This community service activity aims to enhance the technical and digital skills of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the ethnic home craft sector through training on the application of electric overlock sewing machines, electric sandal smoothers, machine maintenance and repair, as well as digital marketing. This training was conducted in response to the needs of SMEs to improve production efficiency, product quality, and competitiveness in the digital era. The results of the training showed that participants successfully improved their skills in using overlock machines and sandal smoothers, enabling them to produce sandals with better quality and more efficient processes. In addition, participants were able to independently maintain and repair machines, which reduced repair costs and production downtime. In terms of marketing, the digital marketing training helped participants understand strategies for marketing through social media, online marketplaces, and SEO optimization, which significantly increased market reach and product sales. Although some challenges, such as a lack of content creation and data analysis skills, were still encountered, this activity successfully had a positive impact on improving the technical and digital skills of sandal craft SMEs. With further guidance, it is expected that SMEs can optimize technology and digital marketing strategies to expand their market and increase the competitiveness of their products. The Mattiro Bulu District in Pinrang Regency comprises nine villages, with agriculture as the primary economic activity. One such village, Marannu, faces challenges in maintaining and repairing agricultural equipment. Despite the presence of the active Punnia Farmers Group, the lack of adequate facilities, particularly welding workshops, hampers efforts to repair machinery. This forces farmers to seek repair services in neighboring villages, increasing costs and logistical issues. To address these challenges, the Community Partnership Empowerment Program (PKM) was implemented to provide training in agricultural machinery maintenance and repair, alongside establishing essential repair facilities. The program aims to enhance farmers' knowledge and skills, enabling them to independently maintain their equipment. Consequently, farmers can reduce external dependence, lower repair costs, and improve equipment management efficiency. The PKM supports the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative and the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) of higher education institutions. Faculty and students gain practical off-campus experience, applying research and community service outcomes for societal benefit. By focusing on agricultural technology innovation, the PKM aligns with the MBKM agenda of community empowerment through technological solutions. This program aspires to foster farmer independence in Marannu Village, enhance agricultural productivity, and improve overall well-being by addressing equipment maintenance challenges and promoting regional agricultural efficiency. The Community Partnership Program aimed to increase the production capacity of oyster mushroom growing media through the implementation of screening and mixing machines. By introducing this technology to oyster mushroom farmers in Jenetaesa Village, Maros Regency, it was expected that efficiency in the screening and mixing processes would improve, thereby accelerating and enhancing production in an economically sustainable manner. The activities began with identifying the problems and needs of farmers, followed by the creation of design concepts and detailed machine design. After the procurement of materials, the screening and mixing machines were constructed and tested in the Mechanical Workshop to ensure that all components functioned properly. The capacity test showed a maximum capability of 372 kg/hour with the materials well mixed at 200 rpm for 5 min. Next, implementation and a brief training session were conducted to ensure that farmers could operate the machines. With this technology, the farmers could increase the production of growing media in a shorter time with more consistent results. The oyster mushroom production and the economic welfare of farmers were expected to be increased, supporting the development of the local agricultural sector and providing a model that could be adopted by farmers in other regions. PEMBUATAN EDIBLE FILM DARI KULIT KENTANG DENGAN GLISEROL SEBAGAI PLASTICIZER

    Get PDF
Edible film is a thin layer used to coat food which is made from edible materials. Edible films can be made from hydrocolloid materials that are widely available in nature such as starch. The starch content found in potatoes is around 22%-28%. Starch-based edible films have weaknesses in tensile strength and elasticity properties. These properties can be improved by adding plasticizer additives. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of glycerol volume variation (0.5 mL, 0.75 mL, 1 mL, 1.25 mL and 1.5 mL) as plasticizer on the characteristics of edible film from potato peel. Potato peel starch of 5 g was mixed with chitosan solution of 1.5 g and glycerol. Then the mixture was stirred, then molded on heat-resistant plastic and heated at 60◦C. The edible film was tested for its characteristics, namely thickness, vapor transmission rate, tensile strength and elongation. The best characteristic is edible film on the addition of glycerol 0.5 mL with film thickness 0.21 mm, water vapor transmission rate 0.1416 g/hr.m2 and elongation 11.81%. The tensile strength value is not in accordance with the Japanese Industrial Standard edible film standard of 3.011 MPa. Keywords: edible film, glycerol, chitosan, potato peel, starc

Tofu liquid waste can pollute the environment because of its high BOD and COD values. This research was carried out by processing tofu liquid waste through a trickling filter. The use of a starter mix with the determining the effect of contact time and knowing the effectiveness of the type of sticky media in reducing the BOD and COD values of tofu liquid waste. Tofu waste water before the trickling process has a COD value of 1731 mg/L and BOD of 643 mg/L. This research used the trickling filter method, and used sticky media such as rambutan bioballs and bottle caps. The trickling filter process is carried out by soaking the sticky media with liquid tofu waste for 11 days and measuring BOD and COD on days 3, 5, 7, 9, 11. From the research results, on day 9, the media attached to bottle caps showed a decrease in BOD and COD with values of 10.1 mg/L and 23 mg/L with an efficiency of 98%. These results are accordance with East Kalimantan Regulation No.2 of 2011 concerning water quality management which sets a maximum limit of BOD of 150 mg/L and COD of 300 mg/L. The research involves the development of an application for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to support English language courses in Electrical Engineering and Informatics and Computer Engineering departments. The application replaces the traditional paper-based TOEFL test, allowing for easy administration anywhere, not just limited to classroom and campus. The aim of this research is to design a web-based TOEFL application that display real-time test scores upon completion and record learning history in accordance with the three sections of the TOEFL namely listening comprehension, grammar and written expression, and reading comprehension. The research utilizes PHP and JavaScript for website development, the Laravel framework (version 10.10) for building the application, MySQL as the database management system, and VS Code as the code editor. The research procedure includes a system analysis (problem analysis, system architecture analysis, functional analysis, non-functional analysis, and system requirements analysis) and system design (use case diagrams, activity diagrams, and entity relationship diagrams) aimed at producing a functional TOEFL application. A trial of this website application has been conducted as a pre-test for TOEFL, specifically for first-semester students of Electrical Engineering and Informatics and Computer Engineering departments. The problem that often arises in maintaining hygiene and sanitation standards from storage, processing to serving the food is that hygiene standards are not implemented properly. Guests not only want to stay overnight but also want to experience the taste of the food served at a hotel, especially at prices that are definitely different from street vendors or regular restaurants. Food also has a big impact on hotels, where income apart from room sales is from the food and beverage product department which serves various food menus, such as appetizers, main courses, desserts and others. Apart from that, this can also be dangerous for guests because they consume unclean food. The aim of this research is to determine the application of hygiene and sanitation supervision in the storage of food ingredients to be processed and served to guests. This research is descriptive research. The data collection technique was not only interviews but researchers also carried out observations to see directly the state of hygiene and sanitation at the hotel. The results of this research that there are standards for storing food ingredients in four-star hotels that are not implemented. Keywords: hygiene, sanitation, food, supervisio
