Determining the factors effecting on e-commerce adoption intentions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE): Mediating role of perceived strategic value
For small and medium enterprises (SMEs), e-commerce can provide a significant competitive advantage over their business rivals. Recent studies conducted in both developing and developed countries have provided compelling evidence that adopting e-commerce is an effective means of saving time and accomplishing tasks with accuracy and speed. This research aims to investigate the elements that influence the adoption of e-commerce in SMEs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This study focuses on the impact of technological factors (RA and TC), organizational factors (FS and DMK), and environmental factors (CP and CR), and how these factors affect the strategic perceived value and intention of e-commerce adoption among the SMEs in UAE. A theoretical model has been designed based on the Technology, Organization, Environment (TOE) framework and the diffusion of innovations (DOI) theory. Both frameworks are essential to examine the effects of multiple determinants on the intention to adopt e-commerce and to confirm the related advantages of e-commerce implementation at varying stages. Data were collected from various SMEs in the UAE, with the respondents comprised of owners and managers of SMEs from different industries. This was based on the understanding that e-commerce interests are on the rise among SMEs in the country. A questionnaire was designed based on demographic information from 380 respondents, along with adapted items from existing scales for all study constructs. The study used a non-probability sampling approach to collect data from the managers of SMEs in various UAE industries. The study used Google Surveys to disseminate the designed questionnaire and collect valuable data from the respondents. Measurement and structural models were applied using SmartPLS 3 for analyzing the data. The findings reveal a significant effect of Technological Factors (TC and RA), Environmental Factors (CR and CP), Organizational Factors (DMK and FS), and Environmental Factors (CR and CP) on ECAI and PSV. In addition, PSV was found to have a significant positive effect on ECAI organizations. However, the results revealed that Organization Factors (DMK and FS) and Technological factors (TC and RA) showed an insignificant effect on ECAI organizations. The results also demonstrated the mediating role of PSV in the link between Organizational Factors (DMK and FS), Environmental Factors (CR and CP), and ECAI organizations. However, PSV did not mediate the relationship between Technological Factors (TC and Relative TA) and ECAI organizations. The present study also highlighted the implications of the research, future research recommendations, and limitations
New media strategies' model for sexual reproductive health and rights campaigns among youth in Kenya's informal settlements
Recent global health communication trends have seen the rise in new media use. This study explored the possibility and acceptability of media managers using new media strategies to communicate sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) messages to the youth in informal settlements. Previous SRHR campaigns have used conventional media when the world is increasingly shifting to new media. The specific aims included: to identify new media strategies that can be used to reach the youth in informal settlements; to examine the planning process and use of policy in managing new media strategies for SRHR campaigns; to understand the media managers' mitigation of potential challenges in using a new media strategies' model for SRHR campaigns; and to develop a new media strategies' model for use in SRHR campaign activities. This basic research rested on the social constructivism worldview with the qualitative approach to tell a deeper story. Information was collected from Kenya's biggest informal settlement, Kibera, and other locations through in-depth interviews and five focus group discussions (FGDs) spread among the youth, parents and educators. Sampling techniques included purposive sampling and snowballing. Data analysis was done according to Atlas.ti 2012, and thereafter, a thematic analysis was used to yield themes presented and discussed in this text. Five main new media strategies identified included: key messaging; combination strategy; new-media geographic-based strategy; school-based solutions; and sustained promotional strategy. The study also yielded the 5Ps of planning: Preliminaries; Prepare; Practise; Present; and Policy. Identified challenges included opposition, message-related, limited finances and resources and technology-related. Mitigation measures include stakeholder involvement, adequate planning, training and lobbying for resources. Finally, this study developed a new media strategies' model from stakeholder perspectives for use by communicators. The study concludes that it is both possible and acceptable to use new media strategies in SRHR campaigns in Kenya
A model of childcare safety performance in Malaysia
