P1_3 Sort it out, Scotty!
In this paper, we calculated a length contraction of 290 m (2.s.f) to 250 m (2.s.f) and a time dilation of 4000 s (2.s.f) to 4600 s (2.s.f) for the starship, the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701). The starship is from the original 1960s Star Trek series and modelled to be travelling at half the speed of light from Jupiter back to Earth. The observer is standing on Mars and is watching the starship moving towards Earth for repairs

We calculate the plausibility of a method of propulsion for space travel at relativistic velocities. This propulsion utilises the momentum from photons produced through particle-antiparticle annihilation. We outline the key physics involved in this method of propulsion and determine that it is physical unfeasible. We calculate that a mass of 201,000kg of 22Mg is required to produce enough positrons to annihilate into photons to accelerate a 10kg spacecraft up to 0.5c

This paper aims to determine the angular velocity required of a earth-mass globe, situated at the center of the earth and spinning in the same orientation as the earth, to slow the earth's rotation by one hour. This new 25 hour day would necessitate an angular velocity of rads/s. An explorer spinning the globe along the equator would need to move their hand at a tangential velocity of ms\textsuperscript{-1}
A5_9 Falling in the Rain
The goal of this paper was to investigate what effects rain might have on the terminal velocity of a person. By considering the exchange of momentum from collisions with raindrops and the increase of mass due to wet clothes, it was found that falling in the rain increased a persons terminal velocity by 0.8
A2_5 Can Babies Kill
In this paper, we investigate the killing power of a babies scream and how the number of babies effects the killing power. We compare the decibels generated by the scream of individual and a group of babies, to the decibels needed to cause damage/kill a human, for a range of distances. We find that a huge number of babies are needed to maim/kill a human, with about 4 × 10^7 babies, at close proximity, are required to start to cause fatalities. 10^9 babies is found to cause fatalities, up to 10 m away

This paper will find that the number of helium balloons required to lift Carl’s house is around 456, 000 by using displacement and Archimedes’ Principle, therefore requiring over 20 times the amount of helium in Earth’s atmosphere. Continuing from this, the suggestion of using 423, 000 hydrogen balloons is made, as the synthesis of hydrogen via electrolysis of water could provide the 48,000 m3 of the gas
P1_1 Hollywood Sign Illuminations: Is it Worth the Money?
In this paper, an investigation is conducted as to whether it is financially viable for the famous Hollywood sign in California to be lit up by Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) for 12 hours. By estimating the surface area of the Hollywood sign, we calculated the number of LEDs required to fully cover the sign and the power of each LED. We estimated the cost to illuminate the Hollywood sign for 12 hours to be approximately $11,000 (2s.f.). Therefore, we think it is financially viable to illuminate the Hollywood sign for a single event. However, considering installation and maintenance costs we do not think this would be a financially viable project for long term use
A New Keyword in the Museum: Exhibiting the Anthropocene
Since 2000, the concept of the Anthropocene has moved from its geologic field of origin into numerous other academic disciplines and into the world of museums. Based on journal papers, exhibition reviews and online material, this paper describes 41 exhibitions about the Anthropocene, analyzes how museums and galleries understand the Anthropocene, and how they use exhibition media as well as their authority as museums in dealing with this topic. It is argued that exhibitions generally display the Anthropocene as an unsettled category. Audiences are presented with complex factual accounts and highly emotional images of the past and the future. They are invited to reflect upon the Anthropocene not as a well-defined issue but as heritage in the sense of ‘transformable practices’ (Harrison 2015: 34). However, most exhibitions appear to deliberately exclude significant controversies about the Anthropocene and the predicament of the world from their arenas for reflection
Object Biographies and Museums: 100 X Congo in Antwerp, Exhibition at the Museum aan de Stroom, Antwerp, Belgium, 3 October 2020 - 12 September 2021
The Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) in Antwerp, Belgium, opened the doors of its long-anticipated exhibition, 100 X Congo, on 3 October 2020, highlighting the presence of a Congolese art collection that has been owned by the city for a hundred years (1920-2020). Tackling the often uneasy history of how these things ended up in museums in the colonial ‘motherland’, this exhibition signals a step forwards in museology in Belgium, away from mere aestheticism of Congolese and, by extension, African arts, towards, in contrast, a focus on provenance, context and cultural importance

In this paper it is explored whether or not the food items available to eat in the Nintendo game ’Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ contain enough energy for the character to be able to dig a tree out of the ground, assuming that they already have the muscle mass to do so. It is found that the total work done to lift the tree out of the ground is 18.63kJ, meaning that each variety of food within the game are able to provide enough energy to lift the tree
