Raising Awareness On Homeless Individuals
Many in-need individuals have challenges in managing their emotions. When they lack skills in managing their emotions, they might turn to drugs and alcohol to cope with emotions and get into physical fights. In addition, their behaviors may result in them getting evicted from their residence. When they develop these skills, they can accept and receive services that are provided to them and improve their overall well-being. Therefore, I provided a one-day workshop for the in-need individuals receiving services at OMNI Inc in Salinas, California

Project Emerald : Youth and their ability to shine
A lack of leadership opportunities available to at-risk youth has caused an increased likelihood of struggles in school, higher rates of juvenile delinquency & a lack of job readiness skills. Growing Greatness is a non-profit organization located in Watsonville, California that teaches leadership and health advocacy workshops for youth who attend local middle schools and high schools. The purpose of this project was to implement a new online confidence building workshop. One of the activities was titled, “Group Agreements” and it shed light on a way to build on confidence, by creating a safe space that can provide a break from things such as judgment & unsolicited opinions. The results were measured by a pre-survey & a post-survey. The post-survey indicated a huge difference in the answers received after the workshop was completed, with all three participants confirming an increase within their individual personal strengths & overall confidence
Addressing Life Stressors in High School
The Salinas Union High School District (SUHSD) Wellness Center at Alisal High School meets each student\u27s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs to achieve their aspirations. Many students are experiencing mental health challenges during this period in their lives. Staff shortages, lack of family support, and lack of healthy coping mechanisms lead to increased needs of mental health resources. This project addresses students\u27 lack of resources for life stressors and addresses the need for more resources. The project consisted of implementing short presentations on communication, healthy/unhealthy relationships, and self-esteem to about 470 students. The findings from this project showed that 71% of students found this information helpful and that the information they received increased their awareness about identifying potential stressors and ways to practice self care. It’s recommended that the agency continue to provide students with these PowerPoints to promote healthy coping skills and allow for student engagement
Mental Health and Self Care Workshops

During March 2023 a five day mental health workshop for middle school and high school students was implemented , which aimed to normalize discussions on self care and mental health among youth. The workshop covered a variety of topics, including stress management, mental health disorders, self-image, and self-esteem. There was an increase after the workshops of mental health and self care showing ninety percent of youth learned something new about mental health and how they can apply it in their everyday lives. It was intended that the participants would become familiar with these concepts and learn effective coping mechanisms for handling stress, mental health crises, and self-doubt

Pandemic Recollections (a poetry series)
The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic stirred up a myriad of emotions as everyone faced the uncertainty of the virus. This series of poems reflects on those emotions, from the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 to the present.
How it started recalls the initial spread of the virus and the changes it inflicted. In Bored, we explore the myriad of ways that life at home was experienced. Fidget refers to a more personal experience of coping with the anxiety of the pandemic using a fidget cube. A common experience expressed by many has been a lack of mental clarity and memory, which is detailed in Lost years, lost mind. Finally, Endemic(ish) discusses the current state of searching for a new sense of normalcy.https://digitalcommons.csumb.edu/hcom434_spring2023/1013/thumbnail.jp
