    Get PDF
This study introduces a Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR) app that allows women to explore, choose, and try on hijabs at their leisure. In addition, a study of perception and acceptance was also conducted among a sample of respondents who have used the app. Hijab shopping in the traditional sense requires users to come a retail shop to choose and try on the hijab. This type of shopping necessitates the shoppers' time and effort. Meanwhile, while purchasing for a hijab online, customers may only rely on the sizing chart and photographs to make their decision. These methods are not really precise or interactive enough to help buyers make the best decision. As a result, a new approach to trying on hijabs anywhere and anytime is required. This study proposes the Virtual Hijab Try-on (VHT) app, which employs MAR as the primary technology and Multimedia as the supporting technology to examine users' perceptions and acceptance based on perceived augmentation, enjoyment, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards use, and intention to use. The aim of this article is to assess if Augmented Reality (AR) is attractive to consumers and in which areas it can create the most value. Hence, we have sought to identify the most useful areas of AR applications, as well as factors influencing augmented reality’s attractiveness. This study has adapted a research methodology consisting of five phases from Vaishnavi and Kuechler. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was applied as the underpinning theory for this study. The study incorporates the VHT app and constructivist theory to measure user acceptance and validate the new MAR acceptance model. The results showed that all of the measurements were strongly agreed upon by the users and these reflect the high level of users’ acceptance towards the use of the VHT app. The phase starts with the planning process involving the definition of the scope of the research and the identification of the target users. It continues with the establishment of the research constraints whereby it is a systematic approach to overcome any limitations pertaining to the research. The findings revealed that users rated perceived augmentation, enjoyment, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude touse, and intention to use in the category of strongly agreed. The TAM was found to be a good theoretical tool for understanding users' acceptance of the app, based on the results of structural equation modelling. Enjoyment and perceived augmentation positively influence users’ acceptance of the app. Furthermore, we found a gap between the supply and needs of customers in terms of types of AR application offered on the market. We identified advantages and disadvantages of AR applications over their traditional counterparts impacting its adoption besides Enjoyment and perceived augmentation positively influence users’ acceptance of the app. The study's key contribution is the research model which proves the vigorous establishment of the TAM. The results indicate that the TAM is a viable model for understanding users' acceptance of a technology like the VHT app. Besides that, enjoyment and perceived augmentation have positive influence on users’ acceptance of the VHT app. Thus, when designing and developing try-on app, factors that include enjoyment and perceived augmentation have to be incorporated into the app which are crucial to improve the acceptance of the tool

Talaq out-of-court is classified as matrimonial offence based on Section 57 of the Islamic Family Law (Kedah Darul Aman) Enactment 2008.While Section 124 of the same enactment provides the penalty for talaq pronounced out-of-court. However, the control methods for this offence are inadequate, and law enforcement is still ineffective in the state of Kedah. Conversely, in states such as Kelantan, Penang and Sabah, the control methods and enforcement are more stringent for the same offence. This study aims to examine the concept of syariah law related to the method of pronouncing divorce, examine the provisions of the law related to the procedure and punishment of out-of-court divorce, analyse the judgment of out-of-court divorce cases decided in Malaysia and propose a comprehensive legal framework for divorce. The research method used is socio-legal where the researcher carried out field study in addition to examining the text of legal cases and law enforcement in courts. This study, which is qualitative in nature, also conducted interviews with respondents, particularly in Kedah, Kelantan, Penang and Sabah. The study found that the driving factors for the husband's action of pronouncing talaq outside the Court is uncontrollable ego and anger, as well as a lack of understanding of the law and Islamic education. To deal with this problem comprehensively, this study proposes the repeal of Section 57 of the Islamic Family Law (Kedah Darul Aman) Enactment 2008. The repeal is imperative to protect women's rights by controlling out-of-court talaq from occurring widely. The study also suggests the implementation and effectiveness of case control by creating integrated cooperation between the Syariah Court, Prosecution Division, Enforcement Division and Marriage, Divorce and Referral Division (Nikah, Cerai dan Rujuk) (NCR) in the Kedah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIK). Confirmation of out-of-court talaq cases starts from the stages of investigation, prosecution, penalties imposed, payment of punishment until the Court confirms the talaq. Besides, the Syariah Court’s jurisdiction in substantive law needs to be modified as this study found that most outof- court talaq cases in 2021 involve new methods such as talaq through cyberspace and the application of technology tools. The study's findings imply that Malaysia can create a comprehensive talaq legal framework

