Summer Science Research Institute: Student Researcher
This summer I had the opportunity to be a part of Connecticut College’s Summer Science Research Institute. This program allows college students to get real world research experience while working with accomplished scientists. It also allows for networking with the other future scientists in the program through weekly colloquiums. In these colloquiums each lab presents their research, so we all know what the others are working on. In this program I worked under Professor Taegan McMahon, with 3 other students. We conducted research about Batrocochytrium dendrobatidis, an infectious fungus that is detrimental to amphibian populations
Department Of Defense
This reflection paper explores my summer internship experience at the Department of Defense, where I worked in a secure, structured government environment that challenged my technical skills, discipline, and adaptability. As a senior Computer Science major, the internship provided me with a firsthand look into the professional expectations and constraints of working in a federal setting. It pushed me to develop deeper patience, communication skills, and long-term thinking. The experience also shaped my academic and career path, influencing my decision to pursue a master’s degree in data analytics and to eventually return to government work. Beyond technical exposure, the paper highlights the personal growth and self-reflection that occurred while living independently in Troy, New York, and how the quiet, disciplined setting gave me time and space to re-evaluate my goals and identity. This paper focuses on the process and internal development, rather than technical deliverables, capturing how this internship became a pivotal turning point in my academic and professional journey
2025 Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Leerink Partners: M&A Group
During my junior summer (2025), I interned at Leerink Partners in NYC as an investment banking summer analyst. Leerink focuses exclusively on advising healthcare companies, and I interned within the M&A group that covers large-cap pharmaceutical companies. During the summer, I gained experience in biopharma deals across oncology, immunology, and rare diseases, and was able to hold pen on a deal model used in senior internal discussions and client deliverables
Pediatric Speech Language Pathology Internship at Play and Grow Speech Therapy
Having the opportunity to engage in an internship this summer left me feeling more inspired and fulfilled than I could have imagined. Before this internship, I did not know a lot about the field of Speech Pathology, but I found it intriguing and an applicable field for my future career. This internship allowed me to gain hands-on and direct experience within the pediatric and educational sides of the field and further integrated me into the behind-the-scenes work of an SLP. During the speech therapy sessions, I was exposed to a multitude of cognitive, developmental, and motor disorders among the clients, which broadened my understanding of disabilities among children. I learned to use a variety of talking aids, such as iPads with talking software, which I used to communicate with non-verbal patients, as well as learned basic ASL to use during the sessions to communicate with those on the Autism spectrum and to further emphasize words that are critical for children\u27s development. In terms of more professional development skills, I believe that this internship enhanced my communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. For all of the learning advantages and reasons above, I would definitely choose this experience again if I had to go back. It truly was more than I could have asked for in terms of hands-on experience and professional growth, as well as aiding in my future career goal planning
Career Action Program Reflection - My Colonial Summer
This summer, I spent the month of July working as a Residential Teaching Assistant (RTA) at the College of William & Mary with the National Institute of American History & Democracy. This program, a three-week pre-college program for high schoolers interested in American History, offered students the opportunity to experience what it was like to be a college student and learn about history through lectures and site visits to relevant historical sites around Virginia. As an RTA, I lived with the students in the dorm, organized activities for them to do outside of the classroom, and went with them to the sites to further assist in their learning. I also assisted in office hours to which students could come looking for support in anything ranging from essay writing to college-level reading to applying to college
The Value of an Oral Surgery Internship
The summer before my senior year at Connecticut College, I worked as an Oral Surgery Assistant. There, I gained hands-on experience in the dental field, stories to use in dental school applications and interviews, and lessons about myself that I did not know before starting