Nowadays, childcare institutions are becoming more important, especially for working families, to assist them while they are working. Meanwhile, the injuries and death cases in childcare have been reported frequently in the media, which motivates the investigation of childcare safety and babysitter issues. A safe childcare environment protects children from any harm and significantly contributes to their mental and physical development. Therefore, this study aims to theoretically and empirically investigate the mediating impact of babysitter traits (BT) between the safety management practices (SMP) towards the childcare safety performance (SP), underpinned by the domino theory, human factor theory, and resource-based-view theory. The quantitative method was applied to gather feedback from Malaysian childcare providers through a survey questionnaire. A total of 117 respondents were deemed usable and analyzed using SmartPLS software. Results indicated that there exists a direct impact (SMP-SP, SMP-BT, BT-SP), which were all significant. It was found that there was a significant mediating impact of babysitter traits between safety management practices and childcare safety performance. Even though the presence of safety management practices is linked with the childcare safety performance for accident prevention, childcare safety performance relies on the mediation of traits by the babysitter. Thus, when childcare focuses on safety management practices to prevent accidents, all practices, including management commitment, safety training, workers involvement, safety communication and feedback, safety rules and procedures, and safety promotion policies, should be applied as one model to achieve childcare safety performance. Childcare also should be concerned with the empowerment of traits among their babysitter and focus on the good value of traits during babysitter’s recruitment. Hence, the research contributed the childcare safety model that is valuable for scholars, childcare providers, policymakers, training providers, the community, and parents to a safer childcare environment and children’s well-being
Role of intellectual capital and corporate governance toward state-owned enterprises performance: Moderating role of government intervention
State owned enterprises' performance have been a topic of discussion among researchers, especially in the context of emerging economies such as Pakistan. Numerous aspects that have a strong impact on state owned enterprises' financial performance and non-financial performance have been recognized. Describing all issues related to state owned enterprises' financial performance and non-financial performance with the assistance of a single theory is a challenge because several factors affect the performance of these state owned enterprises. Meanwhile, several theories exist in the literature that can explain and forecast the performance of state owned enterprises. Therefore, on the basis of resource base theory, agency theory, and resource dependency theory, this study aims to examine the role of intellectual capital and corporate governance on state owned enterprises' financial and non-financial performance in Pakistan with the moderating role of government intervention. Data were collected from the top management of state owned enterprises in Pakistan. Data were analysed through structural equation modelling using SmartPLS. Results show the significant impact of gender diversity on state owned enterprises' financial performance, while the independence of committee has a significant influence on state owned enterprises' non-financial performance. Further, the results demonstrated the moderating role of government interventions between the proposed innovation capability and state owned enterprises' non-financial performance. This thesis has made an important contribution both theoretically and practically. This study empirically tested the combined effect of corporate governance and intellectual capital on the financial and non-financial performance of state owned enterprises in Pakistan. In addition, this study analysed the moderating effect of government intervention, which had not been previously analysed. Moreover, the results of this study have practical implications for the Pakistani regulatory authorities in establishing and revising corporate governance practice standards that are tailored to Pakistan’s unique background. The future direction of this research can be developed by changing or adding variables and broadening its scope
Factors influencing intention to use smart home technology among elderly in Iraq: The case of Babylon and Diwanyah region
Smart Home Services based on the Internet of Things (SHS-IoT) hold promising power to enhance the elderly's quality of life. Yet, elderly acceptance of SHS-IoT remains unexpectedly low and requires serious theoretical attention to investigate the factors influencing the elderly's intent towards SHS-IoT acceptance. These factors include expectations, needs, preferences, and ageing-related aspects. While the Senior Technology Acceptance Model (STAM) has been developed to investigate the interaction between elderly individuals and new technologies, there is a need for more comprehensive exploration to gauge the Intention to Use (ITU) of SHS-IoT among elderly. This exploration should include critical factors such as Psychological Barriers(PB), Safety/Security (SS), Perceived Behaviour Control (PBC), Perceived Cost (PC), and Personal Innovativeness(PI), which are currently absent from the existing STAM. Therefore, this study introduces a model aimed at empirically examining 15 factors to understand the elderly's ITU SHS-IoT impact. Surveys and experimental approaches gathered data via purposive sampling from 50 Iraqi elderlies aged 55 and above. The data was analysed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to examine the relationship between the proposed factors. The findings of this study illustrated that SS has a strong and positive impact on the ITU SHS-IoT, while its moderating effect in the relation between the Attitude towards (AT) and ITU was found to be insignificant. The mediator effect of PBC was found to have a strong mediating relationship between PI and ITU. The PC significantly and adversely impacted ITU, whereas the PB positively affected the AT. Additionally, anxiety (ANX) and Self-Efficacy (SE) positively affect Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), while Facilitating Conditions (FC), SE, and SS enhance the Perceived Usefulness (PU) of SHS-IoT. This study establishes a robust model elucidating the investigation of ITU SHS-IoT technology among the elderly. Its implications resonate in technological inclusion, autonomous living, intergenerational connectivity, and holistic well-being. Healthcare providers can strategically use these findings to educate and promote SHS-IoT acceptance, thereby fostering enhanced living standards for the elderly

