Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi belia felda menceburi bidang keusahawanan: kajian kes di Felda Negeri Perlis
The participation of youth in various entrepreneurship programs, especially those conducted in FELDA schemes, has received less than satisfactory response. Hence, this study aims to examine the readiness of youth in FELDA communities, particularly in the state of Perlis, to venture into entrepreneurship. The objectives of the study are to identify the level of interest among FELDA youth in Perlis in entrepreneurship, analyze the perception of FELDA youth in Perlis regarding entrepreneurship, and determine the level of parental encouragement for FELDA youth in Perlis to engage in entrepreneurship. This study utilizes a qualitative method approach, employing semi-structured interviews with 10 FELDA youth in Perlis and focus group discussions with another 10 FELDA youth in Perlis to explore the perspectives, experiences, and perceptions of FELDA youth regarding entrepreneurship. Quantitative methods are also employed to gather statistical data on demographic characteristics, educational backgrounds, and economic factors that may affect the involvement of FELDA youth in entrepreneurship. The study findings reveal that 60% of respondents have a high interest in venturing into entrepreneurship, 60% of respondents hold very positive views about the idea of FELDA youth entering entrepreneurship, and 80% of respondents agree that most FELDA parents consistently encourage their young ones to pursue entrepreneurship. In conclusion, family background does not influence FELDA youth to become entrepreneurs. Instead, three other factors, which are motivation, attitude, and skills, play crucial roles in driving them towards entrepreneurship. However, when the relationship between these four factors and entrepreneurial achievement is examined, the study results indicate mostly very weak direct and inverse relationships
Prestasi keusahawanan koperasi kariah masjid di Semenanjung Malaysia
The status of the inactive entrepreneurial performance of the Mosque Community Cooperative (KKM) remains unclear, and previous studies indicate that further scientific research is needed to substantiate it. The objectives of this study are: first, to evaluate the current entrepreneurial performance status of inactive KKMs, second, to determine the differences in entrepreneurial performance between inactive and active KKMs; third, to develop a model that reflects the entrepreneurial performance of both inactive and active KKMs; and fourth, to predict the significance of entrepreneurial performance criteria for inactive and active KKM in the future. A total of 221 samples were taken from KKM chairpersons across Peninsular Malaysia. Data from the survey were analyzed using mean analysis techniques, T-test, Pearson correlation and multivariate regression. The main finding of the study shows that the overall mean for inactive KKM status is 4.35, which is at a moderately good level. In comparing inactive and active KKMs, this study found a significant difference in entrepreneurial performance with a p-value of 0.001 (p< 0.05). For the entrepreneurial practice model of inactive versus active KKMs, the study found no significant difference in the current implementation. Additionally, the study also found that certain criteria for entrepreneurial performance in both inactive and active KKMs will remain unchanged; however, most are predicted to change in the future. Therefore, this study suggests that both inactive and active KKM entrepreneurs enhance their knowledge in business, organizational management and self-improvement
Prestasi dan budaya kerja kakitangan awam di Kabupaten Nunukan, Kalimantan Utara, Indonesia
The success of an organisation relies heavily on its human resources, which function as the primary driving force behind its operations. The achievement of organisational goals is typically shaped by various factors, both direct and indirect, that are closely linked to the operational framework, with work culture particularly significant. This study seeks to identify the factors influencing the job performance of public sector employees in Kabupaten Nunukan, Indonesia with a specific focus on the empowerment of work culture. A quantitative approach was employed through the use of questionnaires, with a sample of 300 respondents from the Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN). Data analysis was conducted using mean analysis, correlation analysis and linear regression analysis. The findings from the mean analysis indicated that both job performance and the empowerment of work culture were at a moderate level. Additionally, the correlation analysis revealed significant relationships between job performance and factors such as commitment, work discipline and work motivation. To gain a more in-depth understanding of the factors influencing work culture, the regression analysis identified 12 variables affecting commitment, 15 variables influencing work discipline, and 11 variables impacting work motivation. This study aims to provide a clearer perpective on the actual challenges faced by ASN in enhancing job performance. ASN plays a crucial role within the administrative system, serving as intermediaries between upper and lower levels of governance. As such, effective and strategic policies can be developed to ensure that the service delivery system of the Kabupaten Nunukan government operates at its optimal level, aligning with the vision of the Republic of Indonesia: "terwujudnya Indonesia maju yang berdaulat, mandiri dan berkeperibadian berdasarkan gotong royong" —the realisation of an advanced, sovereign, self-reliant Indonesia, founded on the principle of mutual cooperation
Thailand-China relations (1782-1809): The effects of organized hypocrisy strategy of Thailand
Scholarly attention has primarily focused on the origins and political dynamics of Sino-Thai relations, often overlooking the impact of Thailand's diplomatic strategies. This research aims to address this gap by applying and refining the organized hypocrisy theory to analyze Thailand’s influence on the Sino-Thai relationship from 1782 to 1809. Using this framework, this study examines Thailand’s use of organized hypocrisy, exploring its background, performance, and effects on Sino-Thai symbiotic relations. The historical analysis focuses on four cases involving the royal correspondence between Rama I and Emperor Qianlong, highlighting their significance. It is revealed that Thailand strategically employs organized hypocrisy to navigate conflicting appropriateness logics in its dealings with China. The key decoupling mechanism involves the Thai monarch engaging in diplomatic interactions to maintain status, while Chinese individuals in Thailand act as intermediaries in political exchanges, using diplomatic interactions to undermine the Thai monarch's prestige. This strategy contributes positively to establishing political conditions favorable to a resource-exchange type of Sino-Thai symbiotic relationship. Thailand's use of organized hypocrisy reflects the political maneuvering of a smaller nation dealing with a larger one. These favorable conditions arose from Qing Dynasty's practice of the 'no rule' doctrine and abstention from sending envoys to confer titles, which allowed for the effective application of the organized hypocrisy strategy. These findings not only shed light on the theoretical understanding of Sino-Thai friendly official relations by introducing the previously overlooked perspective of organized hypocrisy strategy but also provide insights into the conditions under which small countries effectively employ organized hypocrisy in responding to larger nations