With a population of around 43 million, Algeria is one of the biggest franchising markets in the world in terms of new business opportunities. However, the absence of specific franchise law in the disclosure documents, registration and financial aspects impacts the development of franchise business in Algeria. Therefore, the objectives of the thesis are to examine the legal framework relating to disclosure, registration and financial matters of franchises in Algeria; to analyse the current practice of the stakeholders in Algeria; to analyse the laws relating to franchising in the disclosure, registration and financial in Tunisia, South Africa and Malaysia; and to recommend a model of law to improve franchising in Algeria. By adopting a doctrinal legal method, this thesis critically examines legal issues in franchising in Algeria relating to disclosure, registration, and financial aspects. It employs the interpretive doctrinal technique and the thematic analysis in analysing the legal materials and the interview data. The thesis also examines and compares franchising laws in other countries, particularly Tunisia, South Africa and Malaysia, as a guide for a model of laws to Algeria. The data collection was through the library-based approach and 12 semi-structured interviews with selected stakeholders from the franchising field. The study discovered several findings: there is an absence of a specific law governing the registration of the franchise business, and no obligation to provide disclosure documents and financial obstacles that prevents franchising development in Algeria. Hence, there is a requirement to establish a specific law to regulate franchises in Algeria. This law should stipulate the obligation of submitting disclosure documents, stipulates the registering of franchising, and allows the payment of royalties and fees abroad. The thesis also found that the Malaysian Franchise Act 1998 provides more details on the registration process, and Tunisian law provides the most comprehensive list of information required for disclosure. To facilitate royalty transfers in franchising, Algeria should follow the two systems of South Africa and Tunisia. Subsequently, the study recommends a model of law through the combination of the franchise laws of the three examined legal systems, Tunisia, South Africa, and Malaysia

Supplier selection is a very important activity in construction supply chain, especially in Industrialised Building System (IBS) where most building components are not produced at the construction site. There is a need for accurate decisions in selecting suppliers, because inaccurate selection can cause serious construction problems such as project delays and cost overruns. With the availability of varied criteria and many suppliers, the process of selecting suppliers for specific project needs becomes more difficult. Until now, a systematic approach to selecting the correct IBS supplier is largely neglected in the literature. This highlights the need for aided decision making tool for correct supplier selection by using a decision support system (DSS). This research aimed to develop a DSS, namely myib3s, to resolve the identified issues. Specifically, the research objectives are to identify criteria for selecting IBS supplier, next is to develop multi-criteria DSS for IBS supplier selection, then to evaluate the utility and usability of the developed DSS. It was developed by integrating user interface and supplier database, with the fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (fuzzy TOPSIS) model, using the .NET platform. Data from two IBS construction projects in Malaysia were used for validation and demonstrated the usability of the developed DSS. The findings indicated a comparable result of myib3s with current practice. In addition, it also presented a new framework for next-generation-DSS using .NET platform. By leveraging latest technology, the DSS produced in this study is applicable to any Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) or related mathematical modelling technique. In the practical sense, this DSS can also be used as a guideline for practitioners towards the betterment of IBS supplier selection by introducing an innovative decision making approach that can minimise time, risk, and also lead to effective management of IBS projects

Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurs (SMEs) need to be prepared for external challenges that are mostly beyond their control. They need to improve their internal strength by optimizing their work processes. However, this can only be effective if employees innovate to improve their work. Centrally stored data is beneficial to a company because cloud technology facilitates the work of human resource (HR) employees and increases the efficiency of the HR department. Despite the growing interest in using human resources management systems (HRMS) in various companies, there are limited empirical studies on cloud-based HRMS and employees‘ innovative behavior in Jordan SMEs. This study investigates factors impacting SME employees' intention to adopt a cloud-based HRMS and the moderating role of leadership support. Data gathered from 336 employees of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) SMEs in Jordan were analyzed using Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modelling via SmartPLS3.0. The results show that technological factors have a significant impact on employees' intention to adopt cloud-based HRMS. In addition, employees' curiosity affects their intention and innovative behavior towards cloud-based HRMS. Further analysis reveals that leadership support moderates the relationship between employees' intention to adopt a cloud-based HRMS and innovative behavior. Employees with higher level of curiosity are better lateral thinkers, which helps them to perform innovative tasks. SMEs should emphasize leadership support to foster the development of creative ideas among employees. It paves the way for implementing these ideas through innovative actions, gaining new knowledge, and putting this knowledge into practice. This leads to optimistic, confident experiences and personal growth in the workplace. In terms of theoretical contributions, this study applied Theory of Planned Behavior as an underpinning theory and Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Self-determination Theory, and Path-Goal Theory as supporting theories in the proposed framework