Factors that influence digital supply chain practices mediated by stakeholders’ intention in higher education institutes of the least developed countries
There is limited understanding regarding factors influencing Digital Supply Chain (DSC) practices in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) of Bangladesh. The primary objectives are to identify the determinants influencing DSC usage intentions among stakeholders of HEIs, determine the relationship of these determinants with DSC practices, and investigate the mediating role of DSC usage intention in these relationships. Data was collected from 434 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. The study employed the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach for data analysis. Five factors were identified as influencing stakeholders' DSC usage intentions: digital literacy (DL), facilitating conditions (FC), facilitating value (FV), performance expectancy (PE), and trust (T). It was found that DSC usage intention mediates the relationship between these identified factors and DSC practices among the stakeholders in Bangladesh's HEIs. The findings revealed positive relationships among DL, FC, FV, PE, T, and DSC usage intention. Moreover, DSC usage intention was found to positively affect DSC practices in HEIs. Mediation analysis confirmed that DSC usage intention significantly mediated the relationships between DL, FC, FV, PE, T, and DSC practices. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners in the higher education sector by highlighting the importance of enhancing digital literacy, creating favorable conditions, promoting the value of DSC, and building trust among stakeholders to facilitate the adoption of DSC practices. The implications of these results, future research directions, recommendations, and conclusions are thoroughly discussed in the thesis

Examining the influence of perceived organizational support, job autonomy, communication and self-efficacy on remote workers’ performance
The advancements in technology have open the opportunity towards the implementation of remote working. Remote works is introduced as it can provide positive impacts on both employers and employees simultaneously. Operating costs can be reduced and work-life balance can be enhanced respectively. Nevertheless, the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic has caused many organizations to adopt remote works. Hence, it is highly important to investigate whether these forced environmental changes in the workplace, especially for the remote workers, as their job performance could be impacted. This study is conducted with the intention to capture factors that might influence remoter workers’ performance. The study examines the direct relationship between perceived organizational support, job autonomy, communication, self-efficacy and remote workers’ performance. A total of 274 questionnaire were distributed to remote workers after permission was granted by the
organization. Response rate was 92.23% where a total of 253 were returned. In this study, hypotheses for direct effect were tested using multiple regression analyses. Results showed that only job autonomy and self-efficacy were found positively related to remote workers’ performance. The findings indicate that remote workers’ performance can be enhanced by giving them autonomy on how to carry out their task and by increasing their self-efficacy
Fenomena penyesuaian dan hibrid makna kata pinjaman bahasa Thai dalam dialek Melayu Patani berdasarkan proses gramatikalisasi
Borrowing a word from another language involves not just borrowing the form of the word but also a variety of meanings. The presence of these new loanwords provides an opportunity to examine the phenomenon of changes in the meaning of BTh loanwords in DMP recorded in the dictionary as well as the use of the meaning of these loanwords among teenage speakers compared to the existing meanings in DMP and BTh. As previous studies are more of a surface study, therefore, there is a need to conduct studies using more extensive data. In order to examine the existence of loanwords, the existing meaning will be clarified based on a comparison with the dictionary of the source language. While the explanation of the phenomenon of the use of loanwords is examined based on the current situation. Nine loan words that represent the category of meaning change according to word type, namely meaning expansion (rakbok, perak, koho), meaning narrowing (nak, kehek, sokmo), and meaning change (chuk, buk, laik) were obtained from the dictionary based on the development of changes in the meaning of the selected words and analysed using the grammaticalization process approach. The results of the analysis show that the nine words studied have produced new meanings that are significant and interesting. However, the tendency to produce new meanings that are different from the existing meanings in the dictionary is still influenced by the meaning of word in the source language. In particular, this study is able to explain the phenomenon of changes in the meaning of BTh loanwords in DMP which has the potential to be documented in the DMP dictionary and is even able to explain the phenomenon of the use of the analyzed words
