Cholera outbreaks in Chegutu, Zimbabwe: unravelling the influence of community factors
Past studies showed that there were environmental factors related to cholera outbreaks, but less work focused on the community’s knowledge, experiences, and hygiene practices in spreading cholera. The objectives of this study were to (1) identify the Chegutu community's knowledge, experiences, and hygiene practises; (2) determine the significant differences between the Chegutu community's background on knowledge, experiences, and hygiene practises related to cholera; (3) analyse the factors of knowledge, experiences, and hygiene practises leading to cholera outbreaks; and (4) develop a comprehensive model for the prevention of cholera outbreaks in the Chegutu community. A total of 383 respondents from the Chegutu community of Zimbabwe participated in this study’s survey. The descriptive analysis found that the level of knowledge and hygiene practices to prevent cholera were low among the Chegutu community. Most respondents (80%) experienced cholera symptoms and had neighbours who also experienced the same. The ANOVA analysis showed that the community’s backgrounds (education level, marital status, income, water source, and residential area) and hygiene practices in contributing to the cholera cases were significant. On hygiene practices, it was found that washing hands after handling waste or garbage bins was a significant factor. Risky practices to cholera outbreaks were no handwashing before preparing food (2%), no hand washing after using the toilet (2%), no fruit washing (19 %) and not boiling untreated water (19%). Theoretically, this study contributed to the use of The Knowledge, Experiences and Hygiene Practices Model in studying the context of the Chegutu community’s background in contributing to the outbreak of cholera. From a practical point of view, the findings from this study contributed to the prevention model built for future epidemic prevention recommendations, where the community needs improvement in the aspects of knowledge, experience, and hygiene practices. Cholera prevention, control, and elimination in communities like Chegutu should be aided by the promotion and facilitation of access to adequate water supply, awareness, application of new models discovered during the study period, improving health infrastructure, and ensuring that the community's experience is used to avoid disease outbreaks
Analisis dimensi amalan etika profesi pejabat imigrasi dalam pelayanan keimigrasian di Indonesia
Based on Constitution Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning immigration, immigration officials constitute a profession that undergoes specialized education and training. Under the aegis of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the responsibilities and functions of these officials encompass immigration services, enforcement of immigration laws, ensuring state security, promoting community welfare and acting as facilitators. Given the extensive range of duties performed by the Immigration Officers, the potential for ethical violations cannot be entirely ruled out. Despite the implementation of moral and ethical standards within this organization, numerous ethical infringements, particularly in the service sector, continue to erode public trust in the integrity of immigration officials. Personal interests, conflicts of interest and overlapping decisions are among the ethical infractions that persistently occur today. This study investigates the dimensions of ethical practices among immigration officials using a professional approach and mixed methods. Quantitative data were collected from a sample of 782 respondents across seven selected immigration offices. These include five TPI Class I Immigration Offices located in Medan, Batam, Surabaya, Soekarno Hatta Banten, Ngurah Rai Bali and two non-TPI Class I Immigration Offices located in West Jakarta and South Jakarta. The data analysis employed both quantitative and qualitative methods (mixed-methods). The study focused on dimensions such as individual factors, organizational factors, ethical orientation, moral intensity and religiosity. The findings reveal that organizational factors play the most significant role in influencing the ethical decisions made by immigration officials in Indonesia. This result contrasts with a previous study conducted in Malaysia related to the dimensions of professional ethics practice which found that the dimension of religiosity had the most substantial impact on professional ethics within an organization

The study highlights the importance of prioritizing follower interaction to positively influence public perception. It also emphasizes the strategic importance of advanced social media management tools in enhancing the performance of organizational media in the digital landscape. Effective media management and communication techniques are essential for developing favorable public perceptions and promoting organizational success in today's dynamic media environment. The researcher concludes that organizational media performance partially mediates the relationship between social media management and public perception, with significant indirect effects observed for all factors except for social communication goals, use of multiple platforms, and follower interaction
