfeld-Spanier
During my internship at Weingüter Kühling-Gillot Battenfeld-Spanier, I gained hands-on experience in cellar work, shipping, and vineyard management while also assisting with events. Working closely with the winemaker and cellar master, I learned how to prepare and maintain wine barrels, assist with bottling, and manage vineyard tasks like leaf pulling and vine tying. This experience not only deepened my understanding of viticulture and wine production but also fostered my personal growth, independence, and professional connections in the German wine industry
Triumvirate Environmental Inc.
In January 2024, I began my search for internships. Using Connecticut College\u27s Handshake platform and connecting with alumni, I discovered a virtual information session with Triumvirate Environmental Inc. After interviews with alumni who worked there as well as the company itself, I received an internship offer. This role marked the first internship at their Astoria location, presenting a learning curve for the company and myself. Initially, I felt unfulfilled, primarily performing physical labor while the full-time employees handled administrative tasks. Encouraged by my parents and peers to ask questions and put myself out there, I overcame my hesitation, leading to a deeper understanding of my responsibilities, including regulatory compliance for hazardous waste management. Despite some challenges, I found value in exploring diverse environments and gained insights into industry regulations. Ultimately, while I am still determining a long-term career in this field, the experience enriched my knowledge and skills, both of the importance of environmental health and safety across industries and the relationships developed with my colleagues