In Malaysia, fisheries technology has been used for decades and has effectively replaced some traditional fishing methods in the fisheries sector. The evolution of fisheries technology has changed how fishermen catch and process fish in their daily routines. However, within the fisheries sector, the Zone A fishermen's community is still facing marginalisation in the current progress and development of science and technology. They are often associated with low-income status and are among the lower-income B40 groups of individuals. This study investigated the assimilation of fisheries technology into the economic improvement of B40 fishermen in the northern region of Malaysia, namely Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, and the northern part of Perak. This is a qualitative study that uses secondary data references as well as primary data obtained through the use of purposive sampling and snowball sampling methods to obtain data from respondents throughout the interview session. Based on the results of the interviews in four states, thematic analysis was used in this study to interpret and investigate the themes that emerged from the interpretation of the text transcripts of interviews with respondents. The findings of this research have achieved the objective by forming themes based on three research objectives, which are the basis for the problem statement in this research. In the final part of this study, a model was proposed for the assimilation of fisheries technology among B40 fishermen in states in the northern part of Malaysia. Five elements are featured within this model of the assimilation of fisheries technology: technology, financial, government support, human capital development, and resource controller elements. This model can assist the government in formulating fisheries policies. Therefore, this model can be enhanced and validated by future researchers in different fields and scopes

    No full text
Mobile training is still at an early stage of implementation and adoption in the public sector of the United Arab Emirates. The success of transitioning to a mobile training system depends on user support, acceptance, and the decision to embrace mobile training. This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the intention to use and support the shift towards mobile training within the Sharjah Police General Command in the UAE. The study employs the third version of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT3) as its theoretical basis, given its flexibility in adopting multi-level models. The proposed conceptual framework includes Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Influence (SI), Individual Beliefs (attitude) (IB), Mobile Training Infrastructure (MTI), Training Unit Professionalism (TUP), Management Support (MS), Facilities Condition (FC), Technology Habits (TH), Legacy System Habits (LSH), Habits (HA), Intention to Use Mobile Training (IUMT), and support to change to mobile training (SCMT). The study employs quantitative methods, using primary data collected through a well-structured questionnaire. The target population comprises all staff member of the General Department of Sharjah Police in the Emirate of Sharjah, totaling 7,715 employees. A sample size of 367 individuals was selected using a quota sampling technique. Ultimately, data from 373 respondents across 19 different departments were included in the final dataset. The study investigates 18 different hypotheses. Based on the path coefficient, the results indicate that individual belief has the highest impact on the intention to use mobile training (0.464), followed by facilitating conditions (0.260), and habit (0.252). Regarding the predictors of support for change to mobile training, the intention to use mobile training has the most significant impact (0.711), followed by individual belief (0.099). The results also reveal that facilities conditions (FC) and habit (HA) do not have a significant impact on support for change to mobile training (SCMT). The findings of this thesis suggest that attitude has the highest impact, followed by facilitating conditions; therefore, policymakers should promote performance and effort expectancy, in addition to social influence. Future research could explore the rejected relationships between habit and facilitating conditions, as well as replicating the proposed model in different contexts

Poverty is a serious socio-economic issue faced by the world. Despite decades of efforts that have been made to reduce poverty, in reality, Malaysia has yet to break free from the issue of poverty. Kelantan and Kedah have been identified as having the highest poverty incidence in Peninsular Malaysia. Most of the past research has focused on developing Poverty Index (PI) at the federal and state-level which does not really reflect the actual situation in district-level. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a PI for the 12 districts in Kedah. Since the PI value is bounded to 0 and 1, hence the beta regression model was fitted to investigate the relationship between main indicators and sub-indicators of PI. Poverty indicators weight has been computed by aggregating subjective and objective weights using Rank Order Centroid (ROC) and CRiteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) methods respectively. Hence, PI has been developed by using Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. From the results of PI, beta regression analysis was applied to investigate the relationship between main indicators and subindicators of PI. The result shows the most important indicator of poverty is occupation. It is also found that Kuala Muda and Sik have the highest PI value for poor and hardcore poor categories respectively. Finally, there is a positive relationship between the main indicators and sub-indicators of PI. The developed PI can be used by relevant authorities to provide related initiatives that could help poor people enhance their economic productivity for the betterment of their lives
