The influence of perceived organizational support, ethnocultural empathy dimensions, and trust in organization towards organizational citizenship behaviour dimensions among public servants in Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara, Sabah
The literature on organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) has demonstrated that it benefits to organizations and employees’ welfare. Thus, it is important to understand the factors that drive OCB to increase employees’ engagement in an organization. Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) is one of the public agencies that aims to provide citizen-centric in its services therefore, it is crucial for its employees to exhibit OCB due to its services to meet societal demands and requirements. Nonetheless, enhancing efficiency in service delivery remains an ongoing challenge among public servants. The objective of this study is to examine perceived organizational support (POS), ethnocultural empathy and trust in organization as the antecedents of OCB among public servants in Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) Sabah. Cluster sampling was used to select 213 respondents representing JPN’s public servants, with 11 out of 25 districts in Sabah were chosen in this study. A set of questionnaires (The Survey of Perceived Organizational Support- SPOS, the Scale of Ethnocultural Empathy- SEE, Robinson’s Trust in Organization, Lee and Allen’s Organizational Citizenship Behaviour Scale) were employed to measure the variables of this study. The results revealed a significant effect of POS on OCB-Organization and trust in organization but, there was no significant effect on OCB-Individual. The finding also indicated that the dimension of ethnocultural empathy (empathic feeling and empathic awareness) significantly influenced the OCB dimensions. This supports the suitability of Organizational Support Theory (OST) and Batson’s Empathy-altruism Hypothesis in explaining the study’s model. The relationships between POS, trust in the organization, and OCB as guided by the Social Exchange Theory (SET), providing new perspective into social exchange processes, particularly among employees in public organizations. The study led to empathy guidelines based on the JPN code of ethics, recommending broader application of ethnocultural empathy in diverse and multi-ethnic organization

The influence of instructional leadership of principal on teachers’ effectiveness mediated by capacity building in Nigeria
The efficacy of teaching and learning, and thus the attainment of quality education, is contingent upon the effectiveness of educators. The extent of teaches’ effectiveness in performing their duties relies upon their knowledge, skills and support from principal leadership. This research delves into examining the impact of instructional leadership on the effectiveness of teachers, with a particular focus on the mediating role of capacity building. To attain the objectives of the study, a mixed-method approach was employed. A quantitative investigation was conducted using a survey research design, involving 389 teachers from senior secondary schools in the North Central region of Nigeria. For qualitative insights, in-depth interviews were conducted with 27 participants, comprising 18 teachers and 9 principals. Quantitative data underwent analysis using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), while qualitative data obtained from interviews were analyzed through thematic analysis using NVIVO software. Instrument reliability was established via Cronbach’s Alpha values, and the measurement model was assessed for content, convergent, and discriminant validities. The PLS-SEM results revealed that a positive and significant relationship exists between principal instructional leadership and teacher effectiveness. In terms of the mediating effect of capacity building, the results showed that capacity building programs significantly mediate the relationship between principal instructional leadership and teacher effectiveness. The findings were supported with the interview data, which showed that knowledge transfer, collaboration among teachers, shared vision and innovation were integral elements of capacity building programs that influence teacher effectiveness. The study emphasizes the crucial role of instructional leadership by principals and highlights its significant impact on enhancing teacher effectiveness. Additionally, the importance of capacity building programs is underscored. In essence, the research contributes to the integration of instructional leadership models and human resource theory for a more comprehensive understanding of factors influencing teacher effectiveness

The data gathered from remote-working personnel in Malaysian manufacturing through a cross-sectional survey is analysed using a descriptive study design. To ensure a robust statistical analysis, a sample size of at least 100 individuals is selected using simple random selection. The research aims are reflected in the questionnaire design, which focuses on demographic data and employee attitudes towards work-life balance, preventive maintenance, wellbeing, flexibility in the workplace, and aspirations about prevention activities. Cronbach's alpha is used to evaluate data reliability, guaranteeing the quality and internal consistency of the information gathered. To test hypotheses and come to relevant conclusions, data analysis techniques including regression analysis, correlation analysis, and descriptive statistics are performed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The study presents a detailed examination of factors influencing employees' intention to engage in preventive maintenance activities in Malaysian manufacturing settings