The structural model of the relationships between media exposure, family communication, peer pressure, cultural values and violent behaviour among adolescents
Adolescent violence is one of the most decisive issues confronted by countries all around the globe. Presently, Jordan is facing a substantial raise in violent behaviour among adolescents. It is a complex fact that results from the interaction of several contributing risk factors e.g., exposure to violent media content, cultural practices, peer pressure, family, and school environment. Thus, the present study seeks to examine the relationship among media exposure, family communication, peer pressure, cultural values, and their influence on violent behaviour among adolescents. Additionally, the moderating effects of socioeconomic status (SES) and gender with violent behaviour among adolescents are also examined. The theoretical support of Social Learning Theory (SLT) and Cultivation Theory (CT) are taken to explain the phenomenon. The quantitative methodology was used to analyse the relationship between the proposed variables. Stratified random and simple random samplings are used to get data from 248 adolescents from 20 Jordanian schools. Partial Least Squares (PLS) and Structural Equation Modelling techniques were used to test the hypotheses. The results found that media exposure, family communication, peer pressure, and cultural values directly impacted violent behaviour among adolescents. The findings also revealed that gender moderates the relationship between cultural values and violent behaviour and that SES moderates the relationship between media exposure, peer pressure, and violent behaviour. The study suggests that people at the helm of affairs, stakeholders, and civil society should devise pragmatic policies to curb the menace of violent behaviour among adolescents in Jordan
An organizational model for intentions to adopt blockchain-based hospital information systems in Malaysian hospitals
Blockchain technology has gained considerable interest in various sectors due to its distributed ledger, decentralized nature, and cryptographic security. Despite its potential to revolutionize the healthcare industry by providing a unified and secure system for health records, blockchain adoption remains limited in developing countries including Malaysia. The current literature lacks comprehensive empirical studies investigating the factors influencing the adoption of blockchain technology in the healthcare sector. Thus, this study aims to identify the factors influencing the intention to adopt blockchain technology in Malaysian healthcare domain. A theoretical model is proposed by integrating the Fit-Viability Model (FVM), Technological-Organizational-Environmental (TOE) framework, and institutional theory (INS) to examine these factors. A quantitative approach was adopted, and data was collected through an online survey of 199 decision-makers in Malaysian hospitals. The collected data were analysed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis. The results indicate that trust, information transparency, disintermediation, cost-effectiveness, top management support, organizational readiness, partner readiness, technology vendor support, fit, and viability significantly and positively influence the intention to adopt blockchain-based Health Information Systems (HIS) in Malaysian hospitals. Conversely, coercive pressure from the government negatively affects the adoption decision. Moreover, the study found that hospital ownership type does not moderate the relationships between the identified factors and blockchain technology adoption. This study provides valuable insights into the various factors that influence blockchain technology adoption in public and private hospitals. The developed model offers guidelines for hospitals, blockchain technology providers, governments, and policymakers to devise strategies that promote implementation and encourage the widespread adoption of blockchain technology in Malaysian healthcare organizations
The effect of adversity quotient and marked orientation on firm perfomance through the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation in small and medium-sized textile industries in Indonesia
Small and medium-sized textile industries are facing competition constraints and the Covid-19 pandemic. The impact can be seen from its increasingly decreased contribution to gross domestic product and export performance. This situation has implications for the industrial sustainability in which some industries can survive and others cannot. The purpose of this study is to respond to the research needs, namely, to examine the effects of adversity quotient, entrepreneurial orientation, and market orientation on firm performance in small and medium-sized textile industries in Indonesia. This study used the theoretical model based on the resource-based view approach. Quantitative survey methods were employed, while questionnaires were used to collect data from a total of 287 respondents from small and medium-sized textile and textile product industries. The data were analyzed using a statistical technique, namely structural equation modeling - partial least squares to examine the direct and indirect effects of exogenous and endogenous variables. The findings show a positive and significant effect of adversity quotient on firm performance; adversity quotient on entrepreneurial orientation; entrepreneurial orientation on firm performance; and market orientation on entrepreneurial orientation, while market orientation has a negative and significant effect on firm performance The mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation is partially shown in the relationship between adversity quotient and firm performance, and fully shown in the relationship between market orientation and firm performance. These results provide evidence that supports the theoretical model of resource-based view, which explains the relationship between adversity quotient, market orientation, entrepreneurial orientation and their effect on the performance of small-scale textile industries. These findings have theoretical and practical implications for small-scale textile industries in Indonesia. This study presents limitations and recommendation
