Deep-Fake Revenge Porn: The intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Revenge porn for a Modern Attack on Women

    Get PDF
This study aims to provide a legal analysis grounded in gender legal theory to critique current legislation enacted in the United States. It focuses on the societal and gendered impacts of revenge porn, particularly examining how victimization differs across genders. The legal analysis explores state-by-state legislation addressing revenge porn, assessing the severity of criminal penalties and the timeline of enactment. For current contextual reasons, the study evaluates how emerging Deepfake artificial intelligence technologies intersect with and complicate existing revenge porn laws. Finally, it analyzes the extent to which each state has incorporated Deepfake AI considerations into its legal framework

Privacy in the Age of Platforms: How Digital Advancements are Outrunning Our Constitution

    Get PDF
This project analyzes the procedural history of Fourth Amendment doctrine in the Supreme Court. This timeline begins with the 1928 case of Olmstead v. United States and proceeds with recent cases that resolve more modern concerns such as location tracking via cell-cite information, as seen in Carpenter v. United States (2018). Prevalent cases are analyzed through both majority and dissenting opinions to demonstrate the entire Courts’ attitude towards the interpretation. Though more recently the Court has moved towards expanding the expectation of privacy that one can assume from the Fourth Amendment, digital privacy has yet to be incorporated. The research conducted offers examples of government surveillance using technology and the level of sensitive information obtainable through third party sites such as social media. Ultimately, this shows the government\u27s current ability to obtain sensitive information without repercussion in the modern digital age. This project aims to demonstrate the continued advancement of technology and the new demand to acknowledge digital privacy as a protected space

“CLINICAL-BFR”: An exploratory blood flow restriction protocol focusing on clinical application

    Get PDF
Purpose: Traditional blood flow restriction resistance training (BFR-Trad) is a cost-effective and time-efficient exercise modality that offers significant skeletal muscle benefits, including strength and mass gains. Despite employing low loads, BFR-Trad may not be well tolerated by all populations due to its high intensity, painassociated muscle discomfort, low affectivity, and cardiovascular responses. Consequently, reducing BFR intensity may be an interesting approach to making traditional BFR more clinically applicable. This was approached through the proposal of the present Clinical BFR. Methods: Twenty-two healthy, untrained subjects (both female and male) aged between 18 and 30 years participated. Subjects completed three sessions of unilateral knee extension exercises randomly assigned to the BFR-Trad, BFR-Clinical_c (cadenced), and BFR-Clinical_a (-autoregulated) exercise protocols. Results: The BFR-Trad condition induced greater increases in perceived exertion, discomfort, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and lactate levels compared to the BFR-Clinical conditions (p \u3c 0.05). Muscle concentric velocity showed greater increases in the BFR-Clinical_a condition (p \u3c 0.001), along with higher affectivity ratings for the exercise compared to the BFR-Clinical_c and BFR-Trad conditions (p \u3c 0.05). Conclusion: Compared to traditional BFR, clinical BFR was scored as less intense, reduced pain-associated discomfort, decreased DOMS, increased affectivity, diminished systolic blood pressure responses, decreased fatigue and muscle activation, and promoted similar glycemic responses. Altogether, our results support the potential use of clinical BFR in clinical settings

Breaking the Silence: Student Mental Health

    Get PDF
Many students in Portola-Butler Continuation High School are experiencing mental health struggles. The continuation school is located in King City and serves students from 10th to 12th grade, ages 15 to 18. The project was implemented through the use of surveys which focused on student mental health and their experiences with mental health in school. The purpose of this project was to demonstrate the struggles students may be facing related to their mental health and recognize areas where students may be in need of support. This project was created with the intent to provide students a platform where they are able to share their perspectives on mental health. Survey results revealed relevant findings, including that 1 in 3 students are unaware of resources available to them. Following the success of this project, it was recommended that Portola-Butler Continuation High School expand their support of student mental health through their resources and continue to assess students on their mental wellbeing in order to address their needs effectively

Home for the Brave: Housing Program

    Get PDF
Veteran homelessness remains a critical issue across the United States. Since 1996, the Veterans Transition Center (VTC) of Monterey County has been at the forefront of addressing this crisis by providing comprehensive services, housing, therapy, addiction recovery, job training, healthcare, and support for families and pets to homeless and formerly incarcerated veterans. Guided by its mission of “Veterans Supporting Veterans,” VTC has achieved a notable 0% recidivism rate among program participants. This project evaluated the effectiveness of VTC’s housing program through a survey of 40 alumni veterans. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents found the program effective, credited it with helping them secure stable housing, and expressed deep appreciation for the support received. The housing program run by the Veterans Transition Center has provided a safe and stable home for 4,155 single veterans and 351 veterans with families. Thanks to their unwavering support and ongoing advocacy, more and more veterans are finding peace of mind, knowing they have a secure place to call home. A key recommendation emerging from the study is the expansion of community-building activities and events to further enhance social connectedness among veterans

Teaching Anti-Bullyig Strategies To Elementary School Students

    Get PDF
Anti-bullying education is often absent from after-school programs. Children who are not exposed to anti-bullying education in their after-school programs might experience bullying that could be carried over from school, and could develop negative self-esteem, have academic difficulties, and experience feelings of depression. When elementary-school-aged children in after-school programs learn about anti-bullying skills, they are more likely to develop conflict resolution and management strategies and increase their respect and compassion for their peers. Therefore, I have created a two-day anti-bullying lesson for elementary-aged children in the Campus Kids Connection program at Soquel Elementary in Santa Cruz, California

Increasing Awareness about Cell Phone Use and Social Media in Adolescents

    Get PDF
High school students often lack the knowledge and awareness of the effects that cell phones and social media have on their daily lives. Being unaware of the negative effects, high school students may find themselves becoming easily distracted by their cell phones, engaging in limited classroom activities and discussions, and experiencing lower quality peer relationships. Understanding the role technology plays in their lives, high school students may show improvements in their digital literacy and critical thinking. In order to address this lack of awareness in high school students, I have created an interactive presentation for students in the English Language Development (ELD) program at Monterey High School in Monterey, California
