Relation between Sprinting Ability, Rebound Jump Ability, and Stepping Ability among Elementary School Track and Field Athletes

    Get PDF
This study aims to investigate the relation between the sprinting ability, rebound jump ability, and stepping ability among track and field athletes of elementary school age. The subjects for this study consisted of 28 elementary school children (12 boys and 16 girls; age range: 11-12 years). The measurements used were their season’s best times for the one hundred-meter sprint (100 m SB), the index (jumping height / ground contact time) of consecutive rebound jumping (RJ-index), and the step frequency( SF) for 5 seconds in a standing position. Results attained were as follows; 1) The 100 m SB significantly correlated with the RJ-index in both groups( boys group: r = -0.693, p < 0.05; girls group: r = -0.568, p < 0.05). 2) On the other hand, the 100 m SB did not significantly correlate with the SF in either group. These results indicated sprinting ability is influenced by stronger rebound jump ability more so than stepping ability among elementary school track and field athletes. Therefore, when SF data is used in assessing competitive superiority or inferiority of ability on 100 m SB, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of the competition.departmental bulletin pape

Lay Judge System and Social Bias −Japanese lay judge system can be free from the influence of prejudge on the mental disorders?

This paper aims to indicate a problem in Japan’s lay judge system and to suggest the importance of support for lay judges to avoid the influence of social bias in court decisions. The Japanese lay judge system was created in 2004 and it became effective in 2009, in order to “promote the citizens’ understanding of and enhance trust in the judicial system.” But after its creation, some problems of this system have become clearer. Here, we trace the case of a woman murdered by her brother who suffered from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD). In this case the defendant was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment over the public prosecutor’s demand by Osaka District Court with a panel of lay judges. The judgment was based on a misunderstanding by lay judges sustained with social bias toward mental disabilities and a conviction the lack of information on social welfare assistance for the people with mental disorders. This judgment indicates the necessity of more support for lay judges.departmental bulletin pape

Effects of Classroom Experiments for Economic Education: Case of“ Labor Market”

    Get PDF
This paper examines how classroom experiments improve the understanding of economics among university students. Subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental group (treatment group) and a group taught by conventional instruction (control group). We compare the effectiveness of a classroom experiment designed to have students experience the “labor market,” to a non-experimental “conventional” instruction method used for teaching the subject of “labor market.” We measured the subjects’ performance with a uniform test to see the degree of understanding attained concerning the subject content. Finally, we show that the average of correct answers in the treatment group is higher than that of the control group. This result implies that classroom experiments may hold significant advantages in the teaching of economic contents.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on the Evaluation of Interior Spaces with Focus on Sensitivity Analysis

    Get PDF
In this paper, the authors attempt to evaluate interior spaces with focus on sensitivity analysis. An EEG experiment and the impression evaluation experiment using CG imaging of interior space was conducted using 3 colors, namely, red, blue and white. The following three results were obtained; 1. Blue and white colored interior spaces have more impact on human senses compared to red spaces. 2. Differences are observed between the impact of particular colors themselves and the impact that colors used in interior spaces have on subjects, and also, the influence of interior colors vary between subjects. 3. The degree of relaxation subjects "feel" is similar in both a sensibility analysis measurement, and subjective evaluation.departmental bulletin pape

The Effect of Automatic Driving Systems on Automobile Insurance

    Get PDF
This study examines how automatic driving systems, such as automatic control using AI (artificial intelligence), affect automobile insurance. It is natural, however, that a driver may be able to drive his/her car without automatic driving systems where driving problems are anticipated. This implies that cars having automatic driving systems, such as “automatic controlling mode using AI” coexist with “driver controlling mode”. If insurance companies and car manufacturers can not verify which mode was engaged when a car accidents occurred. This leads to ex post moral hazard because drivers have incentive for false statements as if drivers had driven by himself/herself because their rate of responsibility may be reduced by product reliability law. Ex post moral hazard of false statements may also lead to ex ante moral hazard simultaneously. I show a solution to reduce these moral hazard using IoT (Internet of Things) technologies.departmental bulletin pape

The Influence of Captain’s Leadership on Other Menbers in High School Athletics Club

    Get PDF
departmental bulletin pape
