    Get PDF
This study aimed to summarize studies on early childhood and elementary school social skills and identify research gaps. The study used a systematic literature review method. A total of 50 articles on early childhood and elementary school social skills were published over the past ten years, from 2013 to November 2022. The 50 articles were the subject of the study. Nine thousand one hundred fifty samples comprise 1,958 early childhood and 7,192 elementary school students. The data were collected by studying documentation of several previous articles through database searches such as Google Scholar, scopus.com, ERIC, Sage Publication, Science Direct, and Taylor and Francis. The data analysis techniques were quantitative (statistical) and qualitative (descriptive). This study indicated that 50 articles had highlighted social skills in early childhood and elementary school that had successfully improved through the implementation of learning outside the classroom revealing the attitudes such as cooperation, assertion, responsibility, and self-control in students, and intellectual abilities, language, Education, computers, gender, and parental support. This study is helpful for educators as material for maximizing social skills. A systematic literature review of students\u27 social skills factors is recommended for future researchers

Aceh Traditional Culinary Kuah Pliek U: How it Sustains Eco-Lexicon Diversity

    Get PDF
"Kuah Pliek" is the famous Acehnese cuisine that utilizes most ecological materials. However, only a few researchers have discussed the sustainability of the lexicon contained within the cuisine from an eco-linguistics perspective. This study focuses on Aceh\u27s traditional cuisine, "Kuah Pliek U" (KPU), to assess the raw materials\u27 eco-lexicon diversity and the Acehnese\u27s knowledge of the identified eco-lexicon. This study employed a qualitative research design to address the problems in which data collection included in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), passive and active observation, and the examination of documents such as research reports and journal articles. The analysis of data then used a qualitative interactive model. The result demonstrates that the number of the eco-lexicon within KPU is about 35 – 40, as same as its total of raw materials and ingredients. It consists of biotic and abiotic, with plants comprising the majority. Linguistically, the lexicon belongs to the noun class, but semantically, it can be divided into nouns, prepositional eco-lexicons, and nouns and conjunction. This study also reveals that Acehnese knowledge of KPU has decreased, despite its continued popularity in Aceh society. It means that the existence of three dimensions that influence language sustainability cannot guarantee that local people\u27s cultural knowledge will remain intact

Teungku Abdul Djalil: Political Hack “Hakko Ichiu” and Founder of the Indonesian Opposition to the Japanese Occupation

    Get PDF
Diplomacy and war brought independence to Indonesia. Many people joined in the battle for independence, even Muslim scholars and students interested in expelling colonialism. Teungku Abdul Djalil, a preacher in Aceh, issued a fatwa commanding the people to “depopulate” the Japanese from the veranda of Mecca. Teungku Abdul Djalil, or more generally known as Teungku Cot Plieng, was the leader of Dayah Cot Plieng in Bayu, North Aceh. Since 1942, this prominent clergyman has rallied 400 students (santri) to openly oppose the Japanese resistance in Aceh. His study attempted to quantify the success of the character and his followers (santri) in achieving Indonesian independence, as well as their resolve not to be influenced by Japanese Hakko Ichiu political propaganda. Utilizing a descriptive-analytic historical method, the research process began with data collection (heuristics), source critique, interpretation, and historiography. The research subjects’ credibility was established through perpetrators and witnesses from Japan’s history of resistance. This investigation revealed that Teungku Abdul Djalil and his students played an important role as the first pioneers in expelling the Japanese from Indonesia

    Get PDF
This article examines why the Keujruen Blang, as a traditional institution, has continued to experience crises since the New Order Reformation to post-peace in Aceh. This study aimed to reveal and provide an overview of how the Acehnese people\u27s local wisdom, or local knowledge, has been experiencing a crisis, particularly a recent issue with paddy field management. This study was conducted in Aceh Jaya and used qualitative research. Observations and direct interviews were conducted with 17 informants. The technique for determining informants used a purposive technique. In addition to the interview, data were collected through a review of the literature and other documents on the crisis agency of local actors (keujruen blang). These related documents and articles were identified, reviewed, and analyzed. The data analysis techniques used was data reduction, data display, and verification. Reproduction of the keujruen blang authority had yet to bring the expected results. Even though laws, government  regulations, and Aceh Qanun had been issued, Keujruen Blang still needed to be strengthened. This fact occurred because there were overlapping roles and functions between the customary institution of keujruen blang and the formal P3A institution

