Platinum Physical Therapy
Each day there was a mix of appointment types, as well as patients. Some appointments were first time patients getting evaluations, some were follow-up appointments, while others were discharges. This allowed me to get a good feel for how a PTs day would be, and I got to understand the flow of their schedules quite well. For each appointment I would observe the goings on, as well as interact with the patient to get to them, their injury, and their treatment plan thus far
Dental Assisting Program at Boston University
This past summer I completed the Dental Assisting Program at the Boston University Dental School supported by the career office funding. During this time I gained certifications with Infection Prevention and Control, Radiology, and Basic Life Support. During this time there were lectures that helped us to prepare for the National Entry Level Dental Assistant Exam. I also was prepared with the practical skills, where I learned assisting in multiple types of procedures, and assisted in different specialties. This opportunity not only helped me confirm my interest in the dental field, but also gave me mentorship with people in the dental world to help me in my future endeavors

Innova PA shadowing
This summer I had the opportunity to shadow a PA in orthopedics, an experience which helped me gain better insight for a potential career. Shadowing allowed me to witness first hand the patient centered approach that characterize the PA profession. I observed a wide range of cases and gained a lot of experience in medical terminology. While initially overwhelmed by the pace and difficulty of seeing patients in pain I grew more comfortable as I recognized how the doctors do their testing to diagnose a patient. his experience strengthened my skills in observation, communication, and critical thinking, while also showing me the value of integrating my background in neuroscience, economics, and liberal arts into healthcare. Ultimately, shadowing reinforced my passion for becoming a PA and inspired me to further explore specialties such as orthopedics and dermatology