Assessing public perception and satisfaction within public transportation services in Penang
This research studied assessing public perception and satisfaction with public transportation services in Penang, Malaysia and uses the SERVQUAL model to assess service quality across multiple dimensions. Tangible, reliability, responsiveness, Assurance, empathy, and the other two variables added which are accessibility, safety, and security are all important considerations. Tangibles examine the physical components of transportation, such as the state of the facilities and vehicles. Reliability assesses the consistency and dependability of services, whereas responsiveness assesses staff willingness to serve passengers promptly. Assurance refers to employees' expertise, courtesy, and capacity to inspire trust, whereas empathy evaluates the provision of individualized attention. Accessibility refers to how easily passengers can use services, considering route availability, service frequency, and accommodations for those with disabilities. Safety and security assess the perceived and actual safety measures in place to protect passengers. This comprehensive method tries to identify strengths and problems in Penang's public transportation system by looking at quality, convenience, cost, comfort, and customer service criteria. To allow a meaningful interpretation of the results, the method used for this paper is to refer to primary data which is data collected through a questionnaire with 400 respondents, and secondary data such as government reports, journals, and academic resources. The result of this research will be useful both as a comparative and as an example of best practices for public transportation services to enhance reliability, upgrade facilities, improve customer service, increase safety measures, and expand service coverage, ultimately aiming to improve public perception and satisfaction of the public transportation services in Penang. The study suggested some recommendations that would help achieve the goal of an ideal public transportation system in Malaysia. Finally, our research results of the regression indicated that our research hypothesis supports the variables of Responsiveness, accessibility, safety, and securit
Residents’ support for halal tourism sustainability in the era of Covid-19
Halal tourism is an emerging concept gaining widespread popularity and standing as one of the fastest-growing segments in the tourism industry, including Malaysia. While the residents’ support for other types of tourism has been extensively researched, yet studies on residents’ support for the sustainability of Halal tourism sustainability is still particularly limited despite the growing interest in this segment. In addition, there is a pressing need to clarify its constructs and determinants that warrants a more structured conceptual framework and empirical methodology that may extend the work developed in previous studies. Furthermore, instrument items used to assess the elements affecting residents’ support for Halal tourism sustainability is urgently required. This study aims to establish a more accurate measurement method for evaluating the elements influencing residents’ support for Halal tourism sustainability. Unfortunately, in 2019, the rapid spread of the COVID-19 outbreak resulted in substantial losses for the Halal tourism industry, both locally and globally, prompting a cessation of all tourism-related activities, including accommodation. Therefore, this study primarily aims to explore the existing knowledge of Halal tourism sustainability by examining residents’ support for Halal tourism development and to determine how their support is influenced by certain elements during the COVID-19 outbreak. Guided by the social exchange theory, this study developed interview questions as instrument items to better understand the elements affecting residents’ support for Halal tourism sustainability. Based on the thematic analysis, it is revealed that certain elements have significantly influenced residents’ support for Halal tourism sustainability. Through rigorous empirical research, this study contributes to a strengthened understanding of residents’ support for Halal tourism sustainability. Findings from this study have narrowed the gap in understanding residents’ support towards the development of Halal tourism sustainability, amidst the current COVID-19 outbreak. Significantly, this study serves as a foundational step for more directed research in this area of study
The Impact of Front-Office Back-Office (FOBO) Structure on Employee Mental Health, Productivity And Organizational Success: A Case Study of the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM)
This research aims to gain insights into the newly introduced Front-Office Back-Office (FOBO) structure and its impact on employee mental health, productivity and organizational success at the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM). The significance of the study comes from the important role of the IRBM employees in tax
collection for the development of the country. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing a semi-structured interview method, involving 25 respondents from four IRBM offices. This research reveals that there is a varied understanding of FOBO among the
respondents. However, there is a common theme of respondents appreciating the flexibility that it offers in terms of work location and schedule. This aspect of FOBO is generally well-received and contributes to work-life balance. Respondents have a strong commitment to meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI), which will continue to increase in the presence of FOBO or not, and this is the main reason why they are stressed. Respondents provide valuable suggestions for improving FOBO and enhancing employee mental health and productivity such as providing internet allowances, implementing job rotations to foster staff interaction, offering recreational activities, conducting team-building exercises, relocating them to their hometown and reducing performance targets KPI. This study provides evidence that aligns with the
Job-Demand-Control-Support (JDCS) model by Johnson and Hall. In the context of implementing FOBO, it underscores the model's relevance by shedding light on how changes in job processes can influence employee mental health particularly when employees are tasked with achieving specific goals but receive minimal support from the management. Future research should include the management perspectives by exploring the insights of IRBM management regarding the rationale behind FOBO structure implementation, any new systems or restructuring programs in the future as well as their strategies for addressing KPI