    Get PDF
Workplace bullying can result in serious consequences for both employees and employers. Unfortunately, despite the guarantee of safe employment, workplace harassment, violations of employment rights, and bullying continue to occur within organizations. This study investigated the relationships and pathways between workplace bullying and job burnout in insurance company employees. The study consisted of 189 employees. The data were collected using a sociodemographic data questionnaire, the Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised, and Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale. The model was tested using path analysis techniques within structural equation modeling. The analysis results demonstrated a strong positive correlation between workplace bullying and job burnout. The study revealed that assigning underperforming or impossible tasks, setting unachievable goals, and excessive workloads are indicators of workplace bullying. Hostile acts such as spreading rumors, speaking maliciously, ignoring someone intentionally, and teasing someone also contributed to diminished personal achievements and underperformance. Intimidation tactics, such as recalling mistakes or domineering behavior, also led to job burnout. The study\u27s findings suggest that employers should be aware of workplace bullying\u27s harmful effects and take measures to prevent it from occurring to protect their employees\u27 well-being and organizational success

The Impact of Mother’s Gender Preference on Children’s Cognitive Ability in Indonesia

    Get PDF
A simple theoretical model predicts that when a mother gives birth to a child of her preferred sex, parents will likely invest more resources in that child, leading to more significant human capital. This bias can result in unequal treatment and opportunities, affecting a child’s long-term development. This study investigates how gender preference influences cognitive ability between sons and daughters in Indonesia. This study utilizes longitudinal data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey 1 and 5, analyzed using the Ordinary Least Square method. The results indicate that daughters whose mothers had a son preference had 0.259 points higher cognitive scores. This finding is attributed to the sample distribution, revealing that daughters of mothers who prefer sons were mainly those without male siblings, allowing them to receive equal input from their parents without competing with boys. The heterogeneity analysis further revealed that daughters from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as those living in rural areas and born to less educated mothers, are disproportionately affected by son preference. In conclusion, it appears that children’s family background and sibling composition can significantly impact the disparity in cognitive achievement between sons and daughters

    Get PDF
This qualitative study explored the proper and feasible Halal Tourism (HT) model regarding the implementation of Sharia law in Aceh Province, Indonesia. Observation, questionnaire, and interview were conducted at three important tourist cities in Aceh: Banda Aceh, Sabang, and Takengon. Three hundred twenty-five respondents participated in this research, and convenience sampling was used to select them. The results were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s qualitative analysis method and the SWOT analysis to construct the expected model. The result indicated that the HT model must be arranged under the following six principles: ease, reliability, safety, trust, openness, and continual improvement. Those principles can be implemented in every aspect of tourism: policies and regulations, facilities, hotels, other accommodations, transportation, and human resources. Also, progress in the HT management must focus on implementing Sharia in the plenary (kaffah) and improving the locals’ prosperity. Besides, the HT model consists of planning, decision-making, providing support, socializing, implementing, and supervising, considering its principles toward tourism and local cultures and values. The implementation of the model is expected to ensure the communities\u27 life and integrate their inextricable foundation, Sharia while stimulating their socio-economic through the possibility of investment and employment in the future

    Get PDF
This study tried to analyze the problems of the plantation sector in Riau Province from the point of view of governance policies carried out by the Riau Provincial government. Palm oil is still a leading commodity in Riau Province. This research problem focused on the governance of oil palm plantation policies in Riau Province as the first strategic issue. The added value of oil palm plantations had yet to improve the community\u27s economy due to the slow downstream program. This study used the concept of governance, consisting of three dimensions: actor, structural, and empirical. Using qualitative research methods, this study concluded that the first dimension influences the policy governance of the oil palm plantation sector: actors were dominated by entrepreneurs, totaling 233 companies from an area of 1.569 million hectares. The two structural dimensions were dominated by six environmental studies on the management of oil palm plantation policies and the realization of the Riau Province APBD budget structure. The three empirical dimensions were dominated by land destruction and land conflicts for oil palm plantations, which impact the policies of the regional government of Riau Province
