    No full text
This summer was one of the most formative experiences of my life, both personally and professionally. I had the privilege of combining two opportunities that not only deepened my academic growth but also clarified the trajectory of my career in medicine. On one hand, I engaged in meaningful research on preventing child abuse, a topic that continues to demand urgent attention from the medical and social fields alike. On the other, I served as a medical assistant in a clinic dedicated to caring for an underrepresented community, where I worked directly with Black adult patients managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Both experiences challenged me intellectually, strengthened my compassion, and, most importantly, reinforced my conviction that I want to pursue a career as a cardiologist

My work at BRCH for the summer of 2025 marked my second year at the clinic, working in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Units. Within the framework of the supervision, I got to experience multiple aspects of daily lives of healthcare providers: from shadowing them during planned surgeries, to attending weekly departmental conferences and analyzing medical histories, I can say with confidence that I got significant, well-rounded insights into the working environment of the hospital. In this paper, I reflect on my general experience and highlight key takeaways from the program
